was there any energy misplay? all ive seen were tactical non energy using but im a human might have not noticed one, hmm i missed that 22:55 one where he could just kill enemy :x
Htown, he absolutely did it "untactically" because he played a clash, and can't internalize that he gets THREE ENERGY per turn, not that he's limited to playing three cards per turn.
@Vanitas Early on he wasted an energy because he played a Double Tap that had been upgraded by Armaments and he didn't realize that would affect an extra attack. So Dropkick ended up giving him more energy that he didn't use because he wasn't expecting it. And you know what? It's fair enough that he didn't know how upgraded Double Tap works. A more cautious player might have checked, but that might be an unrealistic expectation. But I think it's at least reasonable to expect him to look at the damn screen. He does all of his energy calculations in his head, then hits end turn. He doesn't look at the numbers, he doesn't even seem to be aware of the card costs turning red when they can't be played, he just goes by memory. And his memory isn't always bad, it's just that it isn't perfect, and that makes it infuriating when he's using it in preference to information that's very clear on the screen. It's like if someone were playing Isaac and constantly acting like they had Curse of the Unknown on even when they don't.
He didn't realize that he'd upgraded his double tap to make his dropkick go off twice. But yeah, it'd be nice if he looked at the number once in a while haha.
In eggs defence, it's hard to keep track of double taps double effect when you are thinking in between attacks, he's actually growing up though...the first floor was really good, nice decision making, the relic was questionable, but still the best outcome probably...But yeah, that turn could've been godlike instead of..decent
maikel breederland if you're thinking about your attacks after every turn you think about the buffs and debuffs in play aswell as how much energy you have left
And before that he took the runic pyramid... and it didn't really sync with him trying to start with armaments just to upgrade his opening hand (which he way over-valued for that point of the game). Then he takes fucking card draw cards which he doesn't need instead of energy. This fucking egg.
It's like he doesn't read or understand more than a single imput at once. When he's starts drawing 3 energy clashes... then realizes he can't play or discard them... and he specifically stopped picking up 2+ energy cards, I just... I dunno what to say anymore.
He has a full hand like, every fight. 3/3 energy max... he picks up Battle Trance over Seeing Red, because he's internalized that it's a better card. I seriously think he only can see things as having a set value at any point in time.
Seriously. He demonstrably plays well over 60 hours of games a week, with more off camera. It's literally his life. He however has issues with simple things. I'm not gonna spoil it, but wait til you see how this ends. = )
Runic pyramid plus clash is sorta a dissynergy Edit: confusion...with a low energy....clash build....NL, i'm not like the other jabronies who are physically hurt by the misplays...but what was that...
It's phenominal when you only pick up like two defensive cards a run anyway. He was sleeping on the Perfected Strikes though. He was grabbing Pommels all day. Either way, that ending was what really killed the run. It's like he can't understand his deck ever, at any single moment and he simply lucks into something good sometimes.
The energy again, isn't the issue. He simply cannot form a deck. He goes for a thing, then is distracted by shiny "better than strike" cards and we end up here. He picked the worst relic available for a final. Free healing as the Ironclad (except he's terrified of "HP as a resourse") everytime you upgrade is huge. He just doesn't get it yet, despite being (at the time the video was filmed) like... almost 40 hours in. I just... why doesn't he f***ing read the screen? This isn't babby's first vidya gam, he does this as a job.
DOUBLE TAP DROPKICK AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ITS RIGHT THERE NORTHERNLION AND YOU DREW 4 CARDS EVERY TURN YOU COULD'VE RECYCLED THE DAMAGE OVER AND OVER EVERY TURN AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Passing on Seeing Red was the beginning of the end. At least we'll get two floors in the next one as well, he won't last long with this disaster he's created.
31:55 He is getting so paranoid of misplaying, that he is seeing illusions (He thought he had Headbutt before the card draw, but he drew it after the card draw)
He skipped the later, better picks. He selected the early trash tier. I don't know how to explain it, in words... really. NL has this bizarre obsession with "NOW is better" and "OFFENSE at all times" that taints every run in every game. The man doesn't respect armour, or patience. He's even said his "favorite games tend to end in fifteen or twenty minutes." I'm not judging him on that, like what you like. However, you play something like this, and you need to think about the future, like Eckart.
NL still needs to learn when to properly use a potion. 18:52 He uses a 20 damage potion to get rid of block and do 18 damage. He could just use it on a non defending turn to do 20 damage. Even better would be to save it since it’s a boss fight and he could interrupt with it.
