  • More calving, means more tagging! Now that we've got more babies on the ground, its time to start moving them and their moms away from the cows that are yet to calve to give everyone a little more room to apparently run around!

    Howdy Garrett. I'm getting caught up watching the channel. We've been on a little trip to visit our family. We have 2 great-grandchildren that are absolutely one of the most wonderful blessing of my life! I never imagined myself being a great-grandma, but it's amazing and soothing to the soul. God is blessing you with baby cows, but someday, I hope to at least hear about a baby with your lovely wife. It'll happen in God's time. I love the video and I love y'all. Have a beautiful Resurrection Morning this Sunday. God bless.

      Right?? All sudden your in this warm little cocoon and all sudden your on this hard cold thing all while something poking your fresh skin (grass) and then your body slammed to the ground to get a sharp pain to the ear and having your ballies cut out of you. Lol. But it’s gottaaa be done 🤷🏽‍♀️☺️

    You sure have a way with your cattle. Those mama's seem to know you mean no harm to their little ones. Thanks for sharing your cattle life with us!

    I love that you know each cow and the number of calves she’s had. They’re all so sweet! I remember being little and the cows licking my hand and they smelled sweet. Thanks for sharing- bring back good memories! 😊

    Love this video. All the new life, all new life wanting to do their own things, and yes we want warmer weather. You have blizzards, Iowa has tornadoes, and where I am we have wind. 🤦 Just saw our 7 day by the end of the week we feel like summer but today felt like our cold winter. Hopefully you have normal weather coming soon. Happy Easter.

    Why do you castrate them when they are so young? It seams like it would be hard on them being so young but idk. I am not a rancher!😂😂

    Just interested why no dipping the umbilical cord with iodine as I see many others do? Or are you doing it but not showing on camera?

    • @behindthewire
      @behindthewire  Рік тому

      That’s a good question! So I don’t dip or spray iodine. Because these cows just got into the pasture right before calving, it’s a fresh clean place for the calves to be born. Now if they were in a muddy pen or a place the cows have been hayed all winter, I would.

    Interesting video - although I can understand why those calves run away from you. Especially the bull calves as "Welcome to the world let me cut off your balls". I know you don't want to inbreed but do you keep any bull calves as future breeders? And by the way I like that scarf, it sure is pretty. Keep on videoing, even if you do block me!
