Zambia's greatest visionary political leader. He was this first political leader whose meeting I attend in Luanshya in 1970 when he was the Vice President of Zambia. He addressed a meeting at Kaunda square in Roan township and I vividly remember telling us that in future water will be bought from shops just like Coca cola. He said this when people attending the meeting did not bother to close the water tap each time they drunk from the tap and left it running. His words have come to pass; we now buy drinking water from shops like do with Coca cola.

Early African politics are all tailored like this. They fought for freedom together but forgot to free their minds from the greed for the position of power. which led to loss of great leaders who would have helped shape a better future for Africa economically. Similar thing happened to Mr Anderson Mushala, Patrice Lumumba of Congo and Thomas Sankara of Bukina Faso. Due to these political disputes among the freedom fighters in the fight for power after gaining independence, friends became enemies, rabbles were born and unnecessary formation of political parties. Today Africa still struggles with political discipline because this has been the tradition. Everyone wants to have a share of the power and the holder of sit is never willing to let go or share. Political drama. And hence the focus will be more on protecting the sit and not working towards changing the economic systems of their nations.
