TAG really doesn’t fit a mech like the Nightstar. Those Gauss rifles are too vulnerable to be moving into close range like the TAG needs you to be not to mention 48 kph isn’t great for closing distance quickly to sight for fire support The Crab in any variant but specifically the 27SL is much better for this role and not quite so painful to lose components on
I've had success with the Mauler as a brawler. 2 x Large Pulse Laser, 2 x SRM6, 6 x Machine Gun. 1.5 tons of ammo for the Machine Guns. 2.5 tons of ammo for the SRMs. Fill the rest with double heat sinks. If you can get tier 5 Machine Guns, they do 2.4 damage each before upgrades.
When you said the battlemaster was super, I instantly got the song Super Gut by Mo-Do in my head. Now I have to play it whenever I take the BM out on a mission XD
on the battlemaster you could replace the ppc with a large laser and the SRM6 with an LRM10 or 15. 6 medium lasers are enough for close range and you save on both heat and tonnage with the ppc to laser swap wich allows you to take more armor or something.
"Mechs in disrepair." Yeah, okay. "Disrepair." MechSpecs? More like MechWrecks! 😆 PS: Battlemasters and Pulse Lasers are one of my favorite 85t combos. Stacked up MPLs are so underrated.
The Mauler could run as a Black Widow+. Double PPC, double SRM6 (maybe Art.), the MGs ... a shredder. Or maybe try 6 Light Rifles, for fun. It´s an evil punch and very fit for using cover. As mentioned, close range though.
I found that a machine gun build brawlers wreak bases, although the repair bill, eek. In short quick c-bill demolition mission it's wonderful, long salvage battles it should be avoided.
So when I got the battle master it's torso was full of ammo even as it only had two ammo consuming weapons. I took it out blindly and got smashed so fast. I rebuilt and it ran much more durably.
I hit (hitted?) always the timeline till the next mission came up to get as much repair time as possible. I‘m not sure if it really had am effect but who knows anyway. I bought an Atlas at the end because I ran out of assault mechs.😂
They put a bigger engine in the Mauler MX90s, so it’s to heavy to run the standard load out of 4 AC 2’s, 2 large lasers, and 2 LRM 10’s. At best you can run 2 LRM 10’s, 2 large lasers, and 1 AC2. It’s a bad design, 55kph doesn’t do anything for you, the machine guns are ok. Strip it and you can run 5 AC 2’s but will lack ammo. It’s a weird design. I use it as a support mech on demolition missions. It also wants to run up to everything to use the machine guns. Machine guns, PPC’s and SRM 6’s Mack it a decent brawler.
That Mauler with your longbow Battle Master and Dragon is a devastating lance suppression fire as you close then just pop the cans. I do like having to play what's available but I'm also always working towards that command lance. For full assault switch the Dragon with the Nightstar. With Tag. Massacre
You using Raytracing? Just wondering I don't remember seeing flare glare. The longbow needs to quirks like a BAP, reduced minimum range, faster lock on times and a little projectile speed for missiles. They said they were gonna add something post launch for the Longbow soooo.
Got through the first base ok. The second was a different story. Think I hit a glitch because as soon as the enemy mechs spawned the friendly mechs spontaneously combusted....all 4 of them. I was sniping the onion with the nightstar guass rifles and it was immune to damage. Very strange turn of events. My lance got wrecked.
Hey Baradul, I don't know if you read your comments but if you do, would it be possible to make the screenshot you took for the thumbnail for this video available for a wallpaper?, it looks so damn cool!
dude the mechlab in this game is soooooo bad. I am not asking for the stuff we have in mods(tho its within their competence to make it and more) but at least kill the slot size requirements. I get that in lore those mechs have this because they are not omnimechs so refiting them is difficult, but difficult does not mean impossible. make it expensive or take a while I dont care just allow us to make our mechs our own.
Bara messed up in that last mission. He missed the load of tier 5 weapons in the first base he had to destroy. Other then that, he's now past me in this campaign.
The enemies at the end were also kicking my butt really good. That Lance was pretty brutal having a Stalker, Thunderbolt, Orion and JaegerMech. Also running into them in melee range was also ugly
You're more likely to actually be able to afford a cored mech if you roll well enough that it actually shows up on the loot table. The system's really dumb and punishes clean kills.
Does anyone know if Otomo variants can be acquired outside of getting them as rewards in the champing? My save file is past the date where i can start the DLC...so is there any way to get them? Used to have 100% database, would be kind of a bummer if i can no longer have that.
It’s been a solid 6 months since I’ve been shooting up some mechs. Looks like it’s time to return. Only downside is most of the mods I had, have probably not been updated
"hey stalker, get wrecked" lmao finished the playthrough a while ago and it seemed like to me the Thunderbolts were way beefier then i ever remember. they pretty much were the bane to my armor.
Repair-Options are that thing I miss the most in Mechwarrior 5. You're fightiing 1000s of tons of enemy equipment. Sometimes whole companies of mechs. Granted in a Steven Segal/Bud Spencer kind of way but attrition kills you over time. Having some repair bays at least before larger fights in the campaign would help. In the original I think, there were only 2, one where you got your first ally pilot and 2nd in the final mission with the depot where you're battling against an overlord full of mech with one assault lance.
Also in MW3 there was your mobile hq with you on the map which you could send to specific locations and set up a repair station. Way better in the long missions!
that's really clever. i forget that you don't have to just hit the 'repair all' button. just, ignore the structural/weapon damage, go in and repair armor (or even to specific parts!) and call it a day? I love it.
I used all Light Rifles. Less weight and more ammo and armor. They just wreck Mechs as I suppress with my energy arms. I am more of a Back massager or a Knee Capper, and those Light rifles also the job extremely nicely.
@@Cenot4ph I have done several run through with different variations of it. AC2/BF, AC2/Normal (with Medium Lasers) just so many. I have more higher tier AC2 than Light rifles, but indeed an Alpha Strike from all of those LR's puts a hurting on something. And I don't normally do Alpha's unless I need to take the aggro away from my Lancemate before he gets another pilot of mine killed.....Damn you Rob!
Nightstar small energy head slot is begging for a TAG system. Especially now that you have a missile boat or two

