    Nice car Addam sometimes it has to be something completely different. This car's a beast on your track. I like to see the dirt flying.

      Yeah, I enjoy something out the norm from time to time as doing the same style buggies and trucks does get bland after a while. This one is definitely a fun one to drive and 2s would be better suited for my track. I just needed to drain the 3s since my speed run ended tragically before I even thought about sticking it in there! 3s is more suited for Al's big track and for bashing around the yard. It was an animal on the track but made for some great dust clouds in the corners!

    These trucks are AWESOME!
    For tire glue I have always preferred a medium CA , the thin just easily makes messes and gets where you don't want it yet, and like you mentioned, zero working time before it kicks off...
    Your body came out awesome looking!
    I would recommend after a half dozen or so runs, to open and clean out all 3 diffs and refill them... we noticed when we did so after 3 packs that the diffs had broken in nicely and the oil was reflecting that break in of the diff gears... now after a few more track days and race events we still have nice smooth diff action and I have no reason to belive they won't perform well for a long time, which is good as they aren't the easiest access ...
    This truck has proven to be a real winner though, lots of fun. It's a great little truggy and I hope it might just help strengthen and grow that racing class some, because it can legitimately hang with the Tekno and Xray truggies on the track. From some of the videos I've seen in YT it should also be a great all-around fun truck for anyone, even off the race track.
    Hope to see more follow up videos of this truck.
    Cheers

      I was very impressed with it and I have heard a lot of good things about them.
      The thin CA was a bit too thin for the job/my skills at the time LOL! Thankfully I did not get glued to anything! The medium is so much more forgiving, I can wait a little bit for a full cure instead of messing up tires!
      The body turned out well and the looks of it are growing on me more and more! I think it helps the paint job worked out well! I will try and get a bit bolder when I go to do the other body, I am thinking drips on that one. I am a sucker for the classic drippy paint!
      Thanks for the tip on the diffs. I am sure the fluid get a bet full of the metal from wearing in. I look forward to getting it over and running with Al. Sadly we are soaking wet and no relief in site for the next 4 or 5 days so it will be a bit before I get over there. There will definitely be more running videos of the truck! Take care and have a great rest of your week!

    Not guna lie Addam ,I'm more of a vintage guy......but this does look like a nice bit of kit!
    Not really feeling cab forward but your awesome paint job really made it look handsome, for want of a better word!
    That was a lovely shade of blue,which worked really well fading into the black!
    I can relate to the whole superglue /tyre predicament .....been there,got the T shirt!😂
    It really did look like it performed well on the track,and looked heaps of fun on the open grass to.
    Thanks for sharing matey.😊

      I have always wanted something race oriented. While this one is about 50/50 race or bash it was close enough and half the price of most race oriented kits! I drove great and is a little animal on 3s. I think on 2s it will be a little more tame for my small track and I can get it around the track a little smoother. Out in the grass it proved to be a fun all round ripper and boy is is quick. Just another one I have on hand I can drive in anger and not have to worry about it, it seems overbuilt and can handle the rough stuff just fine. The body is growing on me more and more. I think the paint job turning out good helps but it is not as ugly and aggressive as many of the modern racers and has enough o f the classic stadium truck look to it I am starting to like it. The tire gluing mess I have not done in quite a while but man that rubber stuck down the second it hit the glue, sadly in the wrong spot! I got a whole new set of wheels and tires (pre-glued) for $32 from Hobao so very affordable. It will be back on here in the future, once I can get over to Al's place for some track running! Take care James and have a great week!

    Wasn't HoBao somehow partnered with OFNA? I'm going way back in my RC memory on this one.... I got back into RC after finishing College, way back in like, 2004. I bought an OFNA 1/8 Nitro Buggy (bad idea) and I remember them being aligned with HoBao somehow? Anyway... Cool truggy, Addam. The body is a little wacky, but your paint job really made it stand out and look great!

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  8 днів тому +1

      Yeah, them and Ofna are related companies. I still have my Ofna Ravager buggy, I never run it as I am over the mess of nitro but I cannot sperate with it, it is a tank of a buggy! The body is growing on me with this one. It is not the weird squared off cab forward design I see out there racing, it has just enough old school stadium truck vibes to it I am starting to like it. It does help the paint job worked out well for me to like it a bit more too! I am going to try a bit more adventurous on the backup body I got wit the next paint job!

      Thanks Mark! I knew of them more from the years they were big into on-road 4wd touring cars. I have seen several other of the bigger basher kits but once I saw this 1/10 truggy I was kind of hooked on it! It seems to be overbuilt and definitely whips around the track kicking up the dust! Too much dust at one point and I had to go over to the grass to breathe! LOL! I do like the paint job and I will try and get a little more bolder with the other body when I paint that. It will be back for more runs for sure, it was a great time out there. Take care Mark and have a wonderful week my friend!!

