Not so much a tech tip, but a market suggestion. A Gen 2 LT1 making 1800+ HP just ran a 6.96 @ 211 at World Cup. And you guys don't sell anthing for that engine lol. Lots of guys are swapping GM LS coils onto those and running them with an 0411 PCM and HPtuners or going to a Holley EFI setup like I have. And we'd love some of the stuff you build exclusively for LS guys to be brought to the SBC market. Some of us are trying to bring these old "boat anchors" into the 21st century. Some center bolt billet valve covers with built in coil mounts for an SBC/LT1 would be a great place to start. Steam port kits would be cool too. After all, it is the superior engine 😉. An LS powered car has yet to run 6's with an H pattern trans after all. But Tick Performance did it with the most underrated small block GM has ever built lol.
How about a tech tip Tuesday on how to use the rife sensor blocks, what they're good for/ not good for, and maybe a good 1 on fuel injectors, fuel pressure, and regulators/ boost demand regulators
Just thought of another 1, how about a tech tip Tuesday on electronic throttle body vs cable throttle body (LS car applications only), which is better and why? And how to change from electronic to standard cable setup. Just got a nick williams 102, been wondering how the new icon throttle bodies stack up against electronic 1's
Would love to see a video with the newer EWP water pump, how you mount them, how you control them (Pwm, constantly on) and how your bracket can help put together a remote water pump setup.
It’s funny, I was just having this discussion with someone asking why I was putting my IAT in my aluminum intake. Are the Holley sensors problematic as well?
I really enjoy tech tips Tuesday Doug you always tell us all the information that we need when we're building our own cars. Excellent content as usual.☝️👏🤜🤛🤚🤏🤘🤞🙏👋💯

hello, I did a swap with a 5.3 gen III vortec engine, I changed the original intake manifold for an intake manifold with a double throttle body, do you think that the best location for the IAT is the back of the intake manifold? What IAT reference do you recommend? Thank you for your answers.
Hello sir i have a question for you ??? I did an LS swap is a 5.3 vortec .i installed an aftermarket intake manifold aluminum. I have a holley terminator x max wiring system. I was told to pur MAT SENSOR IN FRONT OF THROTTLE BODY 90MM SNIPER. I HAD IT UNDER THE INTAKE BUT IT GETS 150 + HOT . NOW I INSTALLED IT IN FRONT OF THE THROTTLE BODY AND STILL RUNNING HOT AND ON MY HAND HELD CONTROLLER SCREEN SHOWS SOLID YELLOW AND MAKING ENGINE RUNNING HORRIBLE ??? ANY IDEA I CAN USE THE HELP .THANKS
Hello I have a complicated one with the IAT sensor in my 2006 VW Passat FSI engine, how can I give more details and get your advice on what to do about it sir?
I have a 3.8L GM engine Series 2 with a supercharger, and the factory location is at the air intake right at the air filter of all places. Is there a way to alter the location to the throttle body with a vac hose so I don't have to disassmble and drill/weld/tap the factory setup? Or does it really not matter on that model (1996 Buick Riviera, supercharged). The thing pulls great and I'm not sure if it would be worth while.
Can I change my old one to the one you recommend without any tuning to get better and more accurate readings, or will it need to be retuned with the new sensor on it first?
I heard befor and also saw it in another video, is that when you unplug a MAF sensor while the engine is running, if it shuts of then the sensor is working, if still running, then the sensor is bad. Does this apply also to IAT sensor? I mean, is that another way to test it? Specially if you have no multimeter?
Unplugging IAT would set an error maybe a MIL light but wouldn’t shut off. Also not every car with a MAF would shut off some still may run when unplug , so be careful with those types of unplugging diagnostics .
I notice that those sensors are rated from -10F to 335F. Does that mean they don't work properly in environments where the temps regularly get as low as -30F?
Might be worth mentioning. That you can save a bunch of money potentially by checking your local. Self service or upickit salvage yard. I know i did. The ABS module i pulled from a car like mine was 25 bucks. Same with engine ecu And Transmission computer or TCM./tcu
I am running an LSA supercharger with a new GM ZL-1 lid. The IAT sensor that is in there seems to respond pretty quickly. Way way quicker than an old style early LS1 style sensor. Is your replacement sensor even better than the unit in the LSA setups?
So let me ask you this since me and my buddy have been arguing about this damn sensor for over a week now…lol. I have 2007 Dodge Magnum 6.1 with a SMS 296 supercharger mounted to it. SMS designed to plug my oem IAT sensor in almost the same location like you have on your LS. I think it’s fine, but my buddy insist that I extend it to the intake air filter area right before the TB. What are your thoughts??
I know alot of people claim that you should put your IAT before Throttle or intercooler etc.. just because that the manifold gets hot from the engine. The thing is, thats why you would want it in the Manifold, to get as accurate temperature reading as possible. The air gets heaten up and cooled down from the air filter to the manifold ( alot of changes up and down because of the pressure changes in the air in the different sized intercooler pipie-intercooler-manifold etc..) . But the last temperature change on the air is goona be right before it enters the cylinder. That's why i would think its stupid to put it too early in the system.
@@matthewippolito8089 but i dont know to 100%. Just read the link ecu manual, where they said "put the sensor before thottle body to avoid heat soak from the manifold.". I guess i the end it may not matter. Rb26dett GTR have their IAT in the manifold OEM.
Touch on good injectors vs bad or cheap vs expensive I bought some snake eaters before to avoid paying the price of a good set of injectors and it cost me more than a good set of injectors would’ve lol

Tell me about it bro...!, I’m living in Germany for a few years now and the price of gas went up 30c in 1 month, Diesel price increased by 40c a litre.. (There is 3.75 litres in a gallon) At €1.79 per Litre, that’s € 6.71 per Gallon, then convert that into dollars = $ 7.76 a Gallon...! Even though we have a direct line from the massive Russian oil pipeline.. There is no issue with supply over here, they re just Taxing the hell out of us, just to get to work, to pay more TAX on our pay check. Where is the line ?

we use -16 an hose on the EWP150 and control it with a holley SSR. works great. can get a methanol LS warmed up pretty decent.

How do you like it?
Amazing product! I really appreciate you having the settings for the sensor to input into Haltech on your website as well.
I bought one a couple months ago and lost the darn thing!
It’s funny, I was just having this discussion with someone asking why I was putting my IAT in my aluminum intake. Are the Holley sensors problematic as well?
The Holley sensors are simply relabeled auto store slow sensors based off 80s technology
I would like to know what typical temperature range is normal for naturally aspirated engines.
Where do you suggest putting the air temp sensor on a turbo car when you are running on alcohol and without an intercooler?
??? Doesn't matter what the set up is, you want to measure the IAT as close as possible to where the air it's entering the engine IE 3:12
I just got my Rife / Motion IAT sensor in last week. Damn sensor looks nice, can't wait to get this turbo 460 up and running again!! 🤘
on the manifold I've seen heatsoak and trows the reading off, maybe drag racing you won't see heat soak because you run like 2 minutes at a time
what about a 4150 efi intake on nitrous ? where would you put the sensor
Thanks for the awesome Tech. Could you do one on suspension limiters please..
In a nitrous set up, where would you typically mount the sensor? Are they compatible with the nitrous?
megasquirt ecu's generally want to use the typical GM IAT sensor, do RIFE IAT work for those as well?
