- It's always a joy adding another instrument to my collection! My newest instrument is the "Tárrega" model by Saers guitars. It is a replica of an Antonio de Torres style Spanish guitar, similar to one played by the composer Francisco Tárrega.

Hi from Canada 🇨🇦, i own a 1951 Paralupi luthier made guitar that my parents bought for my birthday from his little shop in Rome. I use nylgut strings as these are the only ones that do not buzz. My guitar sounds warm, velvety and intimate, even after all those years. I was taught to play without nails. I don’t understand the need for loudness. I recall my teacher at the London Guildhall School of Music (UK) telling me that if I wished to play a loud instrument I should study the trumpet! 🙂🙂
I just want the tip of my nails to add crispness to the attack, not shape the sound ;-)
@@christianboddum8783 to each his own. However with nylgut strings it is not advisable to have any length of nails. I do however cheat when I play the tremolos in Recuerdos, and have extremely but extremely short nails.
@@christianboddum8783 I am trying out Knobluch. Nails are fine for those strings, but the trebles which are very clear, tend to sound slightly more metallic, which is the sound you probably like, but I’m not too keen on. I only put the trebles on, and kept the nylgut bass ones, as they would buzz.
I love anything by Tarrega… the guitar included. I love your interpretation of Adelita.
He's got me hooked too...
tarrega is up there with composers like bach, mozart, beethoven but he does not get recognized as typical famous classical composers because he is single instrument composer.
My wife walked down the aisle at our wedding to Adelita. It is one of my absolute favourite pieces for guitar, too.
What a tone! Congrats with addition to the family of your instruments. I'll bet is sounds even better live then through studio mic.
Adelita and Tarrega where overall what got me into classical guitar :)
So nice to hear that sound again. Jazz guitarist would do great with this tone, too. You're one of the few younger players who "get it" about the older guitars. Nicely done.
Congratulations on the new guitar! What a beautiful addition to your collection!
But you do understand that we expect a lot of Tárrega's music played on this guitar in the coming weeks/months... 😉
Have fun! 😃
No nails! So soothing and kind.
No nail on the thumb and short nails on the fingers. But I'm trying to use as much flesh in the tone as possible.
I'm considering going back to zero nail soon though ;)
When you said, “they don’t scream at you, they pull you into their world”, I got the chills 😅
Thank you for introducing your new guitar to us. It's beautiful, as is the piece you shared.
Beautiful interpretation of Adelita! Can’t wait to hear more from that guitar!
Congratulations! :) I'm happy for you!
That guitar is beyond gorgeous. Extra thumbs up for Adelita!
Gut strings? All very new to me, but even on my iPad I can hear the superior rich resonance and quality of sound that gives the ‘old Spain feel’ looking forward to hearing more Brandon.
Yo man I’m a metal guy but you have really peaked my interest in classical, I played violin and clarinet for about 6 years so I can already get my way around it, much love man!
Beautiful! I am so jealous.
My dads gonna give me the 1971 pimentel Guitar i learned on growing up. I’m excited to try gut strings on it and get back into playing
Congratulations! Today was a NGD for me as well!!! D'Angelico 59!
What a beautiful sounding Saers M800T!
You have a special knowledge of guitars and stringed instruments. Thank you for sharing!
It sounds very crispy and clear 3D very nice congrats..
What I like most was the Excitement and happiness and the joy, you showed with your Beautiful New Guitar. This means you will be playing everything from the Heart, and the sound you will produce, will be Magical. Also you once had your hands on the Real Original Antonio Torres made guitar.and your playing had that beautiful Spanish Romantic Sound. What you do most well is to bring back that Romantic Sound from the past. Those Romantic
Sounds are most precious and will lasts forever.
I’m waiting for the Brune guitar reveal! Maybe in a few years with the waitlist?
Hey man i just wanted to say thanks for doing the video on gut strings- i got some gamut strings a month ago and its brought me back to playing my classical again, there is really nothing like sound of gut! Ive also thanked Sir Rob Mackillop for his help too!
You're very welcome! It really makes it feel like a completely different instrument. Rob does excellent work!