He uses Battle Trance that gives him a Headbutt and then he goes "yeah... I definitely should've used Headbutt before that" like. U just. Got it. Thanks to Battle Trance. U literally couldn't have used it earlier eggs continues to be bad and I continue to love this series despite the Pain that it brings me
Harpo Bobertson it will save us from a painful grind because it's going to kill him on the next combat and we won't have to suffer from this disaster deck anymore.
"The mire clashes we have the better the chance to get a hand without any skills" Thats also the use case for corrupion which you were unsure about at the beginning. Getting a rare combo enabler like that early helps guide you deck choices and gives you fantastic decks rsther than being general early.
Psst. If you want to be aggressive while still getting some blocks, Iron Wave is an excellent target for Double Tap. Would have worked great against the Centurion.
Protip: Double Tap + Bash applies Vuln before the second Bash. In this vid, NL had an enemy down to 25HP and had Bash up to 10dmg and held a DT in his hand. He even suggested going DT+Bash, but only counted the 20 base damage that would deal, not the 50% extra damage the second Bash would deal for Vuln. It would have been exactly 25 damage. Bash 1 hits, 10 damage, 2 vuln applied. Bash 2 hits, 10 damage + 50% + 15 damage. Total 25.
Northernlion! Perfected Strike works for ANY card with the word strike in it. Pommel Strike, Twin Strike, and your regular strikes. The more you have the more damage it does. Works AMAZING with pen nib too. KEEP ANY CARD WITH THE WORD STRIKE!
I just bought the game myself, which is probably the first PC game I bought in at least 10 years, which is completely caused by you playing it. I've always loved watching you (and the guys) playing games, but I'm usually too busy to play any myself and usually think the money is wasted on an experience which can be lived in just as fun a way vicariously, but this game just appealed to me in such a manner that I had to play it for myself. If anyone ever asks for proof streamers/youtubers deliver free and far more effective promotion of games; look no further.
Northernlion logic: "I have lots of card draw, don't discard cards and will continue to complain about not needing any more card draw and having too much and not wanting to thin my deck. Hmmm... what card should I add to my deck? Extra card draw it is!" =8)-DX
I bought the game because of you and it was an amazing decision! I've had some insane runs. Last time I won I had discard deck with the Silent that did dmg and gave me armor every time I discarded and I got to choose a new card from 3 at the end of every turn. Btw if you encounter the ? where you read a book and then give 10hp for a relic, DO IT! Those book relics are amazing and make really fun decks, they change up the game a lot!
Yo NL a tip for corruption (skills cost 0 and have exhaust) it's more versatile than it seems. In a 15 card deck with the Ironclad you'll have maybe six skills or eight if you're skill focused, assuming you don't use every skill in your hand every turn you'll have skills in your deck for two shuffles, and free skills which lets you focus on aggro. By the third shuffle a regular battle or first floor elite is over and you're looking to draw only attacks anyway. For a boss you can simply not play corruption on your first shuffle and extract value from your skills that way! Then by end of floor two/floor three you'll have a 20-25 card deck with 10-15 skills and depending on what boss trinket you take, more mana, by which point corruption costs you like -15 mana, which is great. The key word is tempo. Try it out, just don't combo it with barricade!
Slow down NL almost every video you end your turn playing too fast when you had an energy and a card to play. Beyond that, love these so much I watch them EVERY day.
evolve is a very very good draw card, whenever you draw a wound you draw 1 card and it puts 2 wounds in your deck when upgraded it lets you draw 2 whenever you draw a wound.
NL you might want to try a block strategy on your next ironclad run. The essentials of the deck are an upgraded barrier, iron waves, headbutts, upgraded bodyslams, as well as various defense cards like armaments, shrug it off, etc. Even defend cards will do the trick. Juggernaut is nice too, but not necessary. As far as potions go dexterity potions would be helpful. If you feel you don't want to spend a whole lot of time in fights, you may want to supplement your deck with strength upgrades like inflame, and spot weakness. I just beat the game for the first time with this type of deck and it was a lot of fun. BTW at the time of writing this, the community has done almost 600,000,000 dmg to the heart.
Northernlion at the end of this video " Im actually fairly powerful and close to a god like run what will make this run better? ... oh i know!" chops his own arm off and punches himself in the eggs. God damn ... that Snecko eye will bite you hard.
