To be fair, the pixel's camera could never match the quality of a real scanner. Which is what he meant I think.

Also, yes, it can match and even get a superior quality, since it is... you know... a camera.
Cameras can be much higher quality than scanners, the main issue is getting the consistent lighting that scanners are great at.

Noob Luke... The scanner doesn't work like that. Little chinease people sit in the scanner and looks at the image you are trying to digitize. They convert it to binary image and they send it to the PC via the usb cable. This is why the box itself is so big.

That is a Google Pixel.
Phone cameras are greatly inferior to scanners though. It is next to impossible to get it flat using the bundled camera app. Apps like Microsoft's Office Lens help, but you can't beat a flatbed scanner.

Paul Hojda I don't know if you've heard of this, but most phones have a thing called a flash specifically for lighting up your images. It usually doesn't take more than a few taps in the camera application to activate it.

my scanner is built into my printer and not gonna lie, for me, buying a printer comes down to which option has the best value refill cartridges. I'm sure a professional photographer or whatever might care about performance and junk but given the prices on toner and ink these days; you could give me the world's highest quality printer/scanner for free and I'd still feel ripped off when refilling the printer 3 times costs more than a new printer, which is often the case.

So the difference between CCD and CIS according to the video is that one uses light and a light-sensitive sensor, while the other uses light and a light-sensitive sensor. Thanks a bunch for that explanation ;)

Please... I have wondered why my old scanner were able to scan the inside of a CD jewel case without any area being out of focus. My two latest scanners hasn't been able to do that, which is why my hmepage hasn't been updated for four years now :-(

Everything mentioning the Pixel but nobody is pointing out how most phones also have a flash you can use as a light, as long as you don't get too close or far away then it should be adequate for taking photos of a document.

I use my cell phone to scan everything unless there is 10+ pages. No difference in quality. its called a flash.

You bought a Google Pixel.... Put your dollars to work- the scan function in google drive auto formats the document (in any lighting) and applies OCR to present it to you in a searchable PDF format

wha. SLOW DOWN. This video is more like a review for people who already know. I had no clue, and was interested. Then this guy explains the whole process in one paragraph. This subject should have been at least twice as long. So 5 minutes times 2 equals 10 minutes. I don't think that is an unreasonable request, 5 minutes more.
Crappy phone camera... from a Google pixel. They could used a phone with an actually crappy camera, but no... they had to show off Luke has a Pixel.

And all of them had some bad things - auto-cleaning during night, wi-fi that is colliding with home network system, stupid firmware, cannot be seen by os ... yeah, I think printers are more interesting :-)

I know that not having AVX is one of the differences of a pentium or celeron compared to intels i3/5/7 CPUs, but I can't find any good videos made in the recent past that explain it.

Interpolation is indeed trickery. Ever look at the specs of some cheap Chinese generic smartphones that claim to have a 13 MP camera? Sometimes when you dig into the real specs you find that it is really just a 5 or 8 MP camera that is interpolated for a resolution of 13 MP. I don't have any problems with these phones probably because I don't own one and see how truly awful the picture quality is by comparison to my Xperia X 23 MP camera which BTW, has a _real_ 13 MP selfie camera. If you don't want a 5 inch phone there are compact models of some Xperias as well that still have all the features of the bigger ones except for the same screen.

Only ask because, yellow and blue make green. Having a green and a blue slider would basically be like having a blue slider plus a "half blue" slider would it not?

"If you're in the market for a new scanner." Then you need to go onto craigslist and click on the 'free' section. Since they're all garbage anyway. Pick up a broken printer with a built in scanner. The scanner will probably still work.
