Nicely done. 1. Tractari is roadside assistance. 2. Next time let the community know you are visiting. You will meet some wonderful people, find more awesome routes, as well as nice places to eat and where to stay. Visit again soon. ✌️
Thanks Niko! It's always the same I'm afraid. Trips tend to be very short notice with me and my work schedule, so there's never time to announce the plan! Maybe next time!
Be sure to revisit , there are at least 15 more roads that are as spectacular as these two, but with a lot less traffic. Transalpina and Transfagarasan are some of the oldest, so most known and near to major cities, thus the traffic. Just seen your Transfagarasan video, nice attitude not feeding the bear. There are so many attacks each year, because they are too accustomed to coming down from the mountains to be fed by tourists.
Another superb video and a great bonus for the two of you was a pint of Ursus to reminisce with. Nice beer. The Romanian wilderness has to be seen to really appreciate just how vast it is. Safe journeys home to the two of you.
Another great ride through stunning scenery Andy. Maybe a bit of brushing up on the off road technique, watching Chris Northover on Bike World I think you're supposed to go as fast as you can with at least one (and preferably two) wheels off the ground where possible and grinning like a teenager....😂
Although I'm romanian, this year I rode for the first time the south part of Transalpina, so now I can say is much nicer than Transfagarasean with all my heart. Anyway I/m not a street guy ,I love going off road. From Transalpina you have 2 possibilities to go off road. Strategica being the harder one but is just beautiful ,36 km of beauty . Transalpina was the same way 15 years ago, unpaved paradise . Too bad I didnt get to ride it before they put tarmac. Anyway nice riding(fast, flow ) loved it. Loved when you said you have your home in the pannier .I feel the same when i go out with me tent.(90% of the time)
I really wish I could have taken in a bit more of the off road side of it all. Maybe next time! I bet the Transalpina unpaved was a ttreat as well! Shame we both missed it! Thanks for watching mate!
Great road for scrubbing the side walls off your tyres, Andy. Fantastic scenery and quality roads. You say In Germany it would take a year to re-surface such a road. In the UK they wouldn't bother. Much more fun trying to avoid the potholes, trenches, sunken metal manhole covers, etc.
Absolutely Jim! No fresh rubber left on the edges after that! I can’t imagine riding in the UK on anything other than an off road capable bike any more!!
DLzG
Great stuff again Andy - I found myself dipping ,my shoulders and head into every bend as you flowed along, corner to corner!! Bloody Lovely! Higher speeds overall? Great to see Ian and Andy having a review after the two runs. Graeme
Haha! Glad to hear it G. Yeah the speeds were definitely a little higher than a trip to say, Switzerland where the national speed limit is 80 Km/h. Although we made the decision to stick to the speed limits on the straights. Anybody can go fast in a straight line and we didn't want to catch the traffic too fast. But the national speed limit in Romania is 90 km/h, so actually 10 slower than in Germany. That said, many of the good roads in Germany now have 70 limits on the bendy bits. Sometimes only for motorcycles. 😏
My personal favourite of the two. A bit more variety and a nicer run in and out. Strange balsa wood 'new world' encampment at the top in which Roma music was being blasted out - slightly surreal!! I see you arrived there via the 'Tradesmen's entrance' at 20:45. Thanks for posting!!
My pleasure mate! I can certainly see why you’d prefer it. Both tick so many boxes but there’s always something that edges each out over the other for everyone! The tradesmans was a very enjoyable segway. I think next time i might go the back way, the whole way! 🤣
Between the sound of the engine and that quick shifter I’ve become a bit envious of that taureg. And OMG varicose veins orgy of bends??? I watched this at work and actually snorted! Thanks so much!!!
It's an impressive piece of engineering! I think it'll gradually come to be the king of the midweights, once everybody sees past the Aprilia stigma! Sorry about the public snorting (sorry, not sorry)
Damn missed these videos and was really looking forward to some Tuareg action! How would you rate it as a road bike? Is it worth if you are going to do only road riding and Do you miss the 17" front tire? Cheers
I absolutely love it mate. Both on the road and off. I honestly don’t give a second thought about the front wheel being a 21“ rather than a 17“. With the OEM half-knobbly tyres it handles like a dream. I’m sure that with a set of 100% road it would be razor sharp. Ultimately, if i were told that i could never ride off road again, I’d still keep this bike.
Rode both Transfagarasan, and Transalpina. Both are great in different ways. Transfagarasan is sharp hairpins. Transalpina endless long swerving roads. Both very well kept roads.
Hey Andy how are you satisfied with the touareg im currently considering new midsized adventure bike and it comes down to Touareg or Transalp from honda, since im really only planning gravel roads as far as offroad goes my guess would be 80/20 road/offroad use.. Any issues with the tuareg ? Can you do me little review of that bike ? Thanks.
Absolutely bloody love it mate. It’s been flawless on everything from billiard table smooth tarmac to boulders and sand. Handles like a razor on the road. Suspension is great in the dirt. No reliability issues. Incredible fuel economy and therefore tank range. Great comfort. Sounds tremendous. Feels like more than 80bhp. Cruise control is a bonus. Could be the best bike I’ve ever owned. I’d take one over a Honda every single day until the cows come home.
