For real
Levy IS the bomb. It is rumored that those who see a mushroom cloud resulting from a detonated bombenheimer can see Levy Rohzman and Tony Khan staring back down at them.

“Oppenheimer was a destroyer of worlds but certainly not a destroyer of the chessboard!”
you can tell he was so proud of that joke
He destroyed Japan chessboard, Hence Shogi was born
Oppy was a weak player.
Einstein knew how to punish weak moves.
Well instead he was also a destroyer of women😉
You can tell gotham is expecting this video to pop off and leave his usual audience cause oppenheimer is the subject, hes going over all the basics for new viewers which is nice to see
Yup, but he’s prolly right- good for Gotham to try to grow people who like chess
Neat little observation
@@yocarter9221this gotta be sarcasm😂

It’s interesting how Einstein’s chess strategy is similar to his personality: patient, efficient, and experienced
Edit: It’s wild everyone keeps replying the same thing as if they just came up with the worlds best roast, it’s just really funny.
Einstein personality wise was much closer to Mikhail Tal than someone like Kasparov.
Lol you knew him personally?
Little cringe
Oh no, Levy got kidnapped again
Oppenheimer is the opposite, his strategy is pretty explosive
As an Oppenheimer, I can confirm this gave me the motivation to become destroyer of the worlds

Hi Gotham, at 1:21 you state that "There are more chess positions possible [...] than there are atoms in the universe" which is unfortunately incorrect. There are more chess games possible than atoms in the universe, but the number of possible legal chess positions is closer to the number of atoms on earth (specifically the current lowest upper bound is about 10^48)
Is that assuming that pawns must become queens or that pawns can become knights, rooks, and bishops as well?
@@Mathignihilcehk it's an upper bound, pawns can promote to anything
Hyperbole is a thing.

“Einstein was a Gotham chess subscriber” so proud of you Levy
I was surprised how well Einstein played, granted he’s a genius, but he was playing really really well
Having had to study the mathematical notation he invented, I can't say I'm particularly surprised. I wouldn't be surprised at any of his moves, though I would also assume that Einstein studied chess for longer, and probably did play.
You know who would kick all of their ass at chess out of the physicists of that day? John von Neumann. If von Neumann had studied chess instead of mathematics, he'd probably be the greatest of all time by a wide margin.
Einstein was European, and Chess was very popular in Europe. Most cafe dwellers played at a club level. Einstein wasn't that great in chess, he deliberately avoided learning it, because he said it was addictive, and a waste of brain-space.
@@hellomate639I'm taking a GR course right now and did a fair amount of Einstein notation in previous math methods classes. Einstein notation is my arch nemesis

It was really awesome for Oppenheimer and Einstein to not only play a game of chess for us, but also to record the moves and publish them. Stand up guys!

Don't be silly! Chess websites record the games automatically.
It was in 1933 and the moves were recorded, einstein was actually an avid chess player

@@myhatmygandhi6217 There are no logical grounds for saying it didn't happen. It's perfectly possible. It would be interesting to know who found and published it.
little pedantic note, the commonly quoted statistic is that there are more possible chess games than atoms in the universe (Shannon). Levy said "chess positions"
Oppenheimer not playing the icbm attack is just a shame
The little symbols on every move and the correction makes this very fun to watch especially for beginners 😀

"I am dead, and destroyed my world"

You make every game not only a chess lesson but at least 10 times more interesting and entertaining as well. So, thank you! 🙏💖
He's back boys. The old school content that made me fall in love with this channel is full on display here and it makes me very happy.
i was literally thinking about this game yesterday, its so great to see you make a video on it
This is one of your best videos. Great Teaching. And speaking to possibly New Viewers. Great job
They should’ve played atomic chess
What a peculiar chess match
Almost looks like it didn't happen. Somebody invented a game that had the post pins & hooks imaginable. Weird that we only hear about it now
🙄
Great topic chosen! More of this!
Really fun showing, thankyou Gotham
I believe they played a game, but I don’t think they would’ve written down their moves for a friendly game.
I thought the number of chess 'games' is bigger than number of atoms in the universe not the chess 'positions'
Opeheimer after losing to Einstein Einstein why is it so bright outside famous last words

Oppenheimer’s rage at this game was unfathomable
We need Frank to do a whole episode analysing a chess match imitating Levi.
Make it happen lol

Oppenheimer probably tries to play the intercontinental missile opening with white
Bro that opening was a whole ass library 😅
Todays stare was extremely short yet this could be because he’s trying to signal he’s kidnapped LORE IMPLICATIONS make this a 8/10 stare
EXACTLY! At the very least, the kidnapper let Gotham record videos.
Unfortunately the kidnapper is immune to Levy's stare, Levy might need Oppenheimer's assistance to get out of this...

