It wasnt invented for calculus. And earlier minds had set foundations for calculus, such as by Descartes and Fermat. And calculus was bot invented for gravitational physics, it was invented for optics. Newtonian mechanics can be explained by geometry and algebra without analysis.

In a world where every atom held consciousness, they marveled at the existence of humans. To these atoms, humans were seemingly boundless, an infinite source of power beyond their grasp.
But humans, in their tireless pursuit of knowledge, cast their gaze upon the universe. Its sheer vastness and intricate complexity defied all comprehension, leaving them in awe.
Then, a profound revelation unfolded. What if the universe, with its galaxies and enigmatic mysteries, wasn't a solitary entity? What if, in their relentless quest for understanding, humans unearthed the truth that it was merely a minuscule cell within the unfathomable being of God?
This wasn't just a newfound piece of knowledge; it was an epiphany that reshaped their perception of existence. It marked the zenith of human enlightenment, a moment when they realized their humble place within the vast tapestry of creation. They grasped that, in the grand scheme, they were but tiny cells in the wondrous body of God.
Embracing this revelation, they found solace in their faith and understanding. They recognized that their journey of discovery had led them to a profound respect for God's creation. Their faith wasn't confined to any doctrine but stemmed from the very essence of existence, where the universe was but a cell within the boundless and magnificent body of God.

Newton's work is remarkable. But he need not invent Calculus to describe his theory of gravity. He used much of the ancient geometry from Euclid and Appolonius for that ofcourse with new theorems. His invention of Calculus is a separate work. But, in modern times Calculus, which Newton and Leibniz initiated perhaps separately, is extensively used in the description of motion of bodies under the influence of gravity.

We went from an age of Faith - not Superstition - to an age of Science: an old story: we replaced a living Creation with a complex of intellectual constructs. And as Existence and Essence as the dominating character of the times leap-frog each other it must have been necessary. p.s. Newton spent most of his later years - according to report - studying Alchemy and the Bible. If so - he must have found matter of deep and coherent interest for this to be the case; also - the Netherlands have recently added a Faculty of Alchemy to the national University - according to reports.
