i have 2 of those kinds of sirens very close to where i live,1 is on the other side of the parking lot but its up a steep hilly area the other 1 is just down the street and is behind the school
My dad was god dang lucky. He was in mexico at the time. Tornado season is tornado season.. FUCK I WAS ALL ALONE I WAS SICK OUT OF SCHOOL.. ALL ALONE! IT WAS A NIGHTTMARREEE. The power went off, the bathroom door was locked.. 2-3 tornados were coming straight towards me, I WAS IN TORNADO ALLEY.. The power shut off in the home, the door was locked. It was PITCH black in the bathroom, and I HAD NO FLASHLIGHT. All I heard and saw was a pitch black room with the sounds of a tornado and hail D:
Tomorrow is Milwaukee's tornado siren test and im unable to wait to hear it. For some reason I love to watch tornado sirens go off and i love to hear Milwaukee's tornado siren
Carrollton needs good, healthy sounding sirens like this one. I lived in Carrollton from 1985 - 2017 and their sirens are very faint. I had to go stand outside of my apartment to know if my area had a warning siren going. And even then I could barely hear it!
You mightve been in an area where sirens are a mile or so away and you can't hear them as good. I live in an apartment in Carrollton right now and I can hear a 2001 pretty good, but I'm really a couple blocks away from it. I've heard it for real only during the March 2, 2023 severe thunderstorm.
I like the sound of sirens to but when they first start up and its a time when i am not expecting weather and it catches me off guard, my heart rate goes up and i start turning on tvs and pacing back and forth its actually kind of funny
I live in dallas forth worth and we have the same siren cause there's a old bases here so it goes off when tornado comes but it was built for world war1 and2 for incoming attacts
Ohh it not creepy till some creepy ass dude starts talking. They put new ones in where I live and it has a guy talking about the specific dangers to the storm that is approaching
Indianapolis used to test weekly. Both attack and alert were tested. Now when we have a tornado warning, the sirens go off in a three minute alert signal. We also test monthly on the first Friday.
Now with all the resting people in other countries are like let's send a bomb on a regular test day on test time they go off and everyone thinks it's a test
Music to my ears lol I'am a storm spotter and from Missouri so this is nothing new to me lol Its just not fun when your sleeping at its scares the crap out of ya lol
LOL! I'm used to the series. It's like a car alarm going off lol. We have been doing drills since elementary school. Our schools had a wall of windows in every room. So we have to go in the hall duck down by the lockers and cover our heads with out arms. We also had to do the drills in Junior High too.
You are right. Sorry. I live just south of White Rock Lake. We could hear all of the sirens all afternoon. There are two trees broken off on our street. I saw someone cleaning up a tree just a little south of me. Maybe a tornado did pass over.
never seek shelter under a bridge, not even a girder type because if the tornado is strong enough and hits the bridge the winds will suck you right out
I’m like smack dab in the middle of Tornado Alley and I have never heard the CivDef Sirens in Attack Mode during a Tornado warning in all my 16 years of life.
I love how sirens go off in attack mode!! I have a t 128 and it does attack mode too!! I live in Marengo Indiana!! they test them every Saturday at 12:00 pm!!
Sounds (and looks) like the sirens in my area. Doesn't matter what the "experts" say, the moment I hear the sirens going, I run outside to take a look...and take some pictures with my camera. Stupid? Don't think so. I CHALLENGE THE TORNADO! COME GET ME! :P
that's obvious, you're not going to run outside into a tornado because someone on the internet made a blatently obvious sarcastic remark saying you should, and if you do, you'll be better off running into it lol
Not everyone uses alert for tornado warning , in fact more people use attack b/c it gets attention more than alert. And sometimes Cities use one tone one time and another the other time, oddly .
Living in Southern California I have no idea what it would be like living in these areas. I've never heard one of these sirens go off other than in videos like this one. This one just made me think how annoying it must be to live in tornado alley :P
I live in northglenn Colorado why can't we have the same siren what the heck.. I should build an air raid siren it might take time but I have to get going before the next spring and summer of 2013!!..
Is it normal for them to use the "Air Raid" mode for a Tornado Warning in Texas? Usually the tone rising and falling means an air attack whereas the steady tone is for a tornado. Are all of the new sirens going to start doing it that way?
Lol I live in Dallas also and I think they use these sirens way too much! I don't even think half the ppl in Dallas pay any attention when they hear the siren anymore.
OMG! At least you can hear it. It's tested to guarantee it will work during an emergency. Why is this hilarious? Tornadoes come more frequently in Spring. Duh! The about tornadoes is it can happen anytime even at broad daylight!
Under a bridge or overpass is where you DO NOT want to be! You want to be in a shelter or basement of some kind when the sirens sound! Not very smart!!! Even if it sounds 5 or 6 times you NEED to take shelter till the all clear is given. Better safe than dead.
You know what I don't understand why Tornado sirens go off ? And I know it means that Tornado is here . But here's shouldnt the sirens be for fire calls only and you can hear the Tornado warning on TV which is more annoying EAS.
To be honest, I'd rather be in another tornado warning :) To be honest when I saw the tornado warning it was so unexpected. I started laughing and started feeling sorry for DFW until I heard it was coming for my area !! xD "IF I hear sirens ill go inside the bathroom and prey to survive." *Sirens* "OMGOMGOGMGOMGOGMGOMGOM"
Does anyone else realize that the siren is in attack mode. That mode is only activated by the National authorities. The NWS can put it in alert mode. The alert would have a steady tone. The Attack has a tone that goes up and down.
That is the kind of sirens they use now at leat in Dallas county. They have replaced most of the Thunderbolt type sirens that used to be one long hum. Those were really scarier than these because they were more ghostly or low-pitched.
I think it's better that they use the attack sound because it's more attention-getting due to the rise and fall of the pitch. alert is mostly just one tone.
Indianapolis, IN uses Attack no matter the situation. When testing every Friday @ 11:00 am (yes i said every which is supposed to be changed soon), they use attack. When weather strikes, Attack Mode. And plus we don't have any 2001's, we still use 2 ACA Allertor 125's, a B&N Mobile Directo (which was taken down 2 years ago. I bought it and nothing has replaced it yet. A 2001 is probably on its way), a Federal Signal 3t22, and 3 Thunderbolt 1003's. One Tbolt (right across from my house) was taken down and replaced with a brand spanking new ACA Allertor (i don't know why exactly). So now on Friday's because I don't have classes Fri-Tues, i get to wake up to a loud noise (at least it's not a Chrysler victory Siren). And i am now the proud owner of that Tbolt. I restored it along with my Allertor (aka my UA-cam Channel Thumbnail being my refurbed 1003)
"That means go outside and see what's going on" - LOL I died :D
yeah I died to lol
Ikr what an idiot
As did everyone else who followed that advice...
RCDude you obviously dont understand the concept of sarcasm -_-
I lived xD
"Tornado sirens going off, which means, go outside and see what's going on"
Literally every Midwesterner ever 🤣
Is it weird that I got a bit homesick and had to look up "tornado sirens" on UA-cam...?
I moved to Dallas 3 years ago, and I haven't lived here a single year without the air raid sirens going off.
I love those sirens :D
shamin dookie those are 2001's in Attack mode (Wail tone)
I dont like siren
i have 2 of those kinds of sirens very close to where i live,1 is on the other side of the parking lot but its up a steep hilly area the other 1 is just down the street and is behind the school
A week from now I’m going to record one.
My dad was god dang lucky.
He was in mexico at the time.

