  • Tony Visconti & Woody Woodmansey's HOLY HOLY play Five Years live at the Shepherd's Bush Empire in London on 30 June 2015.
    ** Contains strong language **
The full show featured a complete song-by-song play through of David Bowie’s seminal 1970 album, ‘The Man Who Sold the World’ performed by original bass player and producer Tony Visconti , legendary ‘Spiders from Mars’ drummer Woody Woodmansey and their awesome band Holy Holy, with vocals from Heaven 17 front man Glenn Gregory. Guest vocals were also provided by Marc Almond and Lisa Ronson, daughter of the late, great ‘Spiders from Mars’ guitar wizard, Mick. Guitar duties on the night were shared between James Stevenson and Paul Cuddeford.
After the ‘Man Who Sold the World’ showcase concluded with a blistering rendition of ‘The Supermen’ the band played a second set of David Bowie greatest hits and live favourites from the period 1969-1973, including the first three songs from the legendary , ‘The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars” in album order. It was a real shivers-down-to-spine moment to hear the original Spiders drummer, Mick ‘Woody’ Woodmansey’, play that iconic opening drum pattern that kicks of one of the best, and most important, albums of all time!
This was Holy Holy’s second appearance at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire performing ‘The Man Who Sold the World’. The original show, in September 2014, was recorded and is available here:

Holy Holy are currently in Japan, and will play two shows at Billboard Tokyo tonight (6 July) and two the following night (7 July). Not to be missed!

Terrific to see both Woody and Tony Visconti forming a band and playing the classic Bowie from the Hype-Spiders era material again. I think that is such a wonderful thing to do.
    Good on you Woody!
    Good for you Tony!
    So much appreciated.
