This weeks spinners have been Robin Trower - Twice Removed From Yesterday (Reissue), Illusion - Out Of The Mist, Fairport Convention - Unhalfbricking and Joni Mitchell - Hissing of Summer Lawns (Her finest album) Keep it coming Phil.
I’ve been given a vinyl album turntable with a digital conversion cable and software so I’m busy creating a library of music I can actually copy on to my iPhone. This week I have been mostly revisiting The Ramones ( first 4 albums, up to “ Road To Ruin”). They were awesome from 1976 to 1978 but lost their way afterwards tbh. If I had to suggest a single track to listen to I would say “ Gone Mental”. Or “ Tonight”( not many songs mention chicken vindaloo). Next up will be my Rainbow 🌈 albums up to “ Difficult To Cure”.
Now spinning, as it were, at my gaff - “Non Stop Erotic Cabaret super deluxe” Soft Cell, “Vagabonds of the Western World 50th Anniversary box set” Thin Lizzy, “Headstone 2 CD set” Headstone, “Remember The Future 4 CD set” Nektar, “Toybox the stiff years” Lene Lovich, “The Journey Pt 2” The Kinks.
Great stack of sounds there Phil. Another thing regarding “Tormato” seems to be that people who don’t like the album very much, really hate the cover! I think it’s a wonderful design. Cheap Trick another band that obviously I’ve heard of but never checked them out. I’m making a lot of lists these days.
If it's any consolation, "Fragile" and "The Yes Album" were two of the first albums that I ever bought and they will always be my favourites - but there's still a place for "Tormato" in my collection. It's okay for being released at a time when prog rock was going through a lull anyway - and I think the band knew that was the case and changed the sound to suit. It's an album that needs to be considered with a context.

So far this week I started spinning on a dreary mellow Sunday morning was Nicolette Larson debut album (lotta love) then I moved onto Joan Baez greatest hits, then it was time to jazz up the day with a Friday Night in San Francisco with Al Dimeola, McLaughlin, DeLucia / Spun my Japanese pressing of Billy Joel the Nylon Curtain, then my MoFi Love Over Gold (Dire Straits) yesterday & so far today I had my CD of Joe Bonamassa live at Sydney Opera house. Now I am also going to dig out my copy of John Coltrane Blue Trane, I have the newest version Tone Poet from Blue Note. This is my favorite Coltrane album. Great video Phil.

Great stuff Phil! I saw Cheap Trick on that tour and it was fantastic, such a great one from them (one of many); it's sad to think that all 3 of the original Motorhead are gone. I never saw that lineup together but did see the Another Perfect Day tour and saw Fastway twice. I just played Wings Over America (RIP Denny Laine), and the first Crabby Appleton album. Quite a diverse and great playlist, Phil! I could comment on all of them, but I'll keep myself to just one, which is Cheap Trick. I have always absolutely loved All Shook Up, and never understood why many CT fans give it short shrift. I think teaming with George Martin was a match made in Heaven and wish they would have continued working with him going forward. The LP has such a warm and full sound and, as you mentioned, helps to give the songs an extra level of feeling/heart/etc. I've been lucky enough to hear them do Stop This Game live a few times, but my absolute favorite track has always been another that you mentioned: "Can't Stop It But I'm Gonna Try." An incredible song that gets little to no attention, but surely one of their best. Thanks for another great video, and especially for highlighting this under-appreciated gem. Cheers!
Yes, Robin Zander still is amazing. Saw them twice in the 80s Phil, how you heard of "Bang" (early 70s) and "Pavlov's Dog"? and, I can't seem to get away from Nightwish Wacken Live video reactions on you tube. cheers