Here's my thinking on your block/energy potion trouble... if you get 2 energy you can choose either blocking that ammount (around 12 with blocks,) or attacking ( this is all supposing under standard conditions).
NL: *Gets an attack card that doesn't block clash and would clear wounds that do cost clash, that he also can't get rid of because of runic pyramid, from his deck* "All of these cards are trash."
Ryan, u can look at the map at anytime to benefit your decisions: at the beginning you could’ve known that there’s an early shop and taken the curse to remove 2 cards.
Is there a possibility of one turn kill every time when you have Doubletap + Headbutt + Dropkick and the vulnerability artifact? You doubletap, play dropkick for +2 energy and headbutt to get Doubletap and Dropkick back and just go infinite?
Oooooh nooooo. You have runic pyramid and snecko's eye... I'm sorry to inform you that you just ruined your run, I know because I made the exact same mistake out of curiosity. Snecko's eye will occasionally give you 3 energy cost strikes and defends that you're gonna wish you could discard but you can't. Your hand will slowly fill up with cards that are simply too expensive. It's a nightmare. You might get through the easy fights on luck alone with some nice 0 energy cards, but it'll catch up to you against the elites and the boss especially. You really need to be able to cycle cards fast if you want to take advantage of snecko's eye.
NL, I am enjoing this series very much. That being said, the reason you don't have the right kind of deck for stuff exhaust decks is because you tend to avoid cards like Corruption and Dark Embrace, since they are not apparently useful from the get go. Next time you come across an early Corruption, please pick it up and see how if it works?
@27:42 I'd rather save Double Tap for next turn, so we can use it with a 1 or a 0 energy cost card. That's not how you use that card. Using a 2 cost card twice in one turn is basically the only thing that card is for until it's upgraded. Somebody make him understand that that's not how to use that card. I'm yelling at my computer but I don't think he can hear me.
PLEASE LOOK AT YOUR ENERGY BEFORE YOU END TURN
was there any energy misplay? all ive seen were tactical non energy using but im a human might have not noticed one, hmm i missed that 22:55 one where he could just kill enemy :x
Vanitas Vanitatum Et Omnia Vanitas nope, no misplays, whenever NL doesnt use his energy, he is really tactically intimidating his enemies.
Vanitas Vanitatum Et Omnia Vanitas you did not notice but maybe it's because we are getting used to this sort of missplays (:
Htown, he absolutely did it "untactically" because he played a clash, and can't internalize that he gets THREE ENERGY per turn, not that he's limited to playing three cards per turn.

It hurts my soul.
It brings me physical pain, yet I still watch it.
Alright, time for our daily punishment.
Omg, did he just get a Snecko eye... with three clashes in his deck.
God damn it.
I haven't watched yet, but PLEASE don't tell me he actually did this...
Shrexual Tension OK... I won't tell you
"It's gonna be fun"... to watch this deck go up in flames.

So he’s always been like this😭😭😭
That 23:03 hurt me so bad
naruyodeb same.. :'/
the double tap dropkick was so good and then he threw it away
The synergy with clash and Snecko is insane..!
Runic pyramid plus clash is sorta a dissynergy

He didn't even pick up an epic card
McAryon YOUR RIGHT, HE COULD'VE TOTALLY TOOK BLUDGEON, THAT PLUS THE DOUBLE TAP COULD'VE BEEN AWESOME...:c
Htown1738 well, not with just 3 energy
The energy again, isn't the issue. He simply cannot form a deck.
He goes for a thing, then is distracted by shiny "better than strike" cards and we end up here.

His hand is full like all the time but he still takes all the card draw he can take... good job egg.
Passing on Seeing Red was the beginning of the end.
At least we'll get two floors in the next one as well, he won't last long with this disaster he's created.
He took card draw when he could have taken the oo energy card which I think gets upgraded to ooo.
Literally, exactly what I said MehYam2112.
MehYam2112 gets upgraded to 0 cost, not 3 energy
"We don't NEED Battle Trance+" takes Battle Trance+
31:55 He is getting so paranoid of misplaying, that he is seeing illusions (He thought he had Headbutt before the card draw, but he drew it after the card draw)
at least he notices :D
I saw that too which bugged me XD
1 / 3
Clash is becoming a dead card. 5 seconds later. Dude gimme a Clash!
ah yes the old snecko eye pick up with three clashes in deck
A part of me dies when he does not use his energy
Everyone get ready for the misplays
The eye is literally a run ender here.