      @billzkustomz that I didn't know but I know their engines are strong and so are the buggies. My Nitro buggy looks brand new apart from the underneath is scratched up silver and not orange like the top of the base plate and hop ups.

      @AddamsPlayground  11 днів тому +2

      They have been around for fairly long time, just never had a large market share in the US. I won't pretend to be an expert on them as most of their stuff was either nitro or higher end race stuff so I never really followed them. I do have a Ofna Nitro buggy that is affiliated with them but I am not sure how the branding and stuff works out between them. I would not have known it existed unless Al had not shown it on his channel. I am glad he did as I like it! I look forward to getting over to race him on his track!

      It is something outside of my normal and my only complaint with it is I wished it was a kit and I could have built it all up from scratch. However it did save a ton of time! LOL! It was a little much for my track but out on Al's track it should be a lot more fun. Who know, it may end up going to a real track at some point. I had a blast sling the dirt and dust around the track but it was getting pretty thick and my neighbor was out entertaining on her back porch and I was kicking up too much dust so I had to hop over to the grass. That and I was choking myself out with all the dust too! LOL!

    Hi Addam, You didn't have to mention me, but I really appreciate that. I know this is the first run, but what do you think? That's an awesome looking color scheme, I may have to get two more bodies for both the PR Racing and the TT2.0. That 4000kV put some zipp in that truggy. It drifted around the track like a pro. It is a tough truggy made for racing and an occasional bashing. They probably could have designed the center diff a little different for easy maintenance, but the rest is easy access. I hope you enjoy this one as much as the rest of your collection, take care and have a wonderful week.

    • @AddamsPlayground

      HI Al! You were the one that introduced it to me and you have several videos on it so why not give you a shout and if folks liked the truck they they would head over and check yours out as well! I am very impressed with my initial run with it. #s is a bit much for my track but would be great for yours. I was set up really well right out of the box and seems to be built super tough! I also like the parts are reasonable as well. The new body and wing only cost $34 together and I got a full set of pre-glued wheels and tires for $32. Normally from many manufacturers the price together would barely cover one of those things! The body was surprisingly easy to paint and I will try and get a little bolder on the next one! I think this one is going to get a lot of running with it. It is easy to work on and clean and is tough enough to get tossed around regularly without worrying about breaking it! Take care and I will be in touch!

      I am glad you enjoyed it! Al is 100% to blame for this being here but I am glad he showed it off, I like it! I know that Hobao has been around for a long time but they have not held much presence in the US outside of their high end race cars. Mostly I know them from the on-road boom of carpet racing and then their nitro kits. I am very glad I picked this one up as it is built very well and it should be a blast ripping around the track with Al as well. His track is big enough and long enough to really get them out ripping around fast! I think for mine I really need to dial it back to 2s and it will be better suited but I needed to drain that 3s pack so why not give it a shakedown on psycho mode! LOL! Take care and have a wonderful weekend as well Fonzie!

    It looks like a nice little truck, I’ve never even heard of HoBao before. I don’t care much for the body styling though, but your paint job is great. I don’t think that I would ever try anything that ambitious. I’ll have to look into it, there are plenty of 1/10 bodies that would fit that.

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  11 днів тому +1

      Hobao has been around for a very long time and I know them mostly for their run in on-road racing and 1/8th scale racing. Ofna is affiliated with them, I do not recall exactly how but they are under the same umbrella. The body has grown on me a lot more. It is not the cube looking cab forward style of the modern racers and has a good mix of classic stadium truck look to it to offset the modern styling. Still not the most elegant thing out there but it is growing on me. The paint job helped a lot too, painting it one color was going to be too boring and not "racy" enough for me! Overall the paint job was fairly easy and I will definitely get even more creative with the next one as this went well. I may pick up some airbrush paints to try and so some fancier fades and line work.

That servo looks very decent indeed and getting a few dollars off the price, due to the box being slightly damaged, even better 😊😊. Love the body colour scheme, you certainly surpassed yourself and I admire the patience (this time round 😂). Using spray cans to fade between each of the colours, you did an amazing job ! 😊😊although, I think the track is too small for all that power! 😂😊😂 over to Al’s you go 😂best wishes to you and the family 🙏😎😉

      Yes, I am looking forward to some fun running over at Al's once we can find the time to do it. The servo is really nice and much faster than the cheapo ones I usually use. This truck needed a bit better than one of the generic ones I generally use. The body turned out well and I think I will get a bit more adventurous with the other ones since this one turned out well. The backup body becomes the test subject! The 3s power is a bit too much for the track but I needed to drain the battery since the speed run ended abruptly before I could get a chance to use it! I think on 2s power it will be a bit more controllable on my track, I will save the 3s for Al's bigger one!! Take care my friend and best wishes to you and your family as well!

