Hopefully you’re able to figure it out. I had something similar happen but just all over my legs. My doctor diagnosed me with Skeeter syndrome which is an allergic reaction to mosquito bites due to a polypeptide in its saliva. I was told it’s something that can get worse the more times it happens and can spread throughout my skin all over my body. Not sure if it is what you have (I am definitely not a doctor) but worth a shot to bring up to your doctor to look into as an option.

I see you have a dog..and its approaching summer .my guess is flea bites and your body reacts strongly/allergy also a common sign of bed bugs..the painting woke up a nest??
