You mentioned notifications in the live stream. Possibly consider the mighty mule driveway alarm which senses metal/vehicles. A lot of other driveway alarm products sense via infrared which are susceptible to the 3am deer false alarm wakeup call. For your camera system, if ONWOTE accepts the ONVIF video standard, then you could mix camera brands into the ONWOTE DVR to get a more customized system. Some cameras also have video main (high resolution) and sub-streams (low) which you might want to use if on a slow remote connection where 4k would be choppy or possibly wouldn't work at all. It is true that wireless cameras are overall not as good, but I have three 2.4GHz access points spread across the band which does make for a good wireless camera experience but I still do also have wired with power and wired POE mixed into my system. I could go on all day on this topic. Don't get me started on event detection and timeline view, lol.
You are well experienced! I haven't dived into the features yet, but it looks like there are a lot of setting that I don't even understand. And yes, my Ring camera wakes me up every time a bug craws across the lens!
Perfect timing, Ed! My current security system is getting old and I have thought about replacing it. My house and barn are over 100 feet long, so I have wireless now, but I think I can make this work! Thanks for sharing. - Rick
That looks like a pretty good system. The picture quality looks really good. I like your IT cabinet setup having an open wall behind it for fishing up and down is a huge advantage. Smart thinking.
Nice review Ed. That "dome" style has the more Professional look to them than Bullet Cameras. When I built My new Place. I roughed in a whole mess of Box's & 3/4" Smirff Tube for camera /Data/ Low voltage locations. Cause I knew I wanted Wired Equipment. I have all the Wireless stuff shut off. One Box under the soffits at the corners. 2 Door Bell locations. Etc. In a 900 sqft House I went through almost 400" of 3/4 Tube. Even the "T" stat is in Conduit. It is cheap to rough all that stuff in while the Walls Etc are open. They all come to a 12x12x6" box in the Attic right next to the Hatch. then 2 2" PVC's down the Closet Wall to another box in the wall like You have with a Shelf for the Equipment with Power built into the Box. And a Conduit to the Service Entrance outside to bring the Internet into the Closet. Thanks Much. Mike M.
@@MyClutteredGarage I forgot to mention I have a small rechargeable Monitor like Yours that can power an Ip camera directly for set up right at the Camera. I used it for Work setting up Cameras. It will connect to any style of Video output.
We went with wireless when we I installed our system about a year ago. Although it does what I want it to do, I would go with a system such as yours if I were to do it again. We only have the 1 camera. It is aimed at a strategic location which covers the main driveway to the house, the shop, and the fuel barrels. We were on vacation last spring and I received an alert on my phone. We had a neighbor doing our chores but it was pretty early for him to be there. When the second alert sounded just a minute or two later, I sat up and took notice. There were no vehicles in the driveway and all seemed quiet until POW! A hummingbird attacked the camera. I was studying the screen on my phone so hard it actually made me jump. My wife laughed at me. She said “ big tough ex- Marine. Scared of a hummingbird.
Semper Fi Gary. We have an Opossum we feed at night when she pops out. A few weeks back I fell asleep in a lounger next to the patio table. I woke up to her leaning over looking at me for her fruit. Made this ex Marine, 28 year LEO suck in a big breath, lol.
@@brutalbob3982 , we have a huge black and white cat we call “Bud”. I stepped out on the pad outside one night and the motion light didn’t come on right away. I thought Bud’s coat felt weird. Just then the motion light came on and I was petting a skunk.
OMG, They do make wonderful pets, very affectionate. Of course you have to get them young and have the scent sac removed. I raised an abandoned one years ago, that critter went everywhere with me. I miss her.
Hi Ed! Great review! Looks like a nice system! I prefer my 12-camera wired POE system to wireless any day. I run Blue Iris software on a dedicated PC with a great mobile app. These systems have come a long way in the last couple of years. A year ago I added an AI engine add-on to Blue Iris and now it records all motion but ONLY alerts us when people or vehicles come into view, which is great! Thanks for sharing!
@@MyClutteredGarage Yep, 12 cameras. Two inside, 9 around the house so no blind spots, and 1 in the shop. I really love the AI capabilities so that we only get alerted on people or vehicles and rarely have a false alert. Although, I can program it to alert on many things such as dogs, cats, deer, elephants and even broccoli. Broccoli? Yes, broccoli. That’s open source software for you. LOL 😆
Great review Ed. I can definitely see the pros of a system like this. Once we have the high-speed internet at the overlook I hope to have a similar system...either wired or wireless! Enjoy your weekend...looking forward to the Ed & GP show on Monday!

There is a channel called the hookup and he reviews cameras. I have 70 cameras at the zoo. The overall best affordable cameras to use seem to be Reolink. Axis may be better but most of their cameras start close to $1000. Wee have tried at least 20 brands. Amcrest, hikvison and a bunch more. You can still see and record most cameras if you lose internet unless you are using Comcast's router. We use a software called Blueiris to record video on a pc. We have had very good luck with the stability of Reolink cameras on Wi-Fi. They will get a signal and work where most other devices and iPhones are not able to. They have an app and qr code linking system. Installing the cameras is dead simple. Scan the qr code on the camera and in less than a minute it is configured and connected. They even have a solar version that works at ridiculous distances from the wifi. Night vision and motion detection are also included. They also have PTZ units that are affordable and controlable from your phone.
most of the chinazon products are fine until you have an issue or need any type of equipment support. When it comes to securing important things, stable and established companies matter. Even though most of the stuff is made in the exact same place.
Best wishes for her. That is a cancer that is devastating. My aunt had it and had half of her brain removed. You could not tell that it happened. I had a beautiful and intelligent classmate that refused to go out with me saying it wouldn't be fair to me. She died of it three weeks later. I still miss her 45 years later.
Great review Ed. Thanks for sharing! 👍👍

I ordered the system from the link. I’m so excited for this quality setup.
Thanks John. I think you’ll love it!

Since it records constantly, how many days of video can it store before it starts overwriting the first video sequences?
I’m not sure but I believe at least one week. I’ll let you know next week. 😄 Obviously, the more cameras you use, the more space you will use.
