Feedback, feedback, feedback! The biggest thing you can do to help me out is to let me know what you thought of this, and the abridged playthrough. I don't work fast and maybe not always on things people have a keen interest in, but when I do I'd like to be able to improve. The abridged playthrough: ua-cam.com/video/tJ9IPzuUPaA/v-deo.html
I could imagine a game like this working super well if it leaned into survival elements. Like imagine Amnesia The Bunker but in Vietnam against Vietnamese Soldiers.
I prefer knowing what games you would recommend (that's how I bought Disjunction BTW, thanks!) or simply find conceptually interesting, BUT I do think that videos about games you just like for weird reasons should have their place in the channel. And I also found it hilarious to hear about devs pulling an Uwe Boll on Uwe Boll. My only feedback is that sometimes I found your pauses between sentences unwarrantedly long, though it might be my personal preference. On a related note, I can't decide whether having a protagonist that constantly talks to themselves while having frequent mood swings is bad writing or an accidentally good representation of a person in a losing battle against overwhelming stress.
The pauses are definitely something to work on, it's a surprisingly difficult thing to get "right" when so much of the time is spent listening to short snippets at a time. As for recommendations or otherwise interesting games, that's what I would generally like to focus on the rare occasion I make a video. This one kinda escalated beyond what I had planned but it was good practice I suppose. Outside of videos, I've put some thoughts and ratings on games I've played in recent years on my website: www.yame.ninja/?sortBy=rating&sortDesc=true
Good video, I'm going to watch your other ones now. My only feedback is on your pronunciation of the word "unprofitable". In case you didn't know, there is a (short) Far Cry 5 DLC in Vietnam. It focuses more on stealth than the base game but it's pretty easy. The Far Cry games (3 and later) give a lot of options for both stealth and action. If you're uninterested in their campaigns you can download a completed save and activate "outpost master". It's like Hitman in that you can be very creative.
I kind of like bad games. At the very least they showcase how NOT to make a game and sometimes they have wacky mechanics that make people laugh. Not sure if this one has any redeeming qualities though.
These bad low budget games are what I grew up with. I remember another Vietnam game from my childhood called "Marine Heavy Gunner" and I don't know if I should weep because it's so much better than this 2009 game or cringe because of how laughably bad it is compared to its 2004 peers such as Halo, Far Cry and HL2.
i have played many obscure and crappy fps games but this game was not fun at all and i barely got this to work at all i kept dying to the traps on the tunnels eli suomeksi sanottuna paska mikä paska taidat olla suomalainen
Didn't know that Crashday, a game I genuinely enjoyed when it came out, and Velvet Assassin, a game I genuinely tried to enjoy when it came out, are from the same developer. As for this game, while I appreciate 'bad' games this looks to dull outside of the tunnel segments. And even those kinda make me want to play Rising Storm 2 again instead of this game. Fun side note: Out of these 3 games Crashday is likely the easiest to play nowadays. The 'Redline Edition' re-release on Steam mostly works out of the Box (or from the server if you like). And even though your millage may vary it's no comparison the headache of making Velvet Assassin work on modern PCs. Good video though. Well paced, 15 minutes felt like the perfect length and the footage on screen was actually relevant to your commentary. Mostly clicked on it because I remembered your name from multiple GDQ/ESA/etc, Hitman (and PoP3D?) runs and I'm down for more.
Great stuff, I love seeing reviews of old stuff like this. A little bit of feedback, your voice overall sounds a little too much like a dry script read for my tastes. Would to love some fun emotion like a clip of the grenades not working and you saying 'What the fuck is this!' or something along those lines. Show some more of why is game is so bad it's good. A great example of how busted this game is the damage guns do. I don't even know how many chest shots it takes to kill with the AK exactly because it's more than a ENTIRE MAG. Then the m14 kills in 2 shots At 12:40 I think showing a clip of brooke's saying one of his lines about wanting to see his wife again would really help of show the tonal whiplash this game has. Thanks for the vid and please make more brother
Thank you! All valid criticisms, most of which I considered while editing but for one reason or another things didn't materialize quite that way. The dry voice I definitely agree about as it is especially noticable when talking about a game that has more comedic potential, but as a non-native speaker it's very tough to balance showing emotion, enunciating clearly and not needing to do a million takes.
Kun on tottunut speedruneihin, tää on erilaista. Tosin ei huonolla tapaa. Tykkäisin jos videon otsikossa ekana sanana olisi aihe. REVIEW nönnönnöö tai SPEEDRUN adhdkeskittymiskyky.
Ok. So what makes the game stand out other than it just kinda sucks? I liked the first 2 minutes of background, that was interesting, but I'm unclear what made the actual game worth a the rest of the 10 minutes before the conclusion. I like reviewers of obscure games like Mandaloregaming because they are able articulate what makes the game stand out other than "they are so bad they are good". I never got a sense of what made Tunnel Rats worth a 15 minute review.
All that to say: Good start. I look forward to you highlighting other offbeat games. Really loved your stealth review of Pay Day 2. Just think there is room for improvement in answering what makes this game worthy of a video.
Honestly, it's not worth a video in any typical sense. It's just a terrible and unintentionally funny game that has stuck with me personally and that I wanted to talk about. I felt like making some form document on it as I'm absolutely sure no one else will.
I never thought I would hear the phrase "Velvet Assassin was a big step up".
chasing trends I see, everyone is really foaming at the mouth for Tunnel Rats content in 2023

I think you have the wrong abridged playthrough link both here and in the video's description.
Fixed, thanks.
@@TheKottiare you ever going back to hitman
5/5 review Kotti! Please review more obscure, bad and good games. :D

I love the Deus Ex soundtrack in the background. So good. Hong Kong Streets is my favourite I think.

Kotti, you needs to know this: Hitman Blood Money is avaible on mobile!
I wish you will do another hitman speed run trilogy 🥺😔 i miss the series
l love these niche games back in the old days, now sadly it is not often, only through indie games.
Ahhh Deus Ex soundtrack 🥰
some of the lines in this game are funny
Play movie!
You think Julianne would like if we played this game together?
No, but the old man might.

Yeah, there is certainly something wrong.

Speedrunit alkaa olla hölkätty, mutta noita otsikoita joutuu aina miettimään ja saattavat elää kun ovat vaikeita saada järkeviksi.