Finished it last night. Seems like the difficulty curve peaks in the middle of the series.....
It was fun!
That was my feeling as well. Just completed last night.
Battlemaster, the MVP for all round fighting in vanilla with the speed to get you into and out of trouble, love it!
The 1st assault mech I got on my 1st playthrough ever, kept it untill the last mission ❤
@@docthorr In YAML the melee battlemasters are hilarious.
Usually don't like battle masters but this build I love
It kinda fits that the non-Germanic House Kurita would pronounce Steiner incorrectly.
On that mission green light beacons ment what you had to pick up , but the red light beacons were your extra loot pickup and you missed one .
Another good video Bara. The campaign so far is okay. Kind of shows why a lot of people don't like House Kurita but it does seem challenging so far.

"unfortunately that death will be for NAUGHT if we cannot exploit the gathered information"
Please consider quad light rifles for the MX-90!
Indeed!!!!!
That's what I do.

I wish the game didn’t punish u if died and lose all ur money 😢they should keep it like armor core 6 I miss mech warrior 3 on pc
22:56 you missed the red loot cache which contains tier 5 parts 🥴
Tier 5 Lostech at that.
ADVENTURES IN THE OUT HOUSE SYSTEM...... what a shithouse place
Let the AI use the mauler with MG...it will go nuts and destroy everything and get lots of headshots!!
I hit (hitted?) always the timeline till the next mission came up to get as much repair time as possible. I‘m not sure if it really had am effect but who knows anyway. I bought an Atlas at the end because I ran out of assault mechs.😂
Baradul completely ignoring his best energy pilot who was 6/9....

26:33 That's SUPPOSED to be "For NAUGHT" as in "For nothing."
I watched this video after Playing MW5 myself and I kept wanting to hit the space bar to continue..

put both LB-X10 into the KGC, put the UIAC5 into the Marauder?
You should install all YAML Mods again, they work for DLC5 now
why dont you put a tag on the longbow? it has 1 energy slot right?
I just can't go back to playing this game without mods.
Enjoying your play throughs as usual
Are Otomo variants strictly obtainable in campaign?
I did this set of missions last night. It's gonna be interesting
is this online only or is there a single player story mode? campaign?
Shred is regular. I am shredded/being shredded, not shred.
Bara messed up in that last mission. He missed the load of tier 5 weapons in the first base he had to destroy.
Other then that, he's now past me in this campaign.

Really?
My missile boat BattleMaster, 2 Atlases, and Rifleman Dana didn't have much issue with them.
I had a harder time with the black inferno.
Is it really profitable to ask for salvage shares when you use Longbows and aim for center torso?
You're more likely to actually be able to afford a cored mech if you roll well enough that it actually shows up on the loot table. The system's really dumb and punishes clean kills.
👍👍
the new variants are super cool looking and actual reasonable loadouts
except for the Battlemaster variant with *7* tons of LB-10X ammo, lol

Have they fixed the AI bug where an LRM mech with 2 SRMs causes the pilot to constantly run to the front line?
I tried the exact same thing with AC2s maybe five minutes before it showed up in your video🤣 Then arrived at same build. Keep up the good videos.
It’s been a solid 6 months since I’ve been shooting up some mechs. Looks like it’s time to return. Only downside is most of the mods I had, have probably not been updated
Longbow aka overrated piece of garbage
Can you put med rifles in there?
Oh my God, that's a Mauler!
Longbow head small laser slot wants to be a tag
what does artemis do exactly?
"hey stalker, get wrecked" lmao
finished the playthrough a while ago and it seemed like to me the Thunderbolts were way beefier then i ever remember. they pretty much were the bane to my armor.
going well enough, just came out of the bathtub to see you once again uploaded when i was not on my computer

There is a Repair Bays Mods available, but only works in Normal Missions as far as i see
Baradul, any chance you call TTB and do a Co-op second run for this DLC after the mods are updated?
Hey Baradul, what cosmetic mod are you using to add those smoke trails to LRM's?
Keep it up dude! Loving your content, right now trying to catch up on RogueTech lol
Great vid, thanks!
This DLC is going to be AWESOME with YAML
red crates are t5 gear
dope new dlc
Loved it
Would selective repairs to the most damaged part of your mechs get them back on the field faster, albeit with light damage to the rest of the mech?
that's really clever. i forget that you don't have to just hit the 'repair all' button. just, ignore the structural/weapon damage, go in and repair armor (or even to specific parts!) and call it a day? I love it.
I dont remember if it exist yet...but I do hope we get the Longbow with the ballistic arms.
would love to see that
Yay, more new stuff!
4 ac2s on the mauler would work, but I guess the BF variant would be more optimal

@kevynhansyn2902 yea thats probably the most optimal build
