- Dash to Athens. Bad weather has us turn back. Part 1 Cindy has to return to the UK for a family emergency. We have to cross the Aegean sea at the worst time of year, and we are 5 weeks later than we planned! See how we get on in Part 1.

We are now in season 7
In 2018 we left the UK to sail around the world slowly. After Brexit, a "Pandemic" and major heart surgery we are still sailing, documenting our travels and showing you what we have learned so far.
We are hoping to complete our journey, and travel right around the world even if we have had a few setbacks along the way. We will continue at our own pace and that may be fast or slow. We want to be sure not to miss anything and have stories to tell our grandchildren when we are old and grey.

I'm in the same situation. The ICON-EU model in Windy has given me the best wind/gust forecast in Greece this season. However, all of them are unreliable over 12h or so into the future. There's now huge wildfires sweeping across the Athenian peninsula and up to 60kn Meltemi winds from NNE. For overnight protection I recommend anchoring in the SSW corners of islands when in the area. Be safe out there.
Thanks Thomas. I think we all forget that a forecast is just a prediction and this years supper sunspots have had a massive effect. From Northen lights on the south coast of the UK to snow in Brazil. We have to play with the hand we are dealt. It's not often we turn back but I think it was the right thing to do? Sail Safe mate. Ant & Cid
