I just thought, in the movie, how was Cypher able to go in and out the Matrix and talk to Agent Smith without Tank knowing??
He was talking to the code. That scene was just a visual representation for the audience. That's why he got so startled when Neo catches him. He was talking to an agent right there and then, but Neo just had no clue what he was looking at. "A brunette, a blonde, a redhead"... or just this fucking agent right here ma nigga.
