In a town full of character - will Chris be able to understand the true meaning of the rusted artistic nature? Stay tuned to find out!
Kyle Shields lmao gold!
Kyle Shields lol you're so right. And his photography is so mediocre to say the least
I dunno, someone who goes for faded lettering instead of nice shadows on a white picket fence - chasing kitty cats instead of a designer chair... I'm not mad. Just disappointed.
That fat cat made or over
So having been a Nikon, Fujifilm, and Leica shooter. Both Film and Digital. I'll tell you straight up that Leica is not the highest technological advanced high performance camera available to the prosumer community. In fact Sony's Alpha series ( A7- A9) are the "best" in terms of specs. It's so full of specs and advances, you can operate it like a smart phone camera but get A+++ grade results. Sony is on the road to dominating the Nikon and Canon user base.
Having said that, Leica is my preferred choice. I'm confident in my skill set that I can create the same images with any of these camera. The process is just different. is the process worth the cost. For me, yes. The rangefinder format is what I'm most comfortable with, and enjoy the most. Before anyone starts saying "Rangefinders are outdated and inefficient in today's commercial industry", I'll agree with technological advancements it is not the most efficient way to shoot. However, it is still effective and you can still make the photo. I can manual focus faster than some autofocus camera's out there, and so can many other photographers out there.
Going back to the process, the way you get to an image may not effect the quality of that particular image, but it is the process of photography and makes a person a better photographer; in which inspires them to continue to shooting.
Sony, Canon, and Nikon are amazing companies with amazing performing products. They celebrate and goal themselves on the technological advancements of photography.
Leica, Hasselblad, Voigtlander are artisan companies that celebrate the art and heritage of photography which is just as important as the tech side. With that, they offer amazing craftsmanship, quality, and homage to where the art came from. Their products demand more user interaction and thought process. Leica also still manufactures film cameras! Which is amazing!
And Fujifilm, well, they are caught somewhere in the middle haha. They are killing off the "film" part of Fujifilm which is a bummer, but the flagship X-Pro2 and XT-2 are clear homages to Japanese cult classic cameras... cough* CONTAX G2 cough* CONTAX RTS cough*
In the end, shoot what makes you shoot more!
I have the same with Nikon for digital and Pentax for analog. They're simply the best and when I finally make enough money I will probably award myself with a Leica M3. I borrowed it from a friend and just made me fall in love. The way it feels in the hands is just... divine.
I consider fuji and leica to be technologically superior but they have soul. the other brand cameras are tools.
Loved the subtle humor :)
Chris is just so great at not resisting Leica subjects and compositions!
true that
Both this and the Camway video are really some of the most clever rewatchable camera videos online - Chris has been extremely hilarious lately. Keep up the good work gentleman.
Interesting camera review .
Chris / Jordan I appreciate your honest and Corky thoughts on each review...
I like the fact that you guys list the equipment used for each episode. Keep It Fun - I'm always waiting for the next one.
Hey Chris, awesome video. One of the best of yours I've watched so far.
Nice one Chris! Always enjoy your channel. We started our channel 6 months ago and M10 was one of our first reviews and got a lot of inspirations from you guys. Nic to hear others enjoying this camera. Many doesn't get the unique experience of shooting a rangefinder :) Keep it up and will continue to support you guys! Cheers (from London), Jimmy
The best review I've seen. We just bought one - before watching you! Can't wait to get usin' it!
This was a nice break from the heaviness of work on my lunch break today. Perfectly hilarious
You crack me up with not being able to resist taking a picture of that bike :)
Very fun video. Loved the lane-way shot with the vanishing point behind Chris's head. Loved it when Chris said "very difficultly" and when he missed the kitty shot. Loved all the playful unexpected moments. And I totally did NOT notice that fuzzy spot in the middle of the left side. ;-)
This video is so awesome. Not because of the boring Leica camera, but because of you two guys and the weird footage :D Keep it up!
At first I was bummed this wasn't a GH5 video... but I'm glad Jordon is getting some hands-on time first. The internet has plenty of half-baked reviews. Y'all's are always worth waiting for.
Also this video ended up being hilarious. Chris, you poking fun at your photography style never gets old and I loved the neighborhood you guys explored in this one. Keep up the great work.
This review was particularly surreal and hilarious. loved it :)
Great video, guys! The serendipity of your finds, while reviewing a Leica, are almost too much. I'd enjoy seeing more videos like this with unsung cameras gone by. Maybe in Inglewood?
