    And that’s how you spend the money.
    It’s like going back in time and paying for Mozart for a lesson. Worth it in my opinion.

    RNRDOLL, listen at 1:16. I agree $28K is excessive. But you know what? If you've got the money, it is your right to spend it however you wish. I was fortunate enough to meet Jimmy Page 15 years ago at Criteria Records in Miami Beach when he was recording an album. He even signed my electric guitar and several photos. I did not have to pay for this experience. But this guy is fortunate enough to have the money, and he got to meet one of his guitar idols. Good for him.

    Hi. I'm the guy in the video. The guys in AC/DC are great. They're down-to-Earth good guys that you might meet in a tavern and have a good chat with. Not one ounce of pretentiousness among them, because they got successful the hard old fashioned way - grinding it out on the road.

      Actually did meet and have a chat with Malcolm in a pub in Sydney back in 1981 with a bunch of my workmates. Great sense of humour and down to earth bloke. R.I.P Malcolm Young

    He paid quite a lot of money to get a guitar lesson but in 1982 I had my dinner with AC/DC and it didn't cost me a penny. They are and still are a bunch of down to earth guys who are just playing some good to honest rock and roll blues.

    It was March of 2000, just after S.U.L. was released. I've met them dozens of times since while they're touring. I can just e-mail the tour manager that I'll be going to a show at "X" city and there will be free guest tickets and meet and greet passes at the will-call window. It's beyond what I ever imagined growing up. More importantly, they're all great down to Earth guys. A true "fan's band." There's not an ounce of ego among them.

    Stuff that a lot of guitarists get wrong when playing their songs (including me). There's a lot of riffs or sounds that are hard for us normal humans to discern, but Angus makes them look EASY!
    Watching Angus play up close is a lot like watching a pro NBA, golf or tennis game/match up CLOSE. They make the incredible seem easy.

    This was probably more of a dream lesson than an actual attempt to learn to play better. Personally I think he was and is one of the best guitarists (especially compared to what some of todays bands consider to be a good guitar piece) but to each his own.

    It went to a charity as well. I think it's a story of achievement. This guy was a busboy, and set a goal, and pushed the envelope to improve his ituation and did so. It's not like the members of AC/DC need his money, so I am confident it went to a good charity.

    cause of my faith, I don't agree with some of there words in there song, BUT iam a guitar player, and I can tell you that angus plays monsters songs, and the reason there music is so good sounding, is because they keep it simple, know that what sounded good then will always sound good, some chords just sound great together, and they always will.

      Talk about a total hypocritcical and ironic statement. Worse shit is said in the Bible. Like for example, pedophila, incest, rape, sodomy, etc. But due your "Faith" you don't like some of the words in AC/DC songs. Man, religious nuts make me laugh. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

  • @hvrock13
    @hvrock13 14 років тому

    @herbology1 Did I not admit that I must have heard it wrong up there? I did. Then you totally flipped shit on me for saying that they dont have time to hang out with a fan. I'd say you kind of over-reacted. I didnt try to make you sound like an idiot in the first post, I just thought you had made a typo or something. I didnt think you were an idiot. And yeah man, I grew up on them too. My whole life was AC/DC. So don't underestimate my knowledge on 'em. I had to use books, but i learned.

  • @hvrock13
    @hvrock13 14 років тому

    I think its also due to the fact that Brian Johnson writes the lyrics now. His songs dont exactly make much sense lyric-wise. The stuff they play in concerts now are songs that were written by the Young brothers and Bon Scott, with a small contribution of Brian. If Angus and Malcolm would take over songwriting again, it'd be a whole other story. Then again, maybe they're too old for the witty things they'd come up with back in the 70's and 80's.

  • @hvrock13
    @hvrock13 14 років тому

    Yeah like the other replies said, They formed in 1973, but didnt officially play their first show till new years eve 1973. So they basically started in 74. But the original singer was Dave Evans. Bon was doing his own thing, he was like, at least 8 years older than Angus. He was the oldest in the band by quite a few years. I do recall that he knew George Young though, and he got to be their driver by knowing him. Then when Evans quit, he volunteered to sing, tried out, and he became singer.

  • @hvrock13
    @hvrock13 14 років тому

    @mallamoozoo When did I ever say Lady GaGa or Britney Spears? My comment was more focused on the 70's, when musicians actually had this thing called talent. AC/DC had talent that lasted, the Angels didnt obviously. Nowadays, it takes a program with autotune and a good looking person to "make it big". That's why the music industry sucks.

