I had a pair of Samurai Jeans S710xx 19oz. 19oz jeans felt like an armor. The stitching was good, but i guessed it was cotton thread so they dont hold as strong as poly-cotton thread and started to rip in some places. I sold them after 2 years straight of wearing. They faded beautifully. Now i have a pair of Iron Heart. Their stitching is as good but they use poly-cotton thread so i dont need to worry as much about it ripping off after 2 years or so. The reason why some brands use cotton thread is because they want to make them look as worn as the jeans fade, but downside is not as strong as poly-cotton. So, i dont think selvedge in particular represent longevity or strength. Depends on the brand
Nowadays new levi's jeans are just crap. They just wear out very quickly, so I stopped buying them. Japanese and European jeans are really good even though they are expensive, they last so much longer
The prices are artificially high and selvedge denim is far too much. Why don't they make the late 1970s wrangler bluebells? Back in the day they were not the cheapest but orange label Levi's were dearer and far weaker. The wranglers have got far worse especially since 2010. Will get decent ones from discount denim stores . TK maxx have very occasional jeans like Diesel at £50 nice cut but still too much when Asda George and Primark are far cheaper at £20 but it's hit and miss with the denim.

Selvage is absolutely beautiful, but this is not an indicator of quality. Already in the late 60s, Levi's came out jeans with an overlock

Would you have the link to the sugar cane dark wash jeans featured in this video?
Hinoya is probably the best place to snag them new. Best prices if you’re in the US
Not all selvedge is raw and not all raw are selvedge..
Where did you get the 505?
