My wonderful mother, Elizabeth, took me in the Rambler to Will Roger's World Airport in Oklahoma City to see this wonderful man, Danny Kaye, on his whistle stop scheduled self piloted fly in speech to us on the value of our support for UNICEF. A very meaningful day in which a movie star became a real person for this young man, and formative of a young sense of what human rights means. Thanks Mom and Danny Kaye, and, thanks "Danny Kaye" for making this video document available here.
3:41, On contribution to UNICEF: "If anyone feels keenly about UNICEF I don't suppose it would deh, they would send any money back that anyone wanted to send to them." That's him! Good humor is a great heart opener.
I remember UNICEF...I remember collecting boxes of money for these children.....while we ourselves were starving at home in Vermont....my mom was a single mother ...three were four of us.....but I'm glad I supported the cause as we all were starving back in the 70s.....and I was also a Mittionette at church and we raised money for children and families in Haiti and ethiopia..GOD BLESS you Danny as it was a great organization at one time..