The K in Knight used to be pronounced in old English during the Anglo Saxon period of English history. Around roughly 700 AD or something.
It hung around well after the Norman invasion and into early or mid modern English, in fact. Closer to the 17th century (which is why it survived to make its way into English standardization that persists today). Kuh'night, Kuh'nife-wacky language, this is.
German: Knecht... (different meaning: servant, dependent worker, here: vasall of a higher aristocrat or member of nobility)
Enjoyed it, Levy. Thanks!
Einstein's move: E to MC square
Oppenheimer: I resign
Oppenheimer checkmated more than 10000 people at the same time, is he then better than Magnus?
More like 100,000
That's not funny. Like, really not funny.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@ethanhenderson3942 Don't cry
No. Checkmating 10 000 opponents is not as significant if the quality of play of the opponents is significantly lower. Magnus Carlsen has the record he has against people who, on their own right, are far better than almost any player of the 20th century, with few exceptions. This is what makes Carlsen such a great player.
Would you be interested in doing a vid on the games of Marcel Duchamp?
He's most notably the conceptual artist who made Fountain, the readymade sculpture that's just a urinal on a plinth.
But he was also an accomplished amateur chess player. He was a French delegate to FIDE, he wrote a book on endgame theory, and he played the US Champion Frank Marshall to a draw in 1930.
The "Idiotic Attack" voice was hilarious! I will decide to believe this game happened, better than not. I am starting to understand chess much better since subscribing to your channel.
17:21 A horse detonates a bomb on Oppenheimer 🤣🤣🤣
Levy: We use N for Knight, even though the K is silent because the King is K
Levy (the very next sentence): For some unknown reason we use N for knight.
To make the game more appealing to youngsters, they should start calling it a horse and notate it with an H. Rooks should probably be called Towers as well.
Ok but when's the Barbie vs Bratz match?
I like the podcast sound of your voice, hope you keep the setup for the regular videos from home.
"That is a bomb being detonated on Oppenheimers position." BROOOO
Keep up the good work 🎉🎉

Great video again Gotham, amazing quality as always
the video was uploaded 2 minutes ago you didn’t even watch it
I find it a bit odd that I can't find records of Opponheimer intensely studying and playing Chess, which is strange since he played a considerable amount of book moves and decent moves in the game.
The man learned dutch in a week, he probably read a book on it in like an hour or two
This game is real, I founded a portuguese video over the same game with the same moves that was recorded 3 years ago, before oppenheimer was the hot topic.
This was a legit game
@@Thiago.Acquati That doesn't necessarily mean it actually happened. All it means is that Levy didn't invent the game (which I already knew) and that if it is fake, then the lie - though it may well be real and not a lie - was created long ago. I mean, throughout history you see tons of people invent ridiculous lies. Just look at the Great Moon Hoax of 1835 as a perfect example.
It's most likely not legit. The moves were listed in a book in the 1950s, but even the author of that said he had no proof the game actually had these exact moves. Later books and videos copied from the first publication, but neglected to mention the original author's doubts. As time moves on, lies, hearsay, mistranslations, and mistakes become "accepted truths", and whatever really happened gets lost. See also: The Bible, or any history book that describes something that happened two hundred years ago. It's basically all made up.
"Or uhhh.... I don't know. Other stuff" - Levy, and international chess master
Thank u for the „ Chessmatch“ in the title, I thought you would recover their streetfight

Don't worry guys. The kidnapper is now his friend! The kidnapper didn't know Levy that well but after watching a few videos of chess he realised that Levy is a great dude.

The kidnapper is frank
quick fact ceck :
How many chess positions are possible?
It is estimated there are between 10^111 and 10^123 positions (including illegal moves) in Chess. (If you rule out illegal moves that number drops dramatically to 10^40 moves.
it is estimated that there may be 10^78 to 10^82 atoms in the known universe.
so unless you count illegal moves, the universe is still winning. doesnt change what you're trying to say though, theres a crazy amount of possible chess positions
Making these celebrity game into guess the elo videos would be legendary