Tomorrow is Milwaukee's tornado siren test and im unable to wait to hear it. For some reason I love to watch tornado sirens go off and i love to hear Milwaukee's tornado siren
@Lucasblake90 If you want to get close to one of these, make sure you have ear protection. These will blow your eardrums out.
What's going on?"
Idk I guess sever weather.
You know Texas. You're one of us.
The tornado sirens are going off; that means go outside and see what's going on 😂😂😂
I’ve been through a tornado warnings before and Kansas
Lake Highlands is south of Denton. There were tornados up that way, but I don't know if there was any damage.
2:30 "Maybe its a drug raid"... Seems Legit.
It's a tornado warning. Didn't see his tv?
Bitch it's not a drug raid i think yo drunk ass don't know how to read
@@kierramcdowell9889 dude the girl said that
I love how your sooo chilled
Highland Village is South of Denton. Lake Highlands the area is in Dallas. It is by White Rock Lake in Northeast Dallas.
I am watching this on a stormy day!!
3;20 I moved into Amarillo from KC and was pretty surprised a lot of places there don't have basements considering you are still in tornado alley.
The sirens mean get in a shelter and DONT go out side
It’s called a joke dumbnut
You don't know what it like in Texas
@@WalterHadnot hell in the midwest in general, as an Ohioan I go outside and go like "WTF is happening?" even though I directly know what is happening
why is that such a chilling sound
Our sirens test is just 3 min wail. Warning they run both modes until the tornado has passed or dissipates.
We need a tornado siren in south Texas. We keep getting tornado warnings and people probably not listening. Especially Houston
I live in Texas to!
South Texas dosent get tornados you just get illegal immigrat
"That means go outside to see what's going on." I love it!

