I could make use of this in a stereo setup with a fat chorus and a pingy-pongy delay and still have change left for a frosty beverage. My current Blackstar 2x12 combo has held up well for almost 10 years now.
Apparently Henning isn't noodling that hard anymore and plays more digestable stuff, love it! And it shows, that he is actually pretty sophisticated at what he does! 😘
Had 1x12 combo of these the stock speaker if these are same speaker that to me was mind boggling under powered for lack of better term switch v type and it gave it like whole extra gain stage (was really surprised) also v type speaker doesnt break the bank
Just bought the 1x12 version. It has a "branded" speaker labelled "Blackstar Anthem 100". My reasoning to get one: 1. Moldable, can easily swap out the 1 speaker. The open back can be made closed back for more focused sound. Might help with bottom end for chugging. 2. Can switch to 5watt for bedroom jam 3. Pedal platform for my HX stomp with fx loop, with fx loops and drives in front. But the amp has some tweakablity without the moddeler 4. Its transistor, I moved to a town with no amp techs near, so having a valve amp to get serviced is a daunting thought 5. A good ol' non digital unit. Just plug and play. I have the HX Stomp for if I want 1s and 0s features 6. Its cheap, I would not care much if it got bruised buring modding and usage.
From Blackstar Official Website: Due to cabinet production errors, a larger than intended gap between wooden parts of the cabinet can cause some electronic components to be accessible or partially exposed. As a result, in some circumstances a user could come into contact with safety critical internal chassis components. This poses a risk of serious electric shock. As a result, given the circumstances and our commitment to absolute safety, we have taken the decision to immediately stop the use of these affected products and instigate a product recall for modification.
As always with Blackstar, I don't fully vibe with the overdrive on stock speaker. There almost always is that hint of "box of bees" -thing, not fun to play and a bit unpleasant on the ears. But holy shit that clean channel good. 😮 Just throw in some wibe or chorus and delay, and it'll work as a great Roland Super Chorus type of thing! Though, maybe toss some Mojotones or something and it'll perform very differently, but the clean, as is is absolutely great!
I have the Blackstar Debut 50R..for me the best solid state Amp since the 70's..i had many solid state Amps..Fender..Peavy..Vox...Marshall...Gibson...and any Germany Amps since the 70's..but for me the best is Blackstar.
an HT-20 mkii was one of my first amps ever. terrible sounding OD-Channel but nice clean tone. Now (years later) i am really looking forward to try out the new HT Stage 100h. My next Amp either gonna be the Blackstar or a JVM205h. Lets see which is more versatile.
Lose the reverbs, add tough nylon corners, upgrade the speakers for something good but not pricey (Mojotone anthems?) and I would be interested in this as a rehearsal amp or back up for smaller gigs.

Never have been a big fan of solid state amps especially for gain!!! The cleans are wonderful They always are on SS amps. Not sure why that is but when you add distortion they are one trick ponies at best. This thing seems to be a little better than that and everything on your channel sounds good. Seems like a good idea to leave your expensive amp at home and for rehearsal bring an amp like that I guess it's trying to compare with the katana 100 212. Great video as always we'll see you on the next one Henning😊
@@eoinc_Ire It's wonderful amp, but it's like more than twice as much than this BS Debut 100. Though at least in this demo, it feels like that JC120 is also more than twice as awesome during the clean sections.
if they made maybe 5 amps of high quality id give them a go but they have made so many over the years i just cant keep up .. sorry , love the show henning
Kind of uneventful and possibly a little sterile. The last solid state amp I had sounded like this and then I went back to a pair of tube amps. I even had a Blackstar Club series halfstack that had great body....but no eq on the clean channel. Now it's Helix all the way. Nice styling though.....
I remember Blackstar's Debut 50R somewhat peaking my attention when previously announced. Mostly because I rather like simple "WYSIWYG" analog solid state amps, and their choice of MOSFET transistors for the preamp. Although, they went with Class D power amplification. Why?! I know why. To keep the cost down. Epic fail IMO. I mean the freakin' BOSS Katana 50 has a Class A/B power section w/ a dedicated power amp input. Plus it has practically every effect one would need built in for less or potentially just a smidge more coinage investment depending on what size/spec Katana we're talking about here comparatively. The Debut's drive sound is quite impressive I must admit, but a Zvex Box of Rock or even a DOD Gunslinger MOSFET distortion pedal can accomplish that for way less. Ok. I know Henning. My appologies. I am clearly ranting because... Why Class D Blackstar?!! Dear god why?! LMAO!🙃😜🤣 If they had went with a Class A/B power amp that was half as good as the one in the Katana? At the sake of raising the price point? I would of been all in! They could of had a potential winner winner chicken dinner sleeper of an amp IMO. Although that's just my personal opinion, and this comment is already waaaay too long for me to explain the technical nuances that exist between Class A/B & Class D amplification. Besides... Colin over @ Science of Loud has already explained it far better than I ever could. P.S. Oscar told me to tell you "Bork😘" Henning 🙃😉😊
Were they tube amps? My ht20 crapped out, and it turns out the cheapo PCB traces were coming off the board. If I knew the solid state ones were a little more reliable, I might actually get one.

I replaced my Katana 50 with the de-butt 50 because I wanted a basic platform without software. Happy with it and so are my neighbors.

I guess a WGS creamback speaker will be a good investment. I doubt I would spend that money when the amp is only used at home. For gigs yes!
