|This|is|fricking|beautiful| Fun anectode (but true): I hadn't heard of Andrew before (ignorant me). My daughter's birthday is a few weaks away and whilst researching the Dato Duo as a possible present, I stumbled upon his (and his little nephew's) review. Now, 48 hours later, after embarking on a rewarding journey through the mind-blowing abyss of YT-soundscape-content, I arrived at this here destination. The moment I googled the mastermind behind this and seeing the same face, I just watched reviewing the "child's toy", which started my little odyssey.... Man, those moments were the most awkward and surreal, brain-paralizing Lynchesque motherfreaking PKD-dystopian "your-mailman-was-actually-Tom-Hanks-all-this-time" seconds I experienced in a long, long time. Same....guy....wtf.... And your music strangely delivers the best possible soundtrack for this unique experience :) Anyway, thank you for posting such great content. Regards from Hamburg
I found this by looking up dark ambient drone. Just noticed it was uploaded 8 hours ago. Really cool stuff brother. This sounds like something you would hear on Cold Meat Industries.
I have a question. Does anyone know if the interface they now sell that lays over the touch sensors and using alligator clip connections will allow you to trigger or otherwise control each pad with the new sequencer they make will also be compatible with eurorack signals? This would be a game changer for sure!!!
Late on the response here but I’ll leave it for future readers in case in helps… The overlay for Lyra allows you to connect a gate per sensor. So you need 8 x gates to trigger all sensors. It’s not a traditional 1 gate and 1 CV thing. It’s designed to work with ‘Ornament’ and does so beautifully… If you have those and the P23 your in for a ride, albeit not a traditional sequenced one. And yes, with just the touch sensor overlay, you can send triggers or gates from your Modular’s to control the Lyra.
i wish the lyra 8 was semi-modular. The effects portion is available as a module, but it would be cool to get that functionality while also getting the rest of it
The only thing I am not entirely happy with are the control pads. I bought the magnetic strip that connects to them and I am thinking very hard how I could build an interface that I like better
Amazing performance! Thank you! I was lately exploring also the SOMA Cosmos effect stomp, which is, in some ways, overlaps with the Microcosm. Did you have the chance to explore the Cosmos pedal as well?
That's a great example of Ambient Drone that becomes more progressive over time. This reminded me a lot of that computer game called Half Life! Nice end too!
That is great..i m waiting my Lyra during some time next week and this is the combination i am aiming to..do you use a balanced trs cable out of Lyra to microcosm so you can have a stereo out from the micro?? Thank you! Inspirational indeed!!
Very nice and spacey. Would work well in a planetarium. As a hardware luddite and software geek, I wonder about the differences between hardware-based and DAW-based synth music. While the DAW can probably duplicate many sounds, and reproducability is probably easier, the discoverability of interesting sounds might be greater in a hardware device. As someone who used to work on their own car, there is also the satisfaction and muscle memory of direct physical performance. There's also the physical fact that you can only press so many buttons or turn and push so many knobs and switches at once, which might prevent you from overloading your music with too many changes at once, a less-is-more sort of thing. That is, while you probably could do these things in a DAW, the chances of you actually doing them might be greater in hardware. You seem to live in both worlds, hardware and software. Thoughts?
I think it holds true that limiting yourself pushes creativity. It’s like being a painter staring at a canvas. Well geez the possibilities are near infinite. But if you give someone perhaps a theme, a certain set of colors, and a style then it helps guide the process. It may just be a good discipline in general to give yourself parameters in which to operate and help prevent changing your mind too much. Great insight Chas.
Broo need your facebook asap! Also you are only using the lyra 8 into ghe micronosm then stereo out.... Nothing else? You are torturing into getting both if thats it
I would love more videos like those, but a big part of the enjoyment I get is from the spontaneity of him just having fun, and sharing something he liked with no pressure. So I don’t think he should have a schedule
I saw this in my Local synth shop in bristol and when I touched it it blew a hole in the speaker for some reason. I bought it immediately after that
🤣
🤣🤣🤣
Elevator sound is the best
They're using genelec now... Was that down to you? 😂
👌
The video is static, but I keep feeling like it's zooming in. It's wild.
like a visual Shepard tone
Yeah im feeling this too, Im having to re focus my eyes
it´s the acid
thats the drugs mate
I see it too
This is both the most calming and unsettling music I've ever listened to
ikr
This is the most unsettling music you’ve listened to?! Try Pharmakon.
Yep, had me chilled and on the edge-of-my-seat for the whole video. Mellow yet nerve-wracking :0
0.25 seconds in, and I love it. This is exactly the mental palate cleanser I need right now.
This is a combination I am going to have to try out.
Reminds me of the Quake OST by NIN. I need a 1 hour version of this desperately.
I was gonna say that this reminded me of some of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ film scores
I often use this machine in my work, from heavy drones to bittersweet underlays in ambient tracks, great instrument!
Could be on the HL2 soundtrack.
wow, what a trip to see these 2 enigmatic pieces of gear, being used in tandem........awesome upload
This is so spooky Andrew, I love it! What a haunting combo!
oh man this is exactly my kind of music, thank you andrew :)

