- Today’s review is checking out the 3.75” The Vintage Collection Imperial Combat Assault Tank from Star Wars Rouge One. This vehicle is also known as the Hovertank. This vehicle is just starting to show up in retail and online as of July 2018 and is priced at $79.99 at the time of release.

Honorable mention: These tanks were also seen in an episode of Rebels, the Star Wars cartoon.
Definitely some impressive detail, but looks like they charge an arm and a leg for it too.
I finally picked this up for $34 at BBTS...a reasonable price. As you would say, “things are looking really good”. Lots of great detailing. And we have plenty of tank driver troopers to decorate it with. Fantastic.

Very nice review and great closeup pics. It's a nice piece. I noticed in a other review an end cap pops off the orange containers. I like that retro packaging. I have my original Kenner Troop Transporter this reminds me of I show the sound effects record player in a video. What this lacks in SFX it makes up for in details and pop off pieces. MTFBWY
I saw an unboxing video as well where the removed the sides of the containers. I think that is more just part of the assembly of the canister and not really a feature. I could be wrong though. May the force be with you too

Looks amazing. Really nice that it has actual working treads, which I wasn't even aware were on the movie version (I assumed it was a hover tank).
Makes me wish that Hasbro had made a WW1 tank of this quality for their Indiana Jones line a few years back.

I wanted a Nazi one winged airplane from Raiders. Where he fights that huge German mechanic and the mechanic gets propellered to death.

Awesome review, man! I think the tank itself is gorgeous. I love the fact that the kyber crystals are so detailed and interactive. My only complaints with the product is 1. Pricing. Hasbro seems to think that when they actually paint and give some articulation to their products they can gouge your wallet. 2. At that price point, the vehicle should come with a figure. And 3. I'm just curious as to why a tank with wheels is even in a Star Wars movie. I know the separatists used one, but it seems out of place for the Empire 20 years later.
The little kyber crystal pieces were really the cherry on top for this set. I couldn't even speculate why they used a vehicle with wheels on it in the movie. To be honest I didn't give it any thought.

I don’t think it’s nostalgia, I was born in 1995 so I have absolutely no nostalgia for the original vintage box design and I still think it’s aesthetically the best packaging SW toys have ever had. Just works really well for the content

2nd wave of TVC figures will have one. I don't know the street date for the figures but I think any time now.
I will pick three up and paint one like a commander and put it in the top and the normal ones piloting it .
The Hover Tank Driver is scheduled for release in August.
they should do a bigger, better vintage u-wing in this style. with functional cabin area please. and lose the nerf.

I just freed this beauty from the box and it's a gem! The level of detail, artistery and dedication is humbling. It feels like an actual maquette of the real thing. Almost like the miniature version done before creating the real movie prop. I'll pick up my jaw on the floor for now.
LOL it looks like one of the Stormtroopers drop their coffee over the hatch but aside from all that it is a fabulous looking vehicle and I love the step forward with the level of detail, great video

bit too much brown, if you ask me. It almost seems like a relic of days long gone, like one of thoe t55 soviet tanks just rotting in the desert. Otherwise a fantastic piece, one of the finest hasbro has ever released. Truly, the amount of detail and care that went into the design is astonishing. I also apreciate the fact they realized whats their main audience with pieces like this and that they gave upon gimmicks like spring firing projectiles.

$80 so with shipping it will be over $100 then, it should behalf that price Hasbro made GI Joe tanks and they had just as much detail and they were not over priced, they might have been $20 to $30 so everything they put out is 3 times the price
You can get it with free shipping most places and not just amazon. Entertainment earth, dorkside, etc. all offer free shipping on this.

Is that The Vintage Collector X-Wing? I think that was in the $90 range if I remember correctly. In this case of TVC you're not only paying for the toy but also a bit more for the packaging. Maybe I'm just a bit starved for a nice looking vehicle after the last few years but I'm feeling pretty good on this one with the price. Heck, 2 figures fit in the driver area of this vehicle just like they should and the top closes. I think The Last Jedi X-Wing was $60 at TRU and it's hard enough to get that figure to fit and still close the canopy.
I have a massive GI Joe collection as well as Star Wars and GI Joe Hasbro never over charged people and they have very detailed tanks, and the Hovercraft was larger and only like $30 to $40, so Disney Hasbro is over charging and using gimmicks to take advantage of the customer hence there sales prices keep dwindling as no one wants to pay $90 for one small vehicle, it should be $40 to $50 tops, $90 American is over $120 here so way over priced plus shipping that's going to be $150 for just that

Yikes, I didn’t realize you were on the other side of the water from me. Yeah, you end up paying much more. I don’t collect much outside of Star Wars and even then it’s really just the occasional Transformers item so I will admit I’m pretty oblivious to what items of similar scale and design cost among other lines.
plus the action figures from the looks of it barely fit into it and the Hovercraft you can load them up, even the falcon vintage fit more figures and it was not way over priced

