These stories make for interesting television, no doubt there is still missing treasure but in private hands. These modern day treasure hunters are only 90 years too late.... Most was recovered right after the war during the rebuild period.
thinking about all the people that obviously still got paintings hidden away , never to be shown or talked about . i mean theres surly a blackmarked for things this valueble . but still , having something so valuable , without being able to display it .
A truly wonderful documentary. It’s a very dangerous thing to be doing. Exciting but frustrating too. How wonderful if these art works can be found. That such evil men who for their own satisfaction have deprived the world was so much beauty is beyond belief.
Having watched a few of these fascinating documentaries whilst i enjoyed them it is extremely irritating that the same information is repeated again and again in the same episode. By continually recapping very little action is drawn out
I think it would be interesting to look at the plundered art piece by piece and trace it's history backwards from 1945. How did those that originally owned these items before WW2 acquire them. Magnificent wealth is often related to enormous corruption and wrong doing.
33:51 if under the water would be too dark to see and too deep of silt or mud then go into that lake with an industrial magnet that is strong enough to get the metal out at least. Metal like coins or anything that could be from the treasure. Just a little thinking that might help. Go to South America and look. 41:59 this dude had to have had kids. Might they have gotten his loot out of the bank after his death?
Edda was Göring's only daughter. In the 1950s and 1960s many of the valuable gifts she received as a child, including a Madonna and Child painting, became the subject of long legal battles, most of which she eventually lost in 1968.
I don't understand. If Yaron has a sonar picture of the crates in the water, why doesn't he just get the sonar again and put the boat directly above it and dive there? Why is he guessing where it might be?
Or perhaps the safes in Swiss capital! A recent utube program showed a high ranking American female bank official state that she saw too much and broke numerous Swiss banking regulations in the process ! Paintings were also mentioned seen !
Much respect for the Monuments Men. So much we still don't know, but we shall never forget the terrible blight that that autocratic, demonic regime inflicted on the innocent. Its so subtle and 'easy' for that kind of thing to come again.
Wel tha fake curuncy an tha art can be in lake tupliz caz it wdd be dezovd bay today .. but silver gold an adre julury. Mith survival.. but caz of tha tink slick it is gonna be sating to get tha out of ther. Yeas.
Goëring a very high IQ ??? Was he ever tested ??? Or is that just a statement ? Because, as a Reichsmarshall for the Air, he definetely committed plenty of blunders....
And why the heck do these guys keep on talking about "Houtsticker" in stead of "GGGGGGoudstikker" ? Do we say Hreat Britain or the Hreat Barrier Reef ??? Holden Retriever ? Holdrush ???
Fantastic documentary. Thank you.

My stomach flipped at him crawling into that tiny space at the hall. I could never do that.

18:30 "He looks very very satisfied": he rather looked smug :)
Just heartbreaking. So much trauma for descendants and so much lost to history. All for greed. 🙏🙏🙏👵🇦🇺
It seems highly foolish that he would have gone down without assessing what was in the hole ?
What if it had been the entrance to a 60 foot shaft ?

I keep hoping they find a huge hoard.

Are spoils of war considered theft?
Yes. Looting is a criminal offence.