Congratulations on your wonderful new instrument, sounds magical, but then again it always does when you start playing.. 😹
Thank you!
Souds amazing even with the speaker of my phone. Also Adelita is one of my favourite pieces of Tárrega, thank you for such delightful piece.
I'm not sure what's taunting me more, the new beautiful guitar, or the playing of my challenge piece for the year so beautifully
Congrats on the new guitar!
Love the ageing! I’m a cedar guy but this is a spruce I’d love to have
There's too much to say. . . ! Beautiful!---Beyond beautiful! I saw you use that guitar in some of your shorts and thought you bought the $275,000 guitar haha; but now being able to see it fully---I'm lacking words to describe how gorgeous it is! I was filled with pure ecstasy at 1:23---too beautiful! And Adelita was done so perfectly!
Adelita was the first classical composition i learned. I love the ornamentation you add in the opening phrase of the A section. Just beautiful. Thanks, Brandon =)
Congratulations on your new guitar. Such a beautiful sound and work of art. Thank you for your very helpful videos.
Hi Brandon, congrats on the new guitar it sounds really nice.
You should consider getting a tsugaru shamisen as your next instrument, while it doesn’t fit anywhere in the history of classical instruments like oud, lute and classical guitars, its still an instrument with 4 centuries of history and I think it would be a nice addition to your collection of instruments, as it has been a very satisfying instrument and I never got bored of it since I got it some time last year.
I want to one of the best, and this video made me feel more comfortable taking on classical technique, it has been stressing me out lately because I'm a metal head who fell in love with Jazz but now I have to do classical lol
Simply Beautiful.
Gorgeous! I grew up playing classical exclusively (I'm 42)
For the past five years I have put away the classical and focused on electric guitar (something I felt was missing from a more traditional American youth guitar experience) Your channel is one of the few things keeping me in touch with the world of classical guitar. (although I still listen to Brouwer religiously) I'll probably pick up my humble Alvarez-Yairi classical again soon thanks to you!
Congratulations
You just touched my luthier heart ♥️ sound and character quality over volume, you should make a video about that. Master José Luis Romanillos was the best example of that. Thank you and greetings fron Madrid 🎸
Muchas gracias! I'm happy to hear that. I was in Madrid last month buying a lute from Jose Miguel Moreno. Salud!
@@brandonacker Muchas gracias a ti! Is it usual you coming to Madrid? I really love lutes so I will check of you have a video playing it! Next time you come to Madrid you are invited to visit the workshop and talk guitars, woods acoustics and music! Salud!!

Wonderful tone!
Please make a video on the baglama
great idea
I can hear from here (with Internet connection and crappy laptop speakers) that your new guitar resonates sweetly and, as you say, without being overpowering. What a beautiful instrument. I know you will do it justice...oh, you just did.
For what it's worth, last weekend I bought a Hohner classical guitar ('70s-'80s) for £20.
It, too, 'pulls me into its world' somehow.
It's been used as target practice by a nine-year-old with an air rifle, judging by the dents and hole in the soundboard, but I'm smitten.
It has a nice tone and sings to me despite my clumsy fingers.
Brandon, you feed my need for 'direction' in learning classical guitar (in my late 50's).
You're an inspiration.
Make sure you post a video of a piece played on this guitar after having 'got to know' it properly, eh?
PS Did you know your video is preceded by an advertisement for guitar courses where that dude says "THIS is how you play fingerstyle guitar..."?
Thank you, David! I'm glad you like the guitar and have enjoyed my videos 😊
The ads are selected by Google based on your previous search results. So its different for each viewer but that is funny!
@@brandonacker I like, above all, your musicianship.
Yes; I watch other guitar videos, but that one ad bugs me because it sounds so soul-less...such a contrast.
Great tone to that new guitar! Can't wait to hear it with a set of gut strings 😎
I think so too! I am using gut strings in this video.
Congrats on the new guitar...... It really sounds nice. Very clear with no muddy sound.
wonderful playing, i love your musicality
Do you ever do concerts in Vancouver Canada? Would love to hear you live
I'll be there on tour in March! You can follow Bruce dickeys tour for the cd "on the breath of angels" for details 😊
Super good sound
Beautiful
That looks, and more importantly, sounds, beautiful.
