Certain parts such as the Instrument Cluster, EWS, CAS, DME, LM, ZGM, FEM, etc., contain mileage data. Driving vehicles with such swapped parts may result in mileage corruption, and therefore must not be used. The CCC/CIC Headunit, MASK, CHAMP2, RADIO2 or Headunit-High has enabling codes for certain features, e.g., satellite radio. If a feature is already enabled, but sees a different VIN on the bus system during power-up of the module, it cancels the code automatically. When an enabling code is canceled, it is not reusable. The only way to enable the feature again is to either contact Technical Service or replace the control unit at your own cost. Therefore, swapping these types of parts on E-Series vehicles is not recommended.

You need to get ISTA software from me and an BMW ICOMA2 or ICOM NEXT to read out the car and then i can look at any fault codes to determined what must be done.

If the BMW is working OK, leave it alone. New updates can work fine too, but read the Release notes of ISTA-P latest version to see what control units might be affected with latest file bugs before you proceed. My Disclaimer is do not be stupid.
I have BMW E60 525i and trying to update DME/DDE and when I enter ZB number it won't recognize it. I was able to update some other ones, but can't seem to get the DME/DDE for my car. My Car jerks and it seem like updating transmission software will stop the jerk. Thank you.
Hello Tony; If the car jerks it maybe the drive train, like failing clutch pack in the differential of the slip or bad bushings, failing U-joints. If it is the Tranny then it may not be solved with the update of a software nature of the EGS (Mechatronic) of valves going bad or dirty fluid, or failing torque convertor. Use ISTA-P to update the EGS (Mechatronic). Winkfp can do all updates for every module if you have the right .GRP, PRG & .IPO files.

I am using Winkfp, but when I enter The ZB number it saying it can't find it. Car has never had update expect the one I've tested. I will try ISTA-P. Wish you were closer.

Is there any chance of recover the module? Inpa shows status Ok but also error 12 programming abort. Tried emergency flash in Winkfp but ended up with signature error..... can you advise please
Recently i tried to update my car with little experience using sss, during the process i was asked to turn off terminal 15 (shut of ignition) and i fail to do that process so i continued. Now my interior electrical components wont operate and i was told my car was on bone state. I can turn it on and drive but the lights stay on so it drains battery, car wont lock, seats wont move, and worst of all i try to establish a connection with the car and it fails to communicate i cant even read code with inpa, i cant access

+sai paladugu Active steering error, you must look at the fault code using ISTA-D and run a calculated test plan and see if it says you must do a "Teaching End Stop" so it be calibrated to EPS. Do you have Teamvr?
The SZL must be program with ISTAP after flash with Winkfpt. ISTAP will update to reflect latest i-level. it will program the other Modules in its own measures plan. SZL have to be calibrated in ISTA-D if fault codes are found with it inside ISTA-P after successful programming.

I replaced the M-ask unit on 2006 E60 after my original went dead. I got an error on the display saying Head unit is not programmed properly, I configured my winxp Machine to run INPA, DIS, PROGMAN, WINKFP. Using extracted files from Progman I was able to configure WINKFP. All works except progman tells me I need an OPP ICOM cable. In INPA UIF I have ZB numbers from the MOSTGW, MMI/CCC, VIRTSG90, and VIRTSG91 and the all have the incorrect vin numbers. So when I use WINKFP to Enter the ZUSB I get an error 704 Error determining ZB number check assembly file. then it reads something like sg.fam DAT. Can you tell me if I incorrectly configured WINKFP or is there some steps I am missing to complete the updates. I only have a USB OBD cable so I want to proceed very careful as not to ruin my car. Any advice you could offer would be great.
figured out i was configured incorrectly, used SP DATEN v53 files and it worked. Now When I got to program, I am being told ecu address are not set, no answer from ECU or gateway.
Ok lots of progress made. After a meltdown due to a failed flash which temporarily disabled the care, I managed to successfully flash, MMI/CCC, VIRTSG90 and VIRTSG91 and it now has my correct vin number. I am now getting error while trying to flash MOSTGW. I get the following errors: Error 207 programming could not be determined. 2080 PABD programming state invalid PROG_TYP, PROG_ORDER 2080 Error Programming state invalid SG_STATUS_LESEN 2080 Error Programming state invalid Any suggestion on how to flash this module?

Kombi has eeprom that cannot be programmed over OPBD2 with Winkfp. Need to remove Kombi, desolder the eeprom. read eeprom content with eeprom reader. Edit binary file to change vin. write edited file back to eeprom. solder on eeprom. put kombi in car and it will be ok.

Use ISTA-P to update your BMW . if the e66 is working properly don't update it. Leave it alone if BMW operates OK.

Use ncsexpert to code aux add the SA option to the vehicle order. Look on UA-cam for what module you code for this mp3 & Aux function.

Is it worth it to update these modules if they haven't been updated since the car was manufactured? Or is the risk greater than the reward?

Can I use WinKFP while engine running? Or only press start without holding the break pedal?
Turn on engine to keep battery charger above 13volts. Or use another car with jumper cables to charger BMW when flashing.

FYI resolved this issue with ECU address by recopying the OBD.ini to the c:windows/system and making sure BMWFAST in the Diagnosis Protocol of WinKFP
MOSTGW must be flashed with ICOMA2 via ethernet port (Local area network) not with KDCAN cable.
