- This is a discussion of the Fiorillo Etude/Caprice #32. I’m using the International Music Company (IMC) publication, edited by Ivan Galamian (catalog #2178).
Please note: the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) says this should be performed at 46-54 to the quarter note. They also stipulate that measures 7 and 15 should be played Bb instead of the printed B natural.
Several years on, after we took your advice on the bow grip, may I say thank you! It changed a lot, with a completely better outcome
I’m so glad. I watched Misha perform the Bruch and it was wonderful! Congratulations on such fine playing, Misha. Best wishes for continued success.
@@professorV Thank you so much! All the best in doing your valuable work for people!
Thank you for making this for students. Finally found someone (you, almost the only one) who followed the printed rhythm. I heard so many others play with “wrong” rhythms at m. 7(last beat), m. 15 (3rd beat), m. 23 (treating nachachlag as measured rhythm and playing the half note as dotted quarter), m. 31 (3rd beat), wondering if certain editions have them printed that way. I use the International (Galamian) édition and have been teaching that way over the years.
Hi Cecilia, thanks for the comments. I’m using the International/Galamian edition here as well. I do own the Carl Fischer publication but never cross-referenced the two. It’s at work so I can’t look. Anyway, best wishes to both you and your students!