  • @hvrock13
    @hvrock13 14 років тому

    @herbology1 Oh I must have heard wrong then. Sorry, it was late. And really, do we need to act like a child and call me names when i had just thought I'd heard something i hadnt? grow up. And well of course he doesnt meet up with the band, They're world famous, they're busy and doing tours. They don't exactly have time to "hang out" Stop being so critical.

    Ac-dc are great, listened to them since the 70's.
    Have to agree with you about Gary Moore, saw him in Cambridge last year, bloody rude and ignorant. Having seen him a number of times and everytime I have been amazed at his lack of people skills, I won't be bothering again! Great player though.

  • @hvrock13
    @hvrock13 14 років тому

    LOL @ the satan comment. I think the new album rocks, I just don't think it rolls. They've still got something, maybe not all of what they used to have, but still more than enough power to blow any so called modern "rock" bands today out of the water.

  • @hvrock13
    @hvrock13 14 років тому

    Listen to the old stuff. That all sounded different. Brian Johnson is where it sounded all too similar. Although it's still great stuff, I think Bon Scott's era of AC/DC was more original and tasteful.

    well, in the primal and historic sense of the word, they ARE. In the modern days, mid scouped digitized guitar sound of the word i guess they are not. But ACDC inspired pretty much EVERY heavy rock band wether people want to admit it or not. Simple riffs, melodic with a heavy edge, that IS heavy music in essence. Ya can't look at everything so black and white, in the world of music especially, there exists many shades of grey my friend. :)

    You'd think the guy that has the money to spend on a 28,000 dollar guitar lesson would also have the money to spend on a real Gibson SG. I'm not positive but I think that light brown SG he's playing is one of those cheapo Gibsons that came out about ten years ago. It's a piece of shit. It's designed for young people, beginners and guys with no money, but it's a ripoff. I knew a guy that has one. I played it and was shocked Gibson could make something so bad.

    Angus started up ACDC him and Bon Scott were friends at school in Sydney and wanted to start up a band.
    They were played pubs etc in Sydney and Melbourne years before they went over seas.
    Bon Scott's parents are Scottish.
    Lol, Australia is pretty much the only place you still get rock bands, Wolf mother and a number of others are Australian, in fact Rock is the main gig in Australia, not dance as in the UK and rap in the USA.

  • @cosmicbuddha24
    @cosmicbuddha24 14 років тому

    First off you missed the entire point of my comment, kymshane made the ludicrous claim that the UK contributed nothing to the music industry.... which is retarded. Second, umm yeah Brian Johnson and Phil Rudd were raised in the UK . Third, I consider AC/DC an Aussie band and the best in the world but I don't understand you guys knocking the UK... is it some kind of inferiority complex? I know for one thing Canadians could care less.

  • @StuC5
    @StuC5 14 років тому

    Very well, I won't talk crap - I'll talk fact. I don't care if they were born in the Himalayas, Mauritania or the fifth moon from Jupiter. The band originated in Australia, in an Australian environment which shaped them to respond to the demands of an Australian music public. It was in Australia that they found the range and scope to develop their own rock identity as a band. I'd suggest they could never have developed in the same way in the UK because the rock scene there was so conservative.

  • @StuC5
    @StuC5 14 років тому

    AC/DC was founded in Australia, wrote its earliest classic songs in Australia, developed its act in Australia before tough Aussie audiences that took no prisoners. Bon was as Aussie as any non-Australian could ever be. Whether this makes them an 'Australian band' is arguable, but apart from Brian and the size of their roadshow, little about them has changed since they last lived in Australia. But for the land down under they wouldn't be the AC/DC we know and love today. End of story.

Now, I LOVE blues....but you want to tell me that all those blues songs don't sound the same? Besides... i defy anyone to show me a band that has made SO many great songs and HITS using a dozen chords and 3 or 4 keys! Good luck...they are MASTERS at what they do! Especially their early stuff....BRILLIANTLY written! Rock-n-roll on high-octane! Blues with a punk energy!

    Popularity has nothing to do with talent. The Jonas Brothers sell millions of records as do alot of other bands that don't have much talent. ACDC fits into that mold. I saw them back in 78 or 79 in NYC sixth row center stage. I saw first hand and Angus was not and is not a great guitarist. Although he was funny. Good no but funny yes.

    Very young? Never "scene" anyone play? Where are you getting these assumptions from?
    Your idea of a great guitarist is different to others, I know he only uses basic chords and stuff, but his live solos and improvisations are unmatched.
    Besides, if he was mediocre then I guess AC/DC wouldn't have sold more than 200 million albums worldwide.