liked - but yeah there was probably a trail in the algorithm?
Beautiful. I love the lyre 8 !
I just ordered the black microcosm today to set next to my black lyra-8. What a beautiful combination.

"Tell me Anakin, have you ever heard the tragedy of Darth Pleguis, the Wise ?"
Lmao i wasn't the only one then XD
Oh, stunning!
Happy to discover more of this synth over the next few months. This is very inspiring!
oh my! I ordered Lyra last week...excited to introduce it to my MC
Nice, thx....greetings from Lyra 8 in Thailand 🎼
Wow awesome!
Whish I came back when I had no synth to get only these two beasts!
An absolutely beautiful track Suture !
This is so calming I love it

It kinda is, while it's not volt per octave you certainly have control of pitch via cv and other params.
The first min of this video made me think of Dennis Villeneuve adoption of Drank Herbert's DUNE released this fall of 2021.
That ambience is great
gnarly, love it!
The Lyra-8 is so dope
They're going to have to remake Forbidden Planet just so they can use this as the soundtrack.
Reminds me of Matt Morton’s fantastic soundtrack for the Apollo 11 documentary
The only thing I am not entirely happy with are the control pads. I bought the magnetic strip that connects to them and I am thinking very hard how I could build an interface that I like better
YESYESYES!! Amazing. I love it.
Well, that's it. I'm buying one.
That’s the way to do it
Amazing performance! Thank you!
I was lately exploring also the SOMA Cosmos effect stomp, which is, in some ways, overlaps with the Microcosm. Did you have the chance to explore the Cosmos pedal as well?
Dank as hell brother.
very nice drones.... how do you like the pairing of lyra and microcosm ?
That's a great example of Ambient Drone that becomes more progressive over time. This reminded me a lot of that computer game called Half Life! Nice end too!

In case you're still wondering, the microcosm can take a normal TS instrument cable and output stereo!
So sick.
Good combo
Lovely.
Great combination 👌 is there an arpeggiator on that lyra 8?
Intense!
Second channel synth squad assemble!
Swarms of robotic locusts! Unleash the SWARM!
Who made those nice jack cables? I'd really love to have some of these. Music is outstanding, btw
Those are just your standard Hosa patch cables. You can find them on Amazon for a few dollars, and they are quite good for the price.
@@CockatooDude thanks
@@dedcosmonaut Happy to help!
Eluvium, Cortini ? Cortivium ?
Very nice and spacey. Would work well in a planetarium.

Agree on all points but I would add, hardware does sound different and to me, better.
sick
nice one
*stares at white Lyra8 on desk*
i dont need this pedal i don't need this pedal i don't need this pedal i don't need this pedal
The white pedal is the Microcosm. The Lyra 8 is the black synth.
This sounds like it belongs straight in a resident evil movie
If space did have a sound I imagine it being this
*drifting away into the red hazy horizon*
space mushrooms.... they calling for you ))
spooky😥
Broo need your facebook asap! Also you are only using the lyra 8 into ghe micronosm then stereo out.... Nothing else? You are torturing into getting both if thats it
Cant find the micronosm any similar pedals or recommendations?
Microcosm, or Mutable beads or anything with delay and great reverb
Release the hounds!!!!
cool
Hi Andrew! I think you should upload more consistently. ¡These ideas are fabulous, well developed and uplifting during a common day!🙌
I would love more videos like those, but a big part of the enjoyment I get is from the spontaneity of him just having fun, and sharing something he liked with no pressure. So I don’t think he should have a schedule
ooooo this reminds me a LOT of the music of jon bernstein aka disparition!
ooo and big colin stetson throat vocalisation vibes too
Lyra-8 is my fren.
Two words: F**k yes!
I bet Eve Online would buy this in .3 seconds
Sounds like Blade Runner 2049
Love it and damn…another problem for my wallet…
8 минут маловато

What a frickin pos noise…………………..dire
Actually it sounds perfect and high end . But only the not distorted sounds. The distorted sounds sound trashy .
Why wouldn't you?
