Taal dhamar consists of 14 matras (beats) described by syllabes:

Each of the composition starts at the first matra and finishes exactly on "sam" - the first beat of the upcoming cycle of beats. Audience appreciate not only the movements but first of all admire the mathematical complexity of the composition.
Pt. Jai Kishan Maharaj is one the greatest choreographer of Kathak. Son of the world renowned Pt. Birju Maharaj, belongs to the 8th generation of kathakkas - traditional dancers of Lucknow gharana. Dedicates his full life to dance, as choreographer, music composer and Guru. Teaches at Kathak Kendra in New Delhi.
Magdalena Niernsee has completed Kathak Kendra's Hons Diploma course under Pt. Jai Kishan Maharaj. At present teaches and perform in Poland & abroad, well known for her passion to promote classical indian dance. Appreciating by her students for patience and dedication toward them.
