Landed on your channel by chance, perfect landing! working on stuff today in pro tools and the delay was just getting lost, will try your approach tomorrow, liked and sub. thanks, Clive.
I like adding a faux delay with a Floyd. It’s almost like a weird pitched delay which I have yet to find in a pedal format. Choose a note you want to accent then you briskly press the whammy about a half-step (more or less) down and release it slowly to the next delayed sound (about 850ms as your video states). It has a nice decay to it as the note dies out. I also like gradually increasing the delay length and how fast I release the bar on the very last note. By the way - those are some NICE harmonics!
Thank you for sharing these great info! I have 2 questions: 1) Feedback: how many repetitions do you consider as the magical number, maybe two-three? 2) Always on delay: would you recommend a setting that could be used as "always on" or it would ruins some riffs? My band is a power trio, so I'm experimenting how to sound bigger and cover all the empty spaces, however too much delay may ruin things up
So sorry for the late reply. I would say 3 to 5 repeats would be perfect for solos. For an always on delay, you want the volume to be quite a bit lower but still enough to hear it when you lean in to hear it, if that makes sense. Probably around 2 or 3 repeats on that. It should just be loud enough to create some space and to be heard when you're stopping in between passages just to fill the space a little bit.
You can use it for any tempo as a general rule. You can also use tap tempo for each song, but I don't like having to worry about that when I'm starting each song in a live set. 850ms seems to fit really well with just about everything.
Try using two delays the short one in front of the long one. Four instance on your first delay use the short slap back like 150 ms followed by a longer delay 1/4 note or about 800 ms.
Thank you! I'm glad you like my playing style. That really means a lot. Here's a link to my music. music.ua-cam.com/video/gT0mZPG1V_s/v-deo.html&feature=share

Thanks for commenting. Yeah, give it a try. It sounds amazing especially when you're on stage
Again, awesome video! Thanks for the tips!
Sounds great but it sounds very tecno. Im more into delay settings that gives me a little more, but not where it sounds like Im using a delay. Almost like two guitars playing note for note.
So you like a 10mm setting that gives you a double tracked effect?
Great video thanks for the tips
Much appreciated. And you're welcome
I will try this setting tonight on my ax8 😎
@@Shekius cool! Let me know how you like it
You are so much into John Petrucci
Which Kemper delay and settings? I’ve been struggling with this a bit myself - which is how I landed on this video. Just subscribed 🤟🏻
I’ve been making patches on the Kemper where I turn reverb off when I switch to a lead sound with delay - I find the reverb almost washes it all out but still experimenting with lower reverb settings. So many damn parameters on all these effects - would love to see more detailing a specific lead setting for Kemper. I’m sure I’m not the only one that would love this.
Hello Mike, so sorry for the late reply. I appreciate your question and suggestion. I will do an episode about this asap.
Until then, here's my delay settings for lead
