Not a buy but I grabbed my old collection from my mom's house and started going through it, there is quite a bit of joy seeing old cards that used to be worth nothing having real value now. The 8 steelshapers gift and 7 krark clan ironworks I found right away really put a smile on my face
yea, just happened to me recently. I was looking through my collection that I havent looked at in over a decade and saw my two Lions' Eye Diamonds' and I didn't think they were this valuable. A friend of mine gave them to me like 15 years ago for helping clean his room LOL. I think they were worth like 10 bucks at the time?

The days of finding good ‘random lots’ seem to be over. People know what they are selling. I got hosed on the last lot I bought. Got one more to open. I keep my eyes out on eBay and Market Place, but not seen a promising lot for months.
Yo at 12:34 that llanowar scout has a misprint that's called crimping. It's actually somewhat desirable for misprint collectors depending on the card, I could see that one fetching a few bucks

I used to work for the Goodwill in downtown Seattle and the one in Bellevue, I assure you any MTG cards that come in are searched.

You mean Goodwill employee knows whats what and pockets the best stuff. Man if circumstances are right and the rest of them aren't MTG fans or collectors, that could be a nice side business for that employee :D
I've stopped trying to "get lucky" on random buys. If I see something decent at a flea market or whatever I'll make an honest offer but other than that I'll never buy collections offline. If they're on the web, people have looked up the cards for sure. It's the moon or the floor. Too much of a gamble

There are quite a few that are worth a few bucks, cards that are useful to play in certain decks and formats. I always try to pick them out
