I really enjoy your journeys/dips into the past and different cultures. You do cultural appreciation and encourage exploration of things deeper than 'I made this pretty thing' which I find exciting. Thanks.
I love the idea of simple construction with rectangles and triangles. Before I knew that this was an historical technique I had made dresses in this way.
I love what you've done. It made me think... I've made a roman over dress that does this to a milder degree. I think you could sew the tube split the neck down to where you want it to plunge then sew up the shoulders? It saves you piecing and cutting. Just one piece of fabric. I'm going to try this because I wear greek during the summer because it's so hot here but everyone does greek or roman ;). Again, thank you for all the work you've put into the experimental archeology.
I'm also fascinated by ancient Egyptian history and am a big fan of Dr Zahi Hawass. I just adore that man and all he's done for Egyptian history and culture in modern times. I hope to visit Egypt one day and see the great tombs and walk where the pharaohs walked. Such a rich culture and history there!😍
Lol without the accessories it is basically a nightgown. Egyptian clothing was all accessories. I was costuming a play and it had Egyptian dancing girls and I realized that all they were wearing was accessories which wouldn't have gone over well with bible thumping audience. I had to move the whole thing a few thousand years.
Thank you for this video and tutorial. I am researching a Persona for SCA and this is very helpful in for the Garb I want to create. What weight of linen fabric did you use for these dresses?

Curiosity question - what did the Egyptians wear as undergarments with these dresses, if anything?
There are paintings that show that they wore literally nothing underneath 😉
This one really comes to life with the accessories, doesn't it?
There are so many great accessories for Ancient Egypt!