  • @RS1Comedy1Vids

    Can Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Ritchie Blackmore, Gary Moore, Carlos Santana, Albert Lee, Jimmy Page and countless others headbang their way through a perfect solo? Can they collapse on the floor and have spasms without missing a single note? I don't think so.
    Sure Angus may not have the techniques like Clapton and the others, but he is in a league of his own.

  • @JohannesYtterstrom

    Eddie Van Halen has recommended AC/DC to his son, Wolfgang, who listenes alot to AC/DC these days. If some of you think "tapping" is all Eddie Van Halen can, you are more stupid than I thought. EVH's a great guitarplayer, sure it sometimes gets too fast, too must tapping. But that's just sometimes. You obviously know nothing about a guitar if you say EVH sucks. Angus Young is amazing aswell.

    :-) Angus was born March 31, 1955 in Glasgow Scotland. and the young family moved in 1963 to Burwood which is a town in Sydney in Australia. plus Bon Scott and Brian Johnson was Scottish too. so actually all of them is from Scotland

  • @ALKOpadman

    @AsatorTOX yes, they use the same chords. and yes the drum beats are almost identical. but thats what makes acdc so good. its that simplicity that gives them their sound, their uniqeness, and their kickassness. their songs may sound the same, but thats what makes it the best rock ever made.

    it doesn't matter how good the person is, though it does help its how they play, you could play a song thirty different ways, and im exagerating here, but, they are both great guitarists, but what it comes down to is the musicianship, i think both are awesome no contest.

  • @camarorider67

    it all depends on how you learned or were taught to hold it, i was taught to by a blues picker who taught me to play sittin down and when you play standing up,its just natural to hold the guitar slanted because your used to it being slanted from bein on your knee, you cant controll it

  • @tcstratman

    To each his own, but you can't actually think that he is a brilliant guitar player.

  • @nantyboy

    Angus and Mal wrote the music and Brian the lyrics. Although for years a debate has raged as to whether or not some of Bons lyrics were used. Bon used to carry a note book around with him and whenever something popped into his head he wrote it down. The band has always denied this.

  • @libertyordeaf

    "Nothing Aussie about them", are you insane? The whole family emigrated when Angus was 8 and Malcolm was 10. They were raised in Sydney and Angus still lives there (he spends summers in his wife's hometown in Holland). And no great rock bands from America, are you joking?? Dude you seem to know zilch about this topic.

  • @SoloDallasII
    @SoloDallasII 16 років тому

    Well, it's complicated. Bon obviously wrote ideas down while on the road, but the bulk was Brian. One line that was confirmed to have been jotted down by Bon was, "She told me to come, but I was already there." which ended up on You Shook Me All Night Long. Angus has said before that they come up with ideas on the road all the time.

    "unless of course you live in Wades world and become friends with the band" LOL I can do without the sort of 'friends' who charge you $28k to have a jam session with them.
    ps love accadacca, but the friends comment cracked me up

    i'm not saying they don't love what they do, it just seems like a lot of them don't play the guitar with the feel or the emotion that it should be played with, eddie van halen shreds but he plays with pure emotion, i'm talkin bout guys like malmsteen...

    technicality means nothing, most acdc and sabbath riffs are piss easy and yet there some of the best riffs in rock history,
    plus angus invented his own style, something that cannot be said for most guitarists who are apparently better,

    Yeah fair enough but that was in the studio.Never played for them live. As for Back in Black Bon would call into the studio from time to time to see the boys but didnt hang around that much because angus and mal would tell him they wearnt ready for him.

    Nowadays they're not even really hard rock, they're classic rock. I think the vocals make it a little bit heavier tho

    @ESPLTDSMITHY Dude, if your going to be a fan, maybe know the band. Bon was a Scot. Get it? The Bonny Scot? Get it? Ever see the tattoo on his arm that says SCOTLAND FOREVER? Maybe you could write the band and apologize...

    @cosmicbuddha24 malcom and angus moved away from the UK when they were children they mostly grew up in Australia, learning the Australian Culture Speaking with an Australian Accent and they are in fact an AUSTRALIAN band

    Both Angus and Malcolm are scottish, but they were still kids (angus 8 and malcolm 10 years old) when they moved to australia.
    Cliff is englishman too so the only australian born member is actually Phil Rudd.

    I guess you must be very young and have never scene anyone who can actually play because Angus CAN'T. He is mediocer at best.
    Search some of the greats on UA-cam. You will see just how limited Angus's skills are.

    @Noonrider11 I agree but Back in Black was considered metal in its time. It was the one of the heaviest things out there in 1980 but as I've said, it's hard rock. One of the best albums of all time.