Someone for you to block here, Brandon…
looks good, and what matters most... it sounds great!
Oh my! The Sensei finally played one of my favorite pieces of whole guitar repertoire! I'm so happy ;3
And congratulations for new guitar it's wonderful.
DUDE! im learning adelita really fast! Ive spent the last year trying to learn a song called "Kass' theme" from the legend of Zelda, Breath of the wild, and it has that same two string pluck thing going on after the first three intro notes in Adelita except its quite a bit faster. Im super slow at learning, so this is a breath of fresh air, pun intended.
I had heard Adelita so many times and didn't think about it much over the years, until you played it on this beautiful and gorgeous sounding guitar! It is probably my favorite classical guitar piece and your playing sealed the deal. Thank you so much for sharing your talents with the world!
Il a meilleure que les guitare Espagnole
La mejor Adelita del mundo.
You mean you FOUND YOUR guitar in your attic, you're not fooling us!
Imagine walking into an attic and finding a proper Torres.
@@thatbo8902 Trust me, Brandon Acker and Keanu Reeves will look the same after 20 years, they just make-up themselves to look old.
@@gilagarden2535 Lol yeah I think there's somewhere in an European church a 13th century lithography of Brandon harvesting crops in Italy and hunting vampires in Rumania with Keanu. They're both secretly immortal.
Wonderful sounding instrument. Your playing is amazing. Great content in all your videos, and your teaching style is very relaxing yet informative still. I've been playing for ages and am nowhere near that level. Picked up some good tips from your other videos. Thank you!
Nothing like a classical piece played in excellence
Congratulations on your new guitar. Beautiful tone, great performance of Adelita!
Thanks a lot!
Beautiful tone!
This sounds amazing. Of course your playing is top notch. I am just beginning. I can't wait for my guitar to be delivered.
There's something different about the frequency of the tuning it sounds so perfect tho
I tuned the guitar down a bit.
My new guitar is only a Yamaha G235 but I like it. I'm not really a classical player but there's a few tunes I wanted it for. However, I made the mistake of trying to learn cavatina, again!, and now I have a bad case of guitar elbow 🙄😅.
That guitar played here sounds beautiful, I'm sure mostly because of your high quality playing, I might try and find some gut strings.
Thanks for the videos. Even though it annoys me that I'll never be that good 😅👍
I like the sound of maple guitars
That's an amazing Work you're doing Brandon. The World of classical Guitar is like the Heavy metal Guitar for me. I love this 2 worlds, só diferente, but so iquals.
Bravo.👋👋👋🖤
Thank you, Carlos!
She's beautiful! 😍 and she sounds as good as she looks.
Thnx for playing adelita
Hello Brandon, I’m a fan here. I’d like to hear your thoughts about Saers and Cordoba. I’m stuck between choosing a Cordoba C10 or Saers A70. I can only buy online since both guitars are unavailable locally and I have no chance to test them both in terms of sound quality and ease of playing. Your opinion will surely help. Thanks!
Thanks for being a fan! I would go with the Saers :)
Brandon your point on high tension and volume at the expense of all else is spot on. Since I started playing the lute I've moved to lower tension strings on my classical guitar. Not as fancy as your new instrument! (it's a humble Yamaha CG190S owned since new in the early 1990s) but it's certainly provided some beneift and makes it easier to express things musically. Tempted to try some gut classical guitar strings on it though again the result isn't quite going to be at the same level. Anyway - enjoy your fabulous Saers Tarrega!
Does it feel different, does it take some time to get used to a new guitar? Like driving a new car?
Charm, fascination, humour, grace, music is the soul of the universe... as Adelita transported me to the quietude of my soul where only the true magic of a poet, musician or philosopher can take me to.
Your guitar sounds very good. Do you know what is its air resonance frequency? Almost no guitar shop would tell you. It's such important parameter can tell a lot about the characteristic of the guitar.
Thanks! That's not something I've ever taken into account personally. I listen and go by what feels easy to play and makes a sound i enjoy
It sounds rich in sound, a warm sound that doesn't scream at you. Very well played.