This video is the most respectful piss take if I’ve ever seen one 😂😂
It was worth it just to see that brilliant shot of Chris sitting in hay... :)
Entertaining and informative, great work guys.
As usual, an amazing Leica review... félicitations!
Some good chuckles in this one. Thanks!
Completely uninterested in this camera, considering I just bough a Sony A9, but "...and I now find myself in this eerie ring of hay-balls, a children's glove, right there, put aside, strangely placed orange pylons and otherwise this quiet desolation, and so now I'm going to permeate it with the sound of this Leica M10 Shutter" is one of the most hilarious sentences I've ever heard. Watching this review for the entertainment is well worth it. Love you guys.
I found out about Gordy's straps thanks to you guys. They're great!
Low key hilarious, very funny and informative review.
Great work again! Even for cameras I have no intention of buying, the videos are always engaging and entertaining. One question: What lens(es) did you use with the GH5?
Haha your best video so far Chris. Very funny and informative. I had the chance to try an m10 and it's true that it captures the feel of the classic Leicas. I shoot an M6 as my daily driver and if I had the money I would surely get the m10.
Really enjoyed watching the video and someone just walking around with the M10 taking pictures with it is very relaxing and informative. I use an M2, would I like an M10? Yes, can I afford it? No. I will have to wait 5+ years before they become cheaper on the secondhand market.
Great review. Love it. Thank you.
GOLD! Best review man ..
As usual, great review.
"Or some sh!t like that" - classic Chris!
Love this video! So true about "must-shoot-Leica-shots"!
The colors on the video seem off with the new GH5. Is it just me?
Excellent review, love the sarcasm. I am looking for the experience, but not at that price! so instead I live vicariously through others hahaha
Great video! ahh loveee the M10!!!!
I need to find my own 'Jordan' and a fuzzy lav for my vids...... and if you want to shoot another hipster-gentrified-alleyway video, come to Vancouver. On a serious note, I'm glad you picked out the same small things I found, both the good and not so good.
Huh and I thought it looked familiar :)
Yeah my first thought was that they haven't been to Gastown. Also a team-up video between you and TCS in Van would be awesome, start off at Revolver and see where your feet take you.
bigheadtaco cameragirl is your Jordan! Or is she currently on strike?
ha ha, I can't afford to keep her on staff. Fancy dinners are expensive ways to pay for my videographer!
Fantastic idea. BHT vs Chris. Jordan vs Camera Girl. I'm down.
I love Chris' 'Artist's Statement!!'
"I am a sensitive artist.."
Also, can we get a link to some full-res images to do some good ol' pixel peeping?
This was. Amazing. Thank you
Guys for street photography what do u recommend my dad has a lumix lx100 and i luv it, was thinking a gx7 but dont know...
Did you forget to check lens for dust before shooting?
And what's wrong with left bottom corner?
Was it shot with AF?
Rambalac exactly wtf that thing on the left kept bugging me throughout the video
can you please do a long term update on the fuji x100 series?
Very funny and informative - you guys are the best :).
After watching this video I have to wipe all the sarcasm dripping off my screen.
Thanks for posting this. I was a little tired of reading the same a9 news over and over today. a9, Leica, the same thing in term of the fact I can't afford. Then I much prefer seeing Chris!! Missed you Jordan!!
That dirty lens/sensor s really bugging me.
Colors are also horrible.
Hey, Chris and Jordan, I shoot m6 and m5, I want a digital Leica--would you recommend an m10 or m-d? Which was your guys' personal favorite?
Would be delighted to get your thoughts on Loxia 85
The 4K video from the GH5 used for this test is more impressive compared with the stills from the Leica M10. Thanks for the piece.
I always like your reviews. I don't like the video color here, what is it? kind of to much shadows pushed.
what a beautiful camera
I don't think you get "parallax" at closer distances, just a slight crop. Parallax is corrected all the way you can focus, but focus breathing isn't corrected for so the frame underestimates the image are at infinity and overestimates at shortest distance.
Super nice video thanks :)
the on/off button switch seems right to me, it always been flick right to turn on.
Nice pictures!
looking towards your thoughts about new Sony A9!!
I am already looking forward to your A9 test. Won't watch any other vids about it until then.
+Dr Scythe I'm out filming the Northrup's review right now, so you might want to watch that one!
Jordan @ TCSTV
Maybe I'll check it out but I really like your reviews the most. Calm, no nonsense, actually showing issues and advantages, my type of humor...and I am being serious here...no need for *** licking.
