This is my favorite album ever ! For 15 years it was Misplaced Childhood by Marillion. When I discover Blackwater Park....wow ! Its a masterpiece ! The album name is a tribute to a 70's German prog band called Blackwater Park.

Opeth is not only for first listen. The good thing about them is that you can listen 50+ times and still discover something new.

For me. One of the greatest metal songs from one of the greatest metal albums. Huge fan of Martin Lopez’s drumming. He later went on to form the amazing prog metal supergroup Soen. Think you would love the song ‘Lotus’ from them 💙🤘🎼
They became legends doing what they do likely before you were born. You either get it or you dont.

Not a big Opeth fan but I don't mind their stuff with singing(not into growling).
That has got to be one of the most crushing riffs ever recorded during that first verse. I personally love when he mixes the clean and growled vocals and I do feel the song could be even better if he sang some of the parts but it's still a monster of a song. Cheers!
You're officially in the rabbit hole. It goes on and on from this album to My Arms Your Hearse, Ghost Reveries, Deliverance, Still Life and Watershed, there isn't another group that follows the same theme with such diversity. Enjoy the journey!!