Excellent work! 👍
Nice!
I would kill to have your long fingers. You KNOW how blessed you are, right?
Great explanation of the purposeful sound design of the older instruments and your take on different string types and their effects. I enjoy your historical explanations and learn something with every video. Fabulous, emotive playing as usual. Thank you.
Congrats Brand! I just can't imagine how charmed and happy you should be right now with that new one
Hope you enjoy and continue being so good as so far
Beautiful!
Maestro I love the variety of pieces you made me discover from your Luth répertoire although I sometimes wonder about the lack of presence of Bach even though he had a huge amount of pieces!
What a coincidence! I just got a new guitar too! I got a used Yamaha C-45M on CraigsList for only $60. It's no Tarrega, for sure but I like it, as I'm no virtuoso.
Thank you for your videos! Because of your performance capricho arabe on the Hauser I bought a 1993 Takemine C132s. When I was looking for strings everyone recommended high tension but it didn't sound right and in one of your videos you recommended the nylgut low tension and man am I sold on this guitar now!
Thank you so much for introducing me to classical guitar!
I'm glad to read this!
I wonder how playing classical guitar compositions on an electric guitar would sound, seems like an interesting video idea 💡
Also, amazing guitar it looks and sounds beautiful
I’ll tell you right now it’s weird, because you can style exactly what sound you want
I play 90% of the time on a jazz archtop amplified by 2 electric guitar pickups mixed with an acoustic mike, classical and jazz. It works very well. There are lots of advantages to play classical pieces this way. Of course, you have to choose carefully a type of pickups that approaches a natural acoustic sound as much as possible, high output hamburgers, (uh) I mean humbuckers won't do the job.
reminds me of that mf who did beethoven dubstep
There are some capricho arabe cover on e-guitar, sound dope
Congratulations on the new guitar #odacorpjapan
Enhorabuena! Tocas fantástico todo de mi compositor favorito, Francisco Tárrega.
Hey cuz. Catching up on these videos! Also I love your hair lolz
When you played that part or Capricho Árabe, I thought, "He should play Adelita with that guitar" I really loved how you played Tárrega's piece here.
Please tell me the piece you played at 1:23 I can’t remember the name!!!!
Absolutely beautiful! I wonder how harmonics would sound on it. Perhaps you could do a recording of Songe Capricorne?
NICE! I like it
Love from Damascus
what is the name of the piece from 2:24
😍
Absolutely beautiful👍 from Danmark
Really beautiful playing as always !!!!
And you make a very strong argument for Torres type guitars and gut strings !!!
But aren't Saers guitars famous for their loudness?
@ 2:25 to 2:34, were you just improvising or was that part of a composition?
A bit of both! I started with a villa lobos prelude and then improvised a cadence.
Hi Brandon, what strings and tension would you recommend for this guitar? Unfortunately i can’t get gut where i live :(
Were the bass strings gut wound with metal strings in 19th century?...and are they now in modern gut sets?
Nice gutarrega
I would love to buy this. However, $4,999 dollars would be enough to buy me a car or a simple cottage in my country 😭.
Sorry man, but maybe i could save it up once i get a job 😊.
I hope it will be still in stock 😂
Congratulations! I am wishing you a lifetime of making beautiful music making with this lovely instrument. I do have the sense that we really can’t appreciate it properly through the internet.
I have to say I’m a little dismayed at the aging/relicing of the guitar. I don’t mind a little yellowed lacquer. Certainly I certain amount of “aging” or antiquing seems to be the norm in the realm of violin making. The whole relining thing has become such a contentious issue in the world of electric guitars over the past 10 years or so. I do have to shake my head a little bit.
Lovely playing. Tárrega is such a wonderful composer. The guitar can be such a magical instrument. And nothing is better than hearing a piece that was composed on the instrument and with its very specific qualities and characteristics in mind. That’s not to say that there hasn’t been very many brilliant transcriptions and arrangements of music originally created for other instruments.
I really enjoy your channel and your pure devotion to the guitar and other stringed instruments.
