- If you are someone who has an inclination towards visiting the offbeat places in Goa, then villages of Goa can be a good start. Far from the beaches and crowds, deep in the hinterlands of North Goa, sits the charming sleepy village of Aldona. The first thing that you'll find while researching on Aldona is that it is called "The Most Beautiful Village In The World". Intrigued by this I ditched the popular tourist places in Goa and instead decided to spend a day at Aldona to find out what really makes this sleepy neighborhood so special.

I am so glad you enjoyed Aldona. So proud to say Aldona is my hometown, more particularly Corjeum. Most people associate Goa with beaches and parties, and miss out on the real Goa tranquility and beauty.

Thank you guys! Your video presentation on the beautifully scenic and quaint Village of Aldona is truly impressive and above all, quite Nostalgic. I haled from the neighbouring village of Assonora. In the early 1950s, I attended St. Thomas High School in Aldona, along with my two (now late) brothers and a cousin, walking back and forth all the way, on a daily basis. Eduardo Soares was our School Principal then. It used to be a tiring, two and a half hour Walk each way, having to carry our school books, bound with a canvas waist belt, and a metre-long umbrella to ward off the sun's baking heat. No tuck, no snack, no Water bottle then. As youngsters, we knocked on open doors along the way for thirst-quenching and every time, the householder, mostly an elderly woman, would generously, offer us, terracotta pot-chilled fresh drinking water and biscuits, with a smiling face and a heart of gold. ( "O Mãi, kônd Gharan? / Kônd Dharan!" is still a heartwarming Sacred Memory). We had no backpacks, plastics or schoolbags then. Neither could we afford a bicycle. We had to take a canoe-crossing twice daily, along the way, between the villages of Malloya and Kitula. It was very stressful during the Monsoons, as the riverbank used to be mucky and slippery, messing our uniform and feet. We walked barefoot whilst on the riverbank and Levees, carrying our leather sandals, till we reached firm ground. But, that was life as we knew it. Truly, truly Nostalgic! Thanks again!

My mothers family are from Aldona! I used to go there every year for the summer holidays! I love that place! Feeling nostalgic! My Grandfather was buried in that cemetery. Proud to be a part of Aldona!

It’s a beautiful place. Honestly most people don’t know about this place. I remember how we used to visit during our vacations, fish in those backwaters..had so much fun. I liked the background score you’ve used. Creates a very nostalgic feeling 😊

We had the pleasure of staying in Aldona for 4-5 days. It really is beautiful.

The Backwaters of this river reach all the way from the Mandovi confluence to Assonora, passing by Carona, Aldona, Khorjuem and a few onther villages along the way.
@@lucasdesa5592 yes. One part ends my side, about 150 meters from my house across the fields. It's where the shallow side of the stone dam bridge waters end.

Literally rest in peace. That's what I did many years ago in this peaceful cemetery. I was tired after a long bicycle ride. Stopped here for a bit and fell asleep, woke up 3 hours later, completely rested....
I miss Aldona, I lived there in the 70's it used to be quiet and peaceful, I hope to return some day.

On my last visit to Goa..a goan drove me to a cozy, goan restaurant in this village, that she and her husband like. The friendly host kindly visited our table , i dont remember it's name but yummy food and fairly good wines too.

Went to Aldona on my last visit to goa, in Feb.'21 and have to agree with you, that it's an absolutely lovely village, neat and clean and St.Thomas church is a beautiful structure. Was glad to go off the beaten path that most tourists to Goa do, beaches & bars. Saw another beautiful side of Goa, which, after so many visits, never ceases to amaze me. Goa you're beautiful..

I am from Aldona & have seen it evolve (devolve?) over nearly six decades. There used to be majestic Indo-Portuguese villas around Cottarbhat - the market area where my ancestral house still stands at the centre, which have made way for ugly concrete monsters.
And this story is being repeated all over Aldona & the surrounding villages with not just our ancestral heritage but the last remaining verdant tropical forests with their diverse flora & fauna also making way for concrete jungles that are being constructed as fast as the properties are being sold.
According to a Delhi broker the huge demand for property in Aldona has arisen after the publicity of several UA-cam videos like this one.
Your video has been beautifully produced, but at the rate at which Aldona is being advertised & DEVILoped it might soon lose it's status as the most beautiful village!!

Though I had been to Goa so many times, I never heard of Aldona , I suppose in, this village , predominantly Catholics stay as there is no Hindu temple in whole video Next time I will definitely visit this place