John Cashen yeah gg
his deck was terrible anyway
Doubt it.
“We DONT need this card”
Yet he takes it anyways, when his hand already gets crazy full
30:40 hurt me the most. Doesn’t need card draw because of a full hand with not enough energy. *grabs card draw over extra energy gain*
11 months later it also hurt me, physically >_
4 years later and I’m raging from this moment
5:10 the throws begin... Incidentally, he believes he "overvalues" keeping a thin deck, while simultaneously never skips... I just don't even.
IamI3rian he skipped half of them!
He skipped the later, better picks. He selected the early trash tier.
I don't know how to explain it, in words... really.
NL has this bizarre obsession with "NOW is better" and "OFFENSE at all times" that taints every run in every game. The man doesn't respect armour, or patience.

eggs continues to be bad and I continue to love this series despite the Pain that it brings me
it was far better than previous episodes?
Vanitas Vanitatum Et Omnia Vanitas yes but it still hurt, that moment especially (but like I said, I love this series!!)
did this Z A N Y individual just acquiesce snecko eye
i am unsure if i am terrified or aroused
Harpo Bobertson it will save us from a painful grind because it's going to kill him on the next combat and we won't have to suffer from this disaster deck anymore.
dolphin lunggrin lol, deck seemes pretty nice untill he picked up snecko
the deck was fine. NL is just garbage at this game
>Has pyramid
>picks up battle trance over seeing red
FUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!
"The mire clashes we have the better the chance to get a hand without any skills"

Yes! I was having cancer withdrawals
Too far, man.
paradoxicalGentleman No one gives a fuck lmao.
Still running that 12/21 build. Geez man, 2x per day through the backlog please. = )
Protip: Double Tap + Bash applies Vuln before the second Bash. In this vid, NL had an enemy down to 25HP and had Bash up to 10dmg and held a DT in his hand.

Northernlion! Perfected Strike works for ANY card with the word strike in it. Pommel Strike, Twin Strike, and your regular strikes. The more you have the more damage it does. Works AMAZING with pen nib too. KEEP ANY CARD WITH THE WORD STRIKE!
OMG the miss play at 22:29 double tap made dropkick give you an extra energy...
Only increase draw if you also increase energy. Best silent run i ever had was roughly 12 cards per turn and over 10 energy every 2-3 turns.
Andrew Ford you probably had ice cream yeah?
Luckily yes. certainly the best enabler of that build but one could manage 4-5 energy per turn with a fair number of that flying knee card.
NL, keeping the deck thin and dense with card-draw/synergies is THE MOST IMPORTANT part of winning this game.
Watching this makes me want to slay my spire
Picks card draw cards when he's maxing out his hand every combat... lol
I just bought the game myself, which is probably the first PC game I bought in at least 10 years, which is completely caused by you playing it. I’m so glad he put clash in his deck. It’s one of my favorite deck archetypes.
Northernlion logic: "I have lots of card draw, don't discard cards and will continue to complain about not needing any more card draw and having too much and not wanting to thin my deck. Hmmm... what card should I add to my deck? Extra card draw it is!"
=8)-DX
All I know is after the next video NL will never pick up Snecko Eye again.
Honestly, it’s impressive how NL managed to turn a run completely upside down with that last decision. I can’t wait to see his reaction next episode.
"In the end, I am stupid." @30:29 Truer words have never been spoken...
Havoc synergizes with headbutt so well
Yeees! Don’t really care that NL messes it up sometimes because this is pure awesome
"Sometimes"
Yeah the misplays are really bad but this is still my favorite series right now.
Mine too, but I lasted longer than most watching KSP as well. = )
LET'S
GOOOOOOOOO!
My blood pressure spikes every time he hovers over 'End Turn' mid turn just knowing that the mad man might actually press it.
The key word is tempo. Try it out, just don't combo it with barricade!
He took battle trance over seeing red. oO
47:25 =-= the egg is literally blind... could easily have double tapped and used 3 clashes.... lucky for him it was strong enough on the next turn.
Oh man, I predict confused might not be good with pyramid.
For any guys saying welcome misplay the spire...This run was sooooooooooooooooooo goood, by far the best episode yet....
Slow down NL almost every video you end your turn playing too fast when you had an energy and a card to play. Beyond that, love these so much I watch them EVERY day.