But, why did they not put this out when Rogue One figures were selling originally! I would have loved to get it, but I don't know now? It looks good, but why only for the Vintage collection?
Well, I don't have any official reasons but to guess I think they wanted to make a statement with a new vehicle going into the Vintage line and it probably seemed like a good one to start with. Doing this in the other lines where they go smaller and not as many features this might have ended up to be more of a disappointment.
The vintage line is 3.75" right? So you think they would have screwed it up and gave us less detail if they put it in the Rogue One line? I thought all the toys for the regular lines were suppose to be made for the 3.75" line? I just wish they would stop cheapening the regular lines and only putting the good stuff in the vintage line!
It is 3.75" but even with the other vehicles in the regular line they made them smaller. Not all. I'd say the Tie Strikers were a decent size but the U-Wing for example was way under sized for how the vehicle was in the movie. If that was released back in 2005 I truly believe it would have been the size of the Gunship with room to hold some figures in the body of the ship and certainly two seats in the cockpit and not just the one seat we received. Take the Solo Falcon for example where it only holds one figure and you can't even fit Chewbacca in there. As for the tank, I don't have any official knowledge to base it from but my belief is yes, they wouldn't have given it the detail that it was given. Especially given the treatment the vehicles have received in the main line. I doubt it would have had the functioning treads but instead little wheels on the bottom of treads that were just sculpted onto the body. While maybe they would have kept the removable canisters I don't believe they would have gone the extra step to allow you to open up the canister for the crystal part. I agree with you though. I wish the main 3 3/4" line got the love it deserves. Maybe the time will come again.
Too expensive! I paid 80 for my working at at Kenner. Should be 50 max. Shame that it may end up in a clearance shelf and hasbro won’t make another saying no one bought it.

You can briefly, and barely, see the coffee mug at 5:43 in the video. Unfortunately I didn’t know where it was when I recorded the video so I never called it out. Luckily someone commented on the video to point it out. It is sculpted in so not removable. Thanks for the sub!

IMO Rogue one is the only decent movie released under Disney Lucasfilm and the only line I'm collecting, like everything, hot toys, bandai & kotobukiya.

You want a decent vehicle but complain that it’s too expensive smh considering the pricing nowadays this tank is well priced , you want it cheaper then expect to be disappointed. I’m in Australia and you’d be lucky to see any vehicles for under 100 AUD - well done to hasbro and thanks for the video !
TheCustomSWFigure it’s a shame , don’t get me wrong, I don’t like paying the prices that seem to be a reality nowadays. At least in Australia the prices keep going up , a mate of mine did the math on Shipping in the new TVC TIE that’s just been announced - 200AUD + for us to have it - ridiculous but it is what it is - I won’t be buying it. I think with TVC like you say is we pay for the paint job and detailing plus the box , none of it cheap to manufacture

I've seen larger tank toys and other military vehicles with more accessories for $20-40 with the same amount of detail and paint.
SW's brand name isn't worth that much.
You guys paying for these overpriced kid's toys are ruining the hobby for not only other collectors, but the kids.
It's going to be funny when Hasbro is out of business because a handful of saps bought these and the sail barge while they were overpriced.

I just bought one today at a Store called Ollie's. I got it for $15, they were $19.99 but it went on sale at 25% off. Glad I waited... They had around 10 of them, maybe I should have bought more??
it is a very nice vehicle i love it but the original price of $79.99 was steep for a toy.i got mine on clearance for under $40 a few months back. Hasbro is banking on the nostalgia of Kenner, but they haven't lived up to it. the detail is amazing. but there isnt the electronics or action features the kenner vehicles had. no sounds, lights, popping hatches, battle damage what have you. What they do have is reserved for their forcelink line which still relies on an external object who's functionality is questionable. but again, this vintage collection is supposed to be reminicent of the kenner line, regarding playability and ingenuity Hasbro just stops at packaging. i feel you get less for your money.
Not paying that price at all. Neither will a house mom pay that price for there kids that collect star wars this thing is nice but i can pay that price for a AT-AT full scale fitting 10 figures shame. This is destined for the clearance aisle before it even hits retail ill see this in a Tuesday morning in 5 months.
I agree that not too many parents will spend the money on this for their kids. However, I don't know that children are the target audience for The Vintage Collection line. I could be wrong, but I thought this was focused more for the collectors.
It's a SW toy. Kids are always the primary target. The collectors are just the bonus on these.
The way they did the barge they can say that's aimed at collectors, but dude, even that is proof that Hasbro has gotten greedy and is over charging.

If people keep paying for an overpriced item then companies will continue to sell overpriced items. Just wait until they go on clearance or go to Ross. I think Hasbro is ruining the Star Wars toy line just like they did with the Jurassic Park/World toy line.