@@AndyManCam Im afraid of Aprilia with their questionable electronics reliability since im forced to have my bike outside under the cover. Thats pretty much the only thing is the question mark around the touareg in reliability how many kilometers have you done on it ?
@@AndyManCamHonda is still tubed tires, no cruise control, air filter difficult to access, engine is a road bike engine. The Tuareg is superior in every aspect, greater ground clearance, lower centre of gravity, more suspension travel, tubeless tires, cruise control, better value for money.
well done Andy that was a lot steeper than the camera showed and it got very lose towards the top dont think i would do that on my GS with my skill level
Cheers Steve. You’re not wrong there mate! As it continued to get steeper and steeper, I was literally thinking I’d bitten off more than i could chew! I probably panicked myself into that little drop! It was good practice for the italy trip that came right after it though.
Any brits that have done this trip from the UK, any advice on a generic best route to take to avoid a million hours of motorway getting there and back? Across Germany and Austria? Thinking of doing a 10 day trip
Ian can speak english? That is awesome! Why did he choose to speak in soundeffect while riding? 😉 On a serious note: How are you two satisfied with the intercoms? Especially at speeds over 80km/h.
English is his second language! 🤣 Though the real problem was that the microphone for his camera was busted from the start 🙈 . We were mostly pretty happy with the intercoms all the way up to 130 kmh. The only issue was when Ian’s got wet (and a month or so later actually died completely).
Spot on with your Trans analysis. My personal preference is Ttransfagarasan for the twisty bits and the Alpina when i want to ride fast ...but nobody asked so I'm just like ladies undies , in between the cheeks...
Thanks for the Amazing touring video of Romania. Amazing roads and naturally beautiful country. What I learned is you ride dangerously. Overshooting a lot corners, curves. You can Not keep up with Ducatis on the Twisties with knobbys. Where can we watch your friends videos? I would like to compare riding styles. And learn from other people's Mistakes. Europeans have access to unlimited touring Adventures. Within hours of riding. Very lucky. No I DO Not want to give you my money. So you can have motorcycle adventures. Why not ask the manufacturers of the gear you promote for extra cash? Christopher
I wonder if you truly realise just how insulting your comment is?! Starting with a compliment doesn’t make the rest OK, just so‘s ya know! There are about 4 different levels of affront here and I really ought to ignore. But I’ll answer anyway. I do NOT ride dangerously and i most certainly am not overshooting curves. What i am doing is maximising my visibility through the curves by apexing as late as possible sometimes by purposely running out wide and into the other side of the road as this further increases my view around the corner. It’s called using the road. By doing so, I can much sooner see where the road is going and when there is oncoming traffic. My friend doesn’t make his own videos, but if he did it would be frustrating for you as he rides in the same way. Strangely enough, Techniques that he learned through Police driver training and IAMS advanced rider training. So you actually could learn something, but not from mistakes. In the twisties, the Ducatis couldn’t keep up with ME. You can tell this, because they’re behind and you can’t see them. They actually overtook on a straight because a) they had WAY more power than me and b) they clearly didn’t care about the speed limits. My thoughts are always that anyone can go fast in a straight line, so I don’t do it. You don’t have to give me money. Nobody does. But many kind souls do. However they don’t do it just so that I can have adventures on somebody else’s dime. They do it because they appreciate the time, cost and effort that go into creating the ENTERTAINMENT that results from the adventure. Not to mention the information about locations, equipment, bikes, routes etc… that is also there to be gained from the videos. You obviously found the video entertaining, otherwise you wouldn’t have lead in with your compliment. Of course there’s no obligation for you to contribute, but there’s also no need to announce that you don’t want to, while stealthily accusing me of being a freeloader. Ask brands for money? Now why didn’t I think of that?! Sadly it turns out that receiving cash from brands, almost always comes with an element of soul-selling and control relinquishment. If I take money from luggage brand A, then I‘m no longer allowed to even mention luggage brands B. This would create a very questionable level of credibility whenever I‘m talking about luggage. So to maintain my freedom of choice and control of content, I only work with brands who are happy to be shown alongside their competition. Unfortunately this rather limits options as many don’t feel this way. Ultimately, I thank you for your comment, but I implore you to be less arrogant and insulting in future comments. The world would be a much better place if we weren’t all constantly tied up in rudely telling each other what we’re doing wrong. There is motive behind everybody’s every action. Try to see and understand that before throwing stones.
Nicely done.

