One of the few, historical, accounts of the early history of the settlement of the USA that I have enjoyed. A great presenter and easy to listen to. This for me has been a five star plus presentation. Thank you so very much. Andy from New Zealand.
I used to visit Independence Rock when I lived in Casper, Wyoming. What an interesting monument to all the brave, adventurous pioneers who crossed this country looking for a better life. Thanks so much for bringing their journey to life.
Super soothing voice of narration as we see footage from the sights along the Oregon Trail. Hearing the narrator read from the journals of the pioneers helps to create a sense of the atmosphere of living at such a time. This is a wonderful resource and much appreciated!
Really, with all the hardships, those brave pioneer families were excited and had wonderful experiences. Some of the pioneer journals are full of joy, accomplishment, family trials as well as beautiful times.
I really enjoyed this film. James, I had the pleasure of meeting you last Saturday at the Ei mixer at Wonderland Lisboa. Before moving to Portugal, we were fortunate to travel the US in our RV, and saw many of the places along the Oregon Trail. With your film, you have suceeded in bringing history to life. The music was very good also. I'm looking forward to watching more of your production soon. Hope to see you again at other expat functions. Cheers
Thanks very much, Randy. I'm pleased that you enjoyed the film. It was a pleasure meeting you as well; I sent you a connection request on Expats Portugal - let's stay in touch.
@adventurefilmmaker Yes we'd like to stay in touch. We come to Cascais pretty often to shop and hang out. I'll go on Expats and figure out how to get back with you.
disappointed my family is not mentioned "Kelsey" Nancy Kelsey was a member of the Bartleson-Bidwell Party and reported to be the first white woman to travel overland from Missouri. Wife of Benjamin Kelsey and sometimes referred to as the Betsy Ross of California for her role in creation of the original bear flag.
44:40 - about Pronghorns, the fastest land animal on the western hemisphere, not really an Antelope but a Giraffoidea and related to the Giraffe and Okapi. Once roaming the plains and mountain valleys, perhaps as many as 50 million, but just like the Bison, the Beaver and several other wildlife species hunted and deprivated to near extinction by the Euro Americans. By 1920 there were some 13.000 left.
Very Nice presentation. But don’t forget the Federal Government encouraged the destruction of the vast buffalo herds to help defeat the native people. Most narratives skip over this little detail.
The sad part of this video is at 55.00 when your looking at a beautiful crystal clear spring and then here comes a motor boat in 4 foot of water, with a dog jumping off, and the city lady says, They, the dogs. Love chasing the Marmots. So in other words, we dont care about disturbing nature, our dogs love chasing wild animals. So sad, and So Pathectic what people have become today. I will be so happy not to be living that many more years for then I will not see this distruction continue.
@@andrewhorsburgh2549 When they uploaded it, they called it a movie, I too expected a movie. It's a great film, just NOT what it was advertised as. Look under the picture, it says full movie.
Question for you: It was shown on the big screen to live audiences all over the country; if you're saying it shouldn't be called a movie, then what should it be called? A show? A presentation? A Travelogue? Recorded lecture? Give me your opinion. Thx.

man I've been enjoying this! excellent use of historical accounts, beautiful country, and decent reenactments 🤣🤣
Thank you! That's very kind of you to say!
My dad's side of the family goes back generations, 15 miles west of Scottsbluff on the trail. Lots of history around that area of the West.
Brilliant film. Thanks
Beautifully presented.. When i was a child, i saw portions of the trail in Oregon..
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you, how wonderful to have such a collage of the scenery and excerpts from journals of the travelers. A very rich history, indeed.
What a beautiful video. Thank you.
You're welcome!
Thoughtfully and beautifully done! Thank you for presenting this video.

Thank You!
Well done friend.. I enjoyed this deeply. Cheers mate
Much appreciated!
Great show thank you
These people built America
Free land for all, but the people who were already calling it home.
Great . More like a documentary.
Of the two main trails, the Oregon Trail was by far the worse. It's a wonder as many people survived it as did.
This isn't a movie but a Documentary.

You can eat those critters, just ask a mountain man! Or a Native American( American lndian).

Really enjoyed the entire film glad I didn't have to make that trip I was just born here in good old Oregon!!!

Thank you for the comment. FWIW, you may wish to know that this was shot in 1996, more than 26 years ago.
World beaters they are everywhere where with dirt bikes and so in on
I agree 💯. Stay Out Of Their Habitat. You Do Not Belong There.
Horses and cattle drank from these places, and no boat fuel was in the water. GOD did not make us and animals to die of thirst.
Don't worry about the marmots, they get good at not getting caught by predators, from being chased by coyotes, etc.
Omg the narrator voice…😂
I'm glad you enjoyed my voice, Terri. Thanks for the comment.
nice. but its not a movie
Wasn't meant to be a movie.

It's a Documentary.. Technically
14:00 You'd have to be a complete moron to ride for and 'hour or two' in a complete circle and not know it.
Humans walk in circles when lost. We can't help it lol. Look it up.
Um. They were settlers. These weren’t intelligent peoples. They were people looking to make a home.
@@cunderw12 Your comment tells me you're not an intelligent person
My Mom used to call it her "short right leg!" Flat forest near Mt. Lassen, CA.@@b.b.6673
Or half moron 😂
