So I go to locals and though I usually end up winning I don't really get to play the lars gambit because of the amount of mashing/lack of respect in the players like they will sit there get hear dashed and still mash a launcher. And like I said yeah I end up winning just because of block then punish but I feel like if I'm just gonna have to play solid fundamental tekken what's the point of playing lars without being able to run the gambit because there's no respect being given to you at all is there any way I can enforce it that I somehow just don't know other than just den 3 Sen 1 because assuming it's not on hit we have no other way enforce the pressure correct? Technically, even on hit, we aren't really plus. I don't know if I'm just burned out but I feel like lars is the only character that has a gameplan clearly intended but just has no tools to actually enforce it.
There are some things he has to enforce 50/50s. You have to explore your options in every situation. Understand gimmicks vs real frame traps and know when to turn it on and when to turn it off. Adapting is also important. Watch everything observe every detail about your options and what your opponent does
I really feel the same way, it feels like you have to choose between frame traps and mix. You can very rarely get both with Lars, unless im missing some crucial info
ff4,2 --> DEN2//DEN3+4 is almost real; DEN3+4 is short by 3 frames, but a mid that also covers mash option (especially one as good as DEN2: CH launcher, 40 dmg normal hit, safe mid???? wtf) makes lars ff4,2 one of the highest expected value gambits in the game. not to mention the 27 initial dmg makes ff4,2 being launch punishable almost worth it alone another underrated one which seems silly at first but is very high value and is a completely real mixup is 1,4//1,1(hit confirm 1). 1,4 at +1 loops back into the mixup. Hitconfirming 1,1(mid),1 when you anticipate they crouch the 1,4 gets you 29dmg and heat dash, AND 1,1 is not only safe on block but good players will anticipate the followup, giving you yet another turn. additionally, the second hits of both 1,4 and 1,1 track: the only way to not eat this mixup is to sidewalk, but 1,1,1 even on whiff still catches sidewalks for some reason.