Fabulous road and area 👍

Here for you brother! 🙌🏻
Drove both of them 8 years ago on my Suzuki SV1000S. Not the best bike for those roads but I enjoyed it anyway. Liked Transalpina more.
I can imagine that was a little jarring! Almost definitely still incredibly enjoyable though!! Not surprised you preferred the Transalpina though!
And like a London bus, two lovely videos arrive together
And just like a London bus, they're late but full of hope and promise!
Great stuff! Raised the volume when the Transformers like epic music started!
Awesome! Love to hear it! Cheers Pete!
Very good videos Andy, both of them.
Thanks mate. What did you make of the third one?
@AndyManCam sorry I liked the 3.too, very good, keep up the good work Andy.
Awesome, thanks mate!!
Fantastic stuff.
Thanks again! 👍🏻🙏🏻

And the air filter is literally above the fuel tank. Takes 5 minutes to get at it!
Been through Romania a couple of times and never done either.
Maybe next time! But then i bet the rest of the roads are good enough that you probably didn’t worry about it too much!
@AndyManCam very true. I want to do some special next year

Yep ... with so much travel, it's difficult to take the curves aggressively .. 🙂
But we gave it our best shot!
De Oude Wilg, that is dutch for The Old Willow (or Ye Olde Willow for a bit of artisan feel) - Dutch owners maybe?
I certainly got that feeling!
Ooh video upload marathon day! (2nd video goodness)
I’ve been a busy little bee! Enjoy!!
@ no worries our Andy thought Xmas came early. 😀
You’ll think it even more when episode 3 drops in a minute 🤭
@ just as I started typing this message…
good vid, missed the AMC videoage
Thanks Svend! Hopefully I can continue the trend of releasing the vids in the same year as the trips happened!!
What a trip...
Absolutely! Definitely the furthest I’ve ridden from home!

No problem at all mate. It was the first 2 weeks in July.
how did the italian mini multistrada handle the hight and curves ?
It absolutely lapped it all up mate! I love this bike a bit more after every trip i take it on!
Tractari means "tow" as in towing company. There are probably a lot of accidents and defects on that route since people need a lot of towing it seems.
Yeah, we figured that out. Sounded a bit too much like ‚tractor‘ not to be about towing 👍🏻
... meanwhile Ian waits patiently with a brew and and a sandwich 😁
That was definitely his preferred choice of activity at that moment! 😅
ok, you just dropped it as i was typing !!
It was the pressure of being watched! 😜
drove it in 2019 been promising myself to return on 2 wheels 😁
It’s well worth the trip back there! Everything is better on two wheels! Except snow. Snow is definitely better on NO wheels!
@AndyManCam can't argue with that
🙌🏻
Tractări means towing service 😊
Yeah we surmised as much. 👍🏻
Well i bet you pigged out on that road 'ohhh'ef 'wot a terrible pun......😂👍
Ho ho ho! Nice one centurion.
Why did the piglet cross the road? It was stuck in a chicken
Poor chicken.
I think it is.
You’re definitely not alone there mate. I think many would find it the better road.
Tractări mean RECOVERY. Because most of the drivers are not able to use low gear, so they have to use the brakes until they end.
Doesn‘t surprise me! You could smell it in the air!
I am Tractari, true defender of Gotham..😂🧛♂️
🤣😂🤠
11:10 if you have to call tractari i promise you you're not having a good time :)))