The sirens are like fire drills in school B-)
Something sexy about the air raid siren I love that sound haunting yet very intriguing
If your doors and windows shake, GET YOUR ASS TO THE SHELTER! And put it on alert! Not attack!
Some just sound like that get over it
Wow im watching this during a severe storm at night XD
When you pause the video but the sirens are still going.
I like the sound of sirens to but when they first start up and its a time when i am not expecting weather and it catches me off guard, my heart rate goes up and i start turning on tvs and pacing back and forth its actually kind of funny
I wonder what will happen to the sirens when they upgrade there system since it got hacked
That large Tornado down in Arlington just missed my dads work up near DFW
I remember this day. I was alone at a friend's house with her dogs and I was fighting to get them in the closet. The radar was bad looking.
i'm very familar with this siren... it's a mile away from my old house!!
Indianapolis used to test weekly. Both attack and alert were tested. Now when we have a tornado warning, the sirens go off in a three minute alert signal. We also test monthly on the first Friday.
Same story in Baton Rouge. I think it is the first Wednesday here.

5:18 -- Thats where I live! I mustn't have caught that on the news since I was in the bathroom at the time..
Uh, I don't think that 'go outside and see what's goin' on' is what the sound of a tornado siren means...

It dosent matter how strong the tornado is if a tornado goes by a bridge the wind strength basicly doubles. If your under a bridge your screwed
BBoi00 00 Very true. A lot of the old things that they told people are bad.(open windows go in a ditch ect)
Well the ditch isnt completely untrue. It's
Safer than a bridge or car but still pretty dangerous
I’m like smack dab in the middle of Tornado Alley and I have never heard the CivDef Sirens in Attack Mode during a Tornado warning in all my 16 years of life.
This is the right tone to use for Tornado Warning, it's better than the steady tone or all clear tone for an alert!
do they still go off today
I love the sound of that siren. I do anything to hear one up close.
Man I can’t forget that in high school nearly hit Martin high
I love how sirens go off in attack mode!! I have a t 128 and it does attack mode too!! I live in Marengo Indiana!! they test them every Saturday at 12:00 pm!!
I don't think I have tornado sirens in Florida I never spotted one.
Sirens are awesome!!
+SPCwylie2005 I lived in South Florida for 30 years and never heard one in Palm Beach County. They either don't have them or don't use them.
Bily Ann Woodcock where I live(Evansville, Indiana) we have sentry sirens that go off in alert
@@e_master440 or they use the broadcasting thing.
Today is April 3rd 2013 and tomorrow will be a Year since that Happened and I caught it before tomorrow
No The sirens are the same, it's only the tone that is being use, that is different!
In my hometown every time a warning is issued the FIRST thing I do is to GO OUTSIDE AND WATCH THE STORM DESTROY EVERYTHING LOL
The darkness is coming :o I think I'm the only one that thinks of Silent Hill when I hear that noise :P
That lady said she is from Kansas and has gone through 2 tornadoes, yet she's fucking asking what's going on with the sirens going off?!...
if you were curious what that siren looks like, its called a federal signal 2001.
What siren is this? It sounds so good.
Nathan Petrovski Federal signal 130
Federal Signal 2001-130 Attack tone
that was the day a tornado actually struck dallas texas.......look it up youll see
So. What's that mean?
Everyone who lives there pretty much knows this. Wasn't the first. Won't be the last.
That tornado hit near rockwall and my cousins. Live there and when me and my sis went down there they were telling us all about it
You are hearing 2 federal signal 2001sirens in the background!

Credit for the video but realy going out to investigate when a tornado is nearby!!! Bonkers!!
Are you having a air raid or a tornado warning as you said in your title - it's one or the other not both! LOL
if that went off at my house i would have my house insulated more lol
it's very eerie :D
Going outside while siren going off even a tornado warning is not a good idea you don't even know if a tornado is actually right by your house
Not gonna lie, youd be able to tell
2001 sirens sound great at a distance
I heard that also from them as well
Thanks for the comment!
I was born 6 years ago
would this be Dallas Texas?
No, this is NYC, Yes it Dallas!
These sirens scare the shit out of me cause of the conflicts between North Korea and the US and literally I just want to live without nukes

yeah, during replacement they configured the sirens because they considered mother nature an enemy that is attacking.