    @TonyGardnerRC 11 днів тому

    Nice review there Addam. It comes across as quite loud on the video, did you find that to be the case? Like you not really a fan of cab forward as I think we've already said. Interesting that they don't pre paint the body. Great if you want to make it individual, but maybe a pain if you are used to buying RTR's and just want to get out and use it.

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  11 днів тому +1

      Hi Tony! Yes it is a little on the loud side with the exposed mod1 gearing. So it is definitely louder than your normal Tamiya or Kyosho kits, more like the bigger basher kits.
      The body is growing on me. It is not the goofy look that a lot of the race truggies have with the squared off cabs and extremely far forward design. This sets it a little bit further back and it is more like the classis stadium truck styling to it. It is still not the best looking thing out there but it is growing on me more. I think the paint job turning out decent helped that too!
      They do offer RTR kits of these with fully painted bodies so for folks wanting to get one but have to tinker around with anything right away they do have a fully RTR version. These are more for the folks wanting either to race it or just to put their own gear in it and for these they come with the clear body. It is a nicely pre-cut one with the hole pre-punch for the body mounts so it is pretty easy to blast a paint job on it. The trickiest part would be to get the window masks on it!

    I always liked Ofna, ahem, I mean Hobao... Your paint work is very suited for the "Truggy" as it looks factory. At under 3 bills, You guys got me looking at them (although I have for the past few years anyway). Great run man, it seems very planted and the slomo shots make you look like a pro driver.... I do still have my Ofna 1/8 scale buggy from years ago. It was a fun one and super tough. I have thought about converting it to electric but decided by the time I spent all the money to do it I could have just bought a new electric kit! I will keep it as it is as a memory of the past. This truck was a lot of fun to drive and it is a great price for an almost ready to run kit. Add your electronics and splash on some paint and you are good to go. It drove really well, took a little while to get used to it but on 2s it would be better suited for my track. The slomo shots were mostly the buggy and selective editing to show the few good corners! Things are good here, hopefully the same for you guys! It is a pretty cool truck and I am glad Al featured this on his channel or I may have not known about it. Hobao is not a huge market holder over here so I rarely see anything from them outside of high end racing news. It looks like a great car. Your paint job is excellent. Your wiring is very neatly done. Are there dual chassis stiffeners on the car? I think you did a great job of control it with a 3S on your track. In the pictures it looks like the car has a lot of tow out. On the grass you could see how quick it really is and the camera work and drifting the corners was great.

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  11 днів тому +1

      It was a very fun one to rip around and on 2 s I think it will be a bit more tame and controllable on my track. on Al's bigger track the 3s should be a lot of fun. I always try and get the wiring as tidy as I can, I have torn out or rubbed through wiring before in cars so a few extra zip ties is a whole lot cheaper and quicker than rewiring an ESC or replacing a receiver from a incident! In the stock form it has tow degrees of tow-in at the rear and looks to be about 3ish in the front. It does have a dual tube center brace so I think they now it is going to take some hard landings and they prepped it for them. I left it all stock as I did not want to tweak anything before going out with it for the first time. I all seemed to work very well with the stock settings. I am glad you enjoyed the run part of the video, I had a great time out with it!

      @AddamsPlayground I am terrified of painting, one can with a backer no problem, but it's the idea of a design in my head that I just can not ever seem to figure out, especially when it comes to "sequence" of colors...bothered me for years!! Kinda makes ya feel like an idiot inside!!! LoL

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  11 днів тому +1

      @@jeremymiller2340 it can be tricky and sometimes you have to break the rules and cheat the order in which they go on. This on was fairly easy, I just masked the silver lines first following what I traced on the body. The taped over all the rest of the white/yellow sections. I sprayed the black on the back first, then the blue. I removed the masking from the white/yellow are and sprayed the yellow on the best I could and then backed that in the white. Lastly I removed the striped area and painted them in with the silver. Once.last coat of black to make it all uniform and it was done.
      Try and find some inexpensive body shells, blemish bodies or something on clearance at you hobby shops and experiment on something that is not scary to ruin and you'll learn a lot from trial and error. Really good tape helps a lot. The Tamiya tape is super easy to work with and seals very well. Just know also that all the ones you see me do and so many others do, there are little mistakes in them, you just don't notice them as you are not the one that did it and are probably covered by well placed decals!!