Nice camera. Every now and then I have a nostalgic desire to return to a digital M body. The I go shoot my Q and I realise why I never will...
Loved the humor in this one. “Artistic b.s”... lol
my brother where are you. we hope your updates regarding sony a9 and g master 100-400mm.
This video was fucking hilarious, great job guys. The sarcasm was top notch hahaha
which one is better for pics Leica Q or Canon 5d mark Iv ??
Yeah!!!! New video!!
Any particular reason to not use the invisiLav?
Which time will the cmpany of Nikon will product the updating of Nikon d810
Loved the artistic non-photo
Is that some sort of abandoned place? or is this how places are in Canada.
Looking at that school and buildings in background gave me the chilling feel of Post Chernobyl Pripyat.
Shooting a gentrifying neighbourhood (stealthily complaining about the fact it's gentrifying) using a rich person's toy of a camera. The irony is palpable.
well said :)
It is a hipster camera, what do you expect? Leica experience..lol..... I nevertheless cannot complain about Chris and Jordan, they have been doing a stellar job in reviewing photography gear.
That is your reflection on the mirror , holding a Leica....
Hipsters shoot film only
You have a point there Pencil Jockey ,but apparently film Leicas are deemed "affordable" nowadays so they will just not do... Every short of riff-raff may buy one and lessen the "Leica experience"
great video
Nice review as usual. I almost choked from laughing at 10:40...but you are apparently very accurate with the statement! Is it true there will be an M10 Monochrom in May/June in keeping with their historic product refreshing of 3 yrs?
Hey, I am currently using a smartphone for photography. Now I am planning to upgrade my camera. I am get a great deal on leica C-lux camera at around USD$650. I primarily want to do landscape, macro photography & lite vlogging. Do I go for this deal or not. Please let me know ????
Would be cool to get you impressions of the A9.
Hope to get my thoughts on the camera online in the next couple days.
Jordan @ TCSTV
seriously can't wait!
@Jordan, we can talk about A9 on live show this Saturday. Hope it's going to be on UA-cam also.
Sorry bro can I ask something how much 📷 ? How can i buy? I live in Cambodia
can anyone tell me which messenger bag he has on?
i can feel the aesthetic :D
Any plans to review the Leica SL?
In Berlin the Leica + Apple + Barbour stores are all within a 200 meter radius in the glizziest part of town.
Is there a reason you guys refer to Calgary as 'YYC', other than the airport? Is it just a colloquial nickname for the city?
Where did take those pictures? Somewhere is Alberta?
Hai is leica m10 fx or dx format
when's the x100f field test coming?
I feel like the colors in the video are ever so slightly oversaturated. Does anyone else agree?
I guess you were watching on a Samsung phone :)
I totaly agree with you, watching it on a calibrated screen.
Agreed
Yes agree
This bloke is a knob
Leica? probably not gonna watch to the end... wait, shot on the GH5? Count me in!
For what its worth, the power switch showing red when the camera off seems like the "correct" way for it to work to me.
i don't understand why this camera is 7k. Am i missing something?
When is your x100f review coming?
Chris is absolutely hilarious in this video. My new fav! (My previous being the "survival" video. :)
Can we stop playing with Toys and get to the GH5 review? Thanks!:) I love your guy's reviews!
Ah the GH5, what are great video camera for background shooting ;)
I nearly died when he swung the thing around.
I'm watching this video just because it was shot on the GH5 and want to see how it performs on this scenario.
How the hack is it so god them big? Sony Alpha series is also fullframe and they still manage to be way smaller.
It's a nice video but boy I'm hoping for that Hasselblad video you teased some time ago. Or an X-T20 complete review.
Hasselblad video will be out first, but you'll get both!
Jordan @ TCSTV
Great video with a Leica.
hey, lovely vid
Canon M6 review please ? Thank
How many slots ?
Guys, what happened to the color grading?
Some open areas the colors and details looks really bad.
4:18 now and those blues and greens are completely off. Skin tones are waxy mishymushy messy.
This has something to do with the GH5 LOG GAMA or something like that?
Jordan what do you think of the video features of this camera? ;)
twingo there are no video options, unfortunately.
I wonder how does Chris and guys think about the older M9? Thinking about getting one to step into Leica world
Tony Li they have a review of the M9
You mean the original Monochrom review? That's probably the same camera though
the switch should not be an issue, just use an acronym eg: "white is right" ( to shoot); and "red is dead"- aka like the empty battery icon on the display.