22:41 What is that sound when he mouses over the card?
@30:00 double tap bash for 25 total. First hit vulberable second hit finishes.
EDIT: ok - he sas another soloution that worked just as well.
"You didn't use an energy this turn" is gonna be the "you missed a tinted rock" of this series.
Double tap + drop kick gives you an extra energy
Double Tap then Bash, so you make him vulnerable for the second Bash which also adds more vulnerable.
3:40 "We don't need card draw, we might prefer to have more energy, but I'm just gonna take the useless card draw instead".
With Runic Pyramid isn't it possible that his hand will be filled with unplayable wounds?
evolve is a very very good draw card, whenever you draw a wound you draw 1 card and it puts 2 wounds in your deck when upgraded it lets you draw 2 whenever you draw a wound.
Needs energy
Has Runic Pyramid that fills his hand by turn 3
Still takes Battle Trance.
QuestForTheGrail and gives up seeing red for it>:(
Here's my thinking on your block/energy potion trouble... if you get 2 energy you can choose either blocking that ammount (around 12 with blocks,) or attacking ( this is all supposing under standard conditions).
Get the upgrade that prohibits you from ending your turn while still having energy.
Anyone know why boss mode shifted before the 16 damage was dealt?
NL: *Gets an attack card that doesn't block clash and would clear wounds that do cost clash, that he also can't get rid of because of runic pyramid, from his deck*
"All of these cards are trash."
-has a full hand the entire last fight “man I should really choose card draw over energy”
Another episode of misplays the spire by the legend himself
Ryan, u can look at the map at anytime to benefit your decisions: at the beginning you could’ve known that there’s an early shop and taken the curse to remove 2 cards.
Hey, NL, have you ever considered looking at your energy meter while you play?
Coruption + stick is actually amazing
21:15 Oh, holy shit. I thought the exact same thing. O.O That makes that SO much better than I thought!
I think your going through the same process of Big Tam (sleepingcycles)
Isnt bird faced urn plus combust just +1 hp and 4 damage every turn?
Paul no because it only heals when the power is PLAYED like only once
4:04 NL you should transform for the zane. Also you’re overvaluing thinning.
NL, the cards Rupture and Combust have a very good synergy
Is there a possibility of one turn kill every time when you have Doubletap + Headbutt + Dropkick and the vulnerability artifact?
You doubletap, play dropkick for +2 energy and headbutt to get Doubletap and Dropkick back and just go infinite?
nvm since you don't draw the cards with headbutt you just put them on top of the draw pile
still looks like a great combo
Snecko + Runic Pyramid, I put the over-under at 3 combats before death.
You really need to be able to cycle cards fast if you want to take advantage of snecko's eye.
Dead stick or branch works with Corruption
New drinking game, each missplay = a shot
I wouldn't if i were u
Do you even look at how much "mana" you used before the end of your turn?
It’s saying something when NL’s first big misplay is 22 minutes in. He’s learning.
Why not use the exhaust to thin your deck instead of getting rid of cards?
I had Runic Pyramid and Snecko Eye once.. when he realize how bad it is he will already be doomed. Next one is gonna be a fun video like he said.
thank you for showing me how to play, managed to beat my first run as the silent by doing exactly the opposite of whatever you do
22:45 is NL okay? He has 2 blocks and 2 energy?
22:55 AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH WHY GOD AAAAAAAAAAHHHH, IT HURTS
@27:42 I'd rather save Double Tap for next turn, so we can use it with a 1 or a 0 energy cost card.
That's not how you use that card. Using a 2 cost card twice in one turn is basically the only thing that card is for until it's upgraded. Somebody make him understand that that's not how to use that card. I'm yelling at my computer but I don't think he can hear me.
Wow this was a great video, and only with one minor energy misplay as we- *picks up snecko eye in low energy clash deck*
why didn't you take thunderclap when your only other vulnerable card to enable dropkick is bash
How are you playing on such an old version, do you have two weeks worth of backlog or something?
mido9 two weeks of back log indeed
I think he’s on Jan 3 rn? Or is this the third ep after the second stream?
alright seeming run but oh noes what is you doing with that snecko eye? I'd rate it ?+
"not sure if we can kill him" has like 70 extra damage available LOL
Top Misplay, taking the Snecko Eye which probably crippled his next floor since he doesn't discard cards and uses clash.
NL, how many times did you outline why a card was a bad idea and then immediately take that card?
