I actually watch Shannon play in college. He was very impressive as a freshman WR. He was NFL bound and it was obvious by his play. My school had several NFL prospects on its defense and we had no answer for Shannon. The only other Wr unknown to be at the time, to get my attention in game was TO. I watch TO play and he made me learn his name because I wanted to follow his career. I knew the NFL better drafted him or something was wrong. I felt the same way about Shannon.
I will conclude by saying in football no coach or organization will just give you a starting position unless you are good. NFL stands for Not For Long if you don’t perform. In the NFL, every year they try to replace you with a younger version of you. As the NFL coaches will tell you if it close between a vet and rookie, they are going with the rookie.
