Hi Scott, I might be an outlier but one of the main reasons I keep coming back to your videos is that your passion for this shines through. I think as long as you focus on doing it your way because you enjoy it then the videos will always be interesting (I get to find it interesting why you've added a particular segment or trainer etc). Completely content with these videos as they are and recognise that every one is going to have different preferences so can understand different views - I personally can see pros and cons for of keeping consistent trainers in so there's a foundational structure and clear benchmark/comparisons with others. I like that the videos are long so I can watch bits while working and I feel there's more replay value as I forget a lot of the details. (Can literally come back to one from a few weeks ago and feels pretty fresh). Not sure if feasible due to effort, but one possible solution that might be worth considering could be to add sections to your videos if people are having preferences to skip over things like wrapping lass, as this will also be useful to people who wish to jump to a certain sections/gymn-leader etc. As said, maybe an outlier as I wouldn't normally watch this kind of content but felt passionate enough to comment :) All the best and thank you!

Amazing video as always, a quick (pun intended) tip: when you were fighting Alakazam in the Champion battle, you used Agility against Sandslash so you could outspeed Alakazam
One possible strategy is use Agility against Alakazam because his Psywave or Recover can keep you healthier compared to a crit Slash/stab Earthquake from Sandy, being safer (albeit it's a coin flip, since Reflect or Psychic can screw harder)

Dratini was so super adorable, especially whenever it was one shoting lance's entire team😂.
I really liked the smart and optimal usage of warp and thunder wave, up until the mid game. By the way, you can do the same in gen 2 with finches from twister, it's really helpful for a frail pokemon like Dartini that is in the slow level up group, and needs every exp it can get, to survive most trainers in the mid game. 🤔
Most of it's resets in the first run were due its low speed, with paralysis or burn or poison that would ruin it's plan to win. It especially was really funny with warping lass. It was as if you were both fighting on who would be faster, with the help of 2 glitches 😁,that was the best part of the run for me.
And yeah as you've mentioned before only the jugglers and Agatha are capable of switching out pokemon, but they are really random about that. I think that was saving you in the second run in a way, because if dartini is inflicted with status, Agatha becomes really difficult, that's it was a really smart move to have substitute (that was funny Agatha's hunter was hitting itself with confusion while you were having the substitute on😂).
Anyways, that was an absolute awesome run, the little snake dragon is really proud of you, well done 😁. Keep it up! 👏👏👏

One thing I've noticed is that the Venomoth is always the type that's strongest against the solo run Pokémon. I don't quite remember if it was always like this since the meme started, but if it has, that is some neat attention to detail.

Easily one of the cutest Pokémon. Look at the lil snake face with the lil ear wings. I just imagine little angry eyebrows when it battles.

I'll admit, I didn't have a good time with either Dratini or Dragonair in my brief time using one (it was a Nuzlocke, an I ended up feeling bitter about it when one of my better team members took a K.O. meant for the underwhelming dragon) but hopefully the adorable blue serpent will serve you well in this solo run. Wrap ensures a busted but slow progression for the start.
3:41 - I was wondering why you weren't using Thunder Wave to try and negate some of the damage received but I assume that even in Gen 1, Ground types were immune to that. I certainly know Electric types weren't back then.
7:08 - Rather funny that really. Dratini is such a mystical looking Pokémon and yet it has more Attack than Special, even as a Dragonair.
10:05 - Maybe I missed this in a previous video but super cool to see Sandy the Pidgey trainer has an artwork now! An I'm guess I'm against the 11:45 comment as I love that you consistently bring up certain trainers to the point that they feel fleshed out as characters of their own. There's an association now of these NPC trainers with you and your channel to the same degree as your video layout or even your Venomoth included avatar.
16:45 - Team Rocket heard your remark about not expecting Arbok or Weezing to do good and decided to punish you for it.
22:46 - Hilarious at this point you felt the need to discuss Team Rocket as a whole. An yeah, I can't think of any other Solo run that they've down this well; even the Grunts are proving an issue. I suppose that with slow growth rate of Dratini and the need to grind more, you're fighting more of the trainers and thus exposing yourself to the chance of losing to them more often. At least you're not losing to the Johto Rockets; that would be embarassing.
27:16 - I do like seeing Swift come into play. Perhaps I have a strange fondness for it because of how cool it looks when using the attack (or because of how much the enemies love to use Double Team/Minimise/Sand-Attack.
34:46 - Oh my gosh that was hype! So glad that your increased tempo with the narration wasn't setting up for disappointment and Dratini managed an awesome first win against Lorelei.
44:23 - It's amusing any time you mention that "they don't have good AI" and proceed to lose because of it and vice-versa with wins owed to the CPU's supposedly "good AI."

Honestly, I feel that even in Yellow version random AI is the better AI in solo runs simply because it is merely setting you up for failure later one with decreasing HP, accuracy, defenses/offenses, and statuses that a normal playthrough can sidestep, rather than the good AI which takes into account type matchups and could be persuaded to hit a weaker move.

If im not mistaken, you can use the Pokeflute in battle to instantly remove sleep from your pokemon! Unless you were going for not using any items at all-which i understand- that would have helped the few times you were stuck in sleep! Good video :)

Figures, imagine if Dratini learned Dragon Rage at level 14. I think the early game would definitely be a breeze. Which is interesting since I unintentionally noticed that in gen 4 it learns Dragon Rage at level 15 until it gets replaced with Dragon Tail and having access to the move Twister much sooner at level 7. If you were to have it with transfer moves, Flamethrower, Ice Beam, and Thunderbolt would make it an incredibly fast contender on par with Abra's transfer punches. Though at that point the only challenge would be gaining levels needing you to defeat EVERY trainer you come across with Flamethrower helping you wipe out any bug and grass trainers you find along the way.

Love the Sandy art! As for the notable trainer criticism, I enjoy them still, even when they aren't a threat! Maybe their video presence less in duration when they aren't a threat is fair, but not enough to just outright skip them IMO. At least for first attempts.
I had up to a Dragonair in a nuzlocke run, sadly never reached Dragonite before the run was abandoned. I ended up using Surf and Slam due to tm limits, but at least I could have deleted Surf later since it was fire red.

30:38 would an option be to make a custom ROM where every member is fainted in all slots but the 1st? That way you don't have to fight with them in a situation like this, neither will you be affected by roar/ww. I don't think it's considered cheating either since an alternative is to faint them manually or placing them in the PC; it's really more a QoL kind of er thing.

This can just be done with gamehook and javascript. Could implement it right now. I don’t really like doing things like this though. I feel I change enough with the game already so I don’t want to add any more. Especially for consistency this far into filming the series.
