Sir, great video thanks for that ! I will have an FT 500 for the fourth and last time in my life. Love these bikes. They look and drive great. Kind regards from the Netherlands by Martin !
Oh hell yeah, I own a black ‘83 that is jetted,a/f mod, Thumperstuff header w/ a SuperTrapp slippy. These bikes are a PURE JOY to own. They perform flawlessly! Add a 16 tooth front sprocket & you get 15-18 higher mph without sparing any low power
Love the videos man ! I bought one it's a good bike , hard to get parts ! But the Ft in the video has the wrong side covers on it , the FT500 was 82 to 83 then they change the motor to a vtwin for a year or two ! It should say FT500 !
I had one brand new, my first street bike. These bikes are increadibly stable in the sand of a beach wheras a regular steet bike would snake and be hard to control this FT will get sideways and rooster like a dirt bike. I wish I could buy it.
Dude I just found one sitting in this 81 year old mans garage, offered 1,500 for both bikes , second which is a 1988 Honda Hawk GT 650 31,000 miles he gave them both to me. I just git the ascot up and running . please take a look at.
I have one. an iv had it for 5 years. These things are tanks. not going to lie. iv wreck mine a few time and picked her up and fired right back up. Even blow up my head unit. An my ignition was toast. Like the ignition wasn’t there nothing left behind was the wires. she fired right up when I crossed the Solenoid.
Just got a 83 ascot vt500 with 1,100 original miles just got new coils on it carbs done plugs turn signal relay now I just got to finish painting the fenders but I love the sound of this bike I want to do some upgrades to make it faster I do want it to last though I did take out the airbox and use pods that's what I jetted it for got it running perfect has some good power put on asking for it for it to beat my dad's 1990 GL1500 cuz that's a 900 lb LOL but it's also a six-cylinder
Es lo que mas se les Daña ah esas motos yo tenia una y tambien se le Daño y lo que hice fue adaptarle pedal de arranque de otro motor 500 que si traia patada
The one in this video is the single cylinder. It has the wrong side covers. It’s an FT with the VT side covers. The FT is actually pretty powerful. It’s no sport bike but it has plenty of power.
I had one myself ft stand for flat turd, they self destruct stater moter solidoinds every 2 weeks ( same part as a cb900) Stay away .................... theres a reason these piles of crud didn't sell !
Incidently my next bike was a susuki rg125 ................ miles better than the ft500, quicker in every sense, even if the embarising part was dropping down to a 125..

That engine sound...gotta love it!! I’ve got two xr500’s. My favorite bikes!

This guy should be a test rider for all the bikes lol
Oh wow that's a wicked bike!!

I owned this bike and loved it. Wish they brought back a similar 750
Should have Ft 500 side panels instead of VT 500 panels
WHERE IS YOUR HELMET??????
Classic Kaplan, Before the chain link fence. Before Buddy Reperton.
before the war started and they drew first blood
@@KaplanCycles drawing first blood on Kaplan America??? Big mistake.🤨
It is NOT a bullet proof engine ! The Achilles Heel is the starter mechanism that uses a weird solenoid arrangement that can disintegrate the cogs .

I correct myself I have a 1983 vt500 ascot

"gotta let it warm up" Something i always have to tell my fuel injected riding buddies.
I've let two of these slip through my hands . Great bike .
I too let 1 slip through my hands. Fun bike Good times!
They had so many recalls for starter motor gears, I now a owner who had 5 recalls for new gears.
No wheelies on all the Yamaha Rd's, and now we get wheelies.
Cus HONDA bro.. HONDA!
My girlfriend had one, but I ...errrr...borrowed it a lot. Fun bike! But from time to time it would wag it's head a bit from time to time.

Hi, how much you paid for it ? I found a 5k miles one but not sure about the price ?
I am driving. A 1250 gsa. But I love thuis bike.
Yep day late and way short I was hankering for another one of these.
I'm 6'3 280 lbs... Would I kill this bike?
How do you set the cam chain tensioner on this engine?
what is with the VT side covers?
They are the connect side covers , butt repainted to the wrong model. 7:15
How do you set the cam chain tensioner on this motor? I’ve got an 82 xl500r.
It sets automatically. You do have to check the balance shaft tension though.
How about friends, does any of you have or know where I can get the starter bendix for the Honda Ascot ft500 mod motorcycle. 82
Why does it have vt graphics but (v twin) but the thumper engine?
Long story.
@@KaplanCycles lol. At least ya know.
The right side cover is hard to find for the FT500. Ive bought two and they are getting harder to find.
Buddy Cafe and Tracker are two very different styles. This is a Flat Tracker styling.
Es una buena moto sus500ccla hace ser muy potente
My first bike - Black. Would buy one today.
素敵です
So an XR500 dirt bike with cruiser fairings lol
With electric start and other additives but yes
That this is considered an "antique" is scary, LOL.
Had the thumper version- no power- twin engine much better to get
