    Really appreciate how straight forward this video is. No flashy intros or filter chatter, just straight into it. Thanks!

    Best video ever. I hate when I type in something very simple and the video is 20 minutes long. They start by telling you the history of the straight leg dead lift. How it became famous. All the diets to do for a straight leg dead lift. Just show me what I want to see like this video does.

    This is by far the best form I have found on the web. Thank you for doing it correctly!! :-D

    That explanation of pushing the hips forward really helped me. I wasnt doing that correctly which explains why i felt my form wasnt correct. Brilliant video!

      I get what your talking about. This lady is strong too. But lots of videos the men look like and I'm thinking longterm back injuries

    i personally believe this is the safest deadlift there is, reasons are because with the normal deadlift you bend the knees a lot more and this can lead to a rounded back. With the stiff legged version your merely focusing all the attention on keeping the back straight and as you lower the bar the knees automatically will bend slightly.

    LOL this video reminds me of my female P.E. teachers back at school. A bit dominant /masculine, always walking around in a track suit but never actually doing any excercises. Ahh memories...

    also any deadlift is a back excercise just because this is stiff legged it still targets lower back and hams

    I tried this tonight after doing back and front squats for a while now and i just couldnt get the form down right. I got to practice and feel more comfortable with it.

    when i do normal deadlifts, it feels weird to kinda squat down at the bottom, i do like a hybrid in between straight and normal deadlifts and I feel it hits my lower back the best, always perfect form though

    if you have back problems this can actually help fix them... granted, if you're not that strong i wouldn't try lifting 300 lbs... obviously you would get hurt...

    isn't the straight leg DL just another name for the ROmanian DL and the stiff leg DL? they are meant to work the hams and glutes even though i always tend to feel it on my lower back just as well. i also get a way better stretch in my hams when i keep my knees locked totally straight, is that good?

  • @sinfuldavy0

    kraftsportNO I used to do this exercise like how it is demonstrated here, but I am training under a coach these days and even though some of his methods are a little unorthodox, I just follow as he says and that's why my SLDL looks kind of awkward the way you saw me doing, but that is what he has suggested me...you may have noticed that the coach is a little unorthodox in some manners, once he starts training someone he also believes that the trainee should do as told and not ask questions, I know this kind of training philosophy is not liked by too many people but I tend to have a lot of trust and belief in what he instructs me to do...

    • @kraftsportNO
      @kraftsportNO 9 років тому

      With all due respect, this coach is someone I would shy away from. His philosophy seems more like that of a religious leader, and for you follow it blindly is not even better, not even a thank you for me taking the time to actually help you free of charge. You are outright dismissing the advice of an educated engineer that has more than a decade with lifting experience, and that tells you the truth in regards to exact and common science that's easy to get by if you cared to spend some time to investigate. The truth is that you are acting foolish and leaning on laziness. How do you expect seasoned lifters to spend time helping you when you're just another of those "know it all" youths that does not listen to experienced lifters. Your response was totally retarded and the lack of respect for seniority and experience is telling and will not motivate me to help you in the future.
      Take care.

    • @madmadaan03
      @madmadaan03 9 років тому

      kraftsportNO Not saying a 'thankyou' on an Internet Forum where responses can easily be misleading in terms of actual gestures made you so angry? Not even realizing that one could have just forgot to mention a little 'thankyou' on one particular occasion out of numerous other occasions when the person never forgot to give you credit for your tips and online guidance? and then you call someone else as the religious leader or something, you basically judged everything about me, my coach, the environment I train at based on an Internet forum and not only that you supplied your verdict too based on your judgement which may well be and infact truly is false!...I not only that you call retarded to someone who not only credited you personally for your tips time to time but also in front of other youtubers praising you without you even knowing...
      THose who know me personally and online know how humble I am and you supplied your verdict based on one oaccasion when you probably did not hear what you wanted to hear?
      I just said, that I also do it the way it is demonstrated in this video but coach also asks me to do it the way you saw me doing time to time, infact we do have something called round back SLDLs...so I do not see what pissed you off so much!...
      anyways I initially did not even want to respond back to you on your comment, but I don't know why I did!...there was an occasion an year or so back when you got frustrated on me on my opinion on BitCoin but then I did not say anything back then too...not because I am a 'know it all' youth but because I respect others and I also understand that Internet is not the best medium for arguments...
      So my coach is not a religious leader that is a fact, but you are a very egoistic personality that can be easily seen here...

    Never keep your knees straight througout a heavy lift, you could end up popping them in the wrong direction.

    I was under the impression a straight leg deadlift keeps a straight leg throughout the lift, hence the name, and not with a slight bend of the knee as shown in the video.

    • @nyckid1958

      Chris Harrison ...You're correct, that's a Romanian deadlift.

  • @sarcol

    Yeah I bet this is harder than regular deadlifts. Letting legs firm must be more painful.

  • @Savatage
    @Savatage 15 років тому

    Romanians you don't keep the bar as close to your legs. You graze your legs w/ a straightleg.

    This is a horrific exercise and should be avoided at all cost. These shear the ligaments at the sacroiliac joints, which lead to excessive motion in the joint and premature joint wear and tear. Straight legged deadlifts also cause a crushing shearing action on the lower spinal disks.

    • @buckwheat7811
      @buckwheat7811 10 років тому

    Nooooo, this is a ROMANIAN DEADLIFT. Not a Straight Leg Deadlift. RDL starts at the top while SLDL starts from the floor. You need to retitle this to Barbell RDL
