  • Over the last 2 weeks, there has been a very noticeable surge in sightings of snakes in the George areas, and this is typical with the seasonal change in South Africa in spring.
The recent very cold spell, followed by a warm week has seen a high level of activity, and hikers are urged to keep a close eye out, especially with the ability of the puff adders to camouflage themselves. Jeff Ayliffe of Group Editors went out to see if rumours were true, and was joined by snake expert Nick Kolberg

A treat to find one, very special. Easy to remove. No threat. Just avoid.
