This and "Look Into The Future" are my favorite ALL time, of ALL SONGS. From day one....way way back then......and Greg`s voice for me the very BEST!!!
Those were my dad’s songs too. Used to watch him vibe out to those albums growing up in the 70s and 80s. I really wanted to take him to one of these shows. He passed in 2022. But I still have the memories and the music. “It’s right around the corner. Just around the corner.” 🔥
This is as original as Journey could ever get and there are just as many original Journey members playing in this gig as there are in the original Journey. These older songs don't get the love they deserve but I'd love to see this gig live.
One of the greatest Journey songs ever off the very first album WOW 1974 listening to whole album over and over and over again unbelievable every single song but this one WOW it still hits me like I was 17 and man Neal played this song exactly like it was on that album I saw him at Winterland in San Francisco Bill Graham Presents 3/30 1974 he was just freaking 20 turning 21 playing in concert at one of the best venues ever on the corner of Post and Steiner we saw him with 🎸🎤🥁🎹 2 other groups and Journey for $5 five little dollars just amazing times!
I hear you brother I think they had to go on tour with Carlos make it real all the way I bet you that Tori would make some money man they would sell concerts out then get $200 a ticket
If this (Of a lifetime) is their Stairway... , then "Midnight Dreamer" is their "No Quarter" and then what is "Kashmir"? "You're on your own"? "Topaz"? "Here we are"? Man, those first three albums had it all. It was Cream meets Pink Floid. It was Beatles meets Hendrix. It was Incredible and Intense, fun and mature Majestic art rock. At it's BEST!
OMG! Greg Rollie singing HIS song again. The last time he did was right before he left Journey during their 1980, 1981 world tour. I love Perry and Arnell, too, but THIS was Rollie's song, one of the few he still sang after Perry signed on. THANKS FOR POSTING.
That's another classic that echoes in your mind gold record phycedellic man schon and rollie on vocals cant touch it man methodically speaking very talanted writers and plays very well squeeze that lemon
Journey's first 3 albums were the best......IMHO. This is a great tune and so are others from the original Journey such as Look into the Future........GREAT song.
Omg!! That literally gave me chills watching that !!! I never thought I'd see the day when Neal would play this Live with Gregg again. Just my luck I moved to Omaha in 2004 and I couldn't be at home in Bay Area to see this in the Club !! Lol 🎸🎸🎸
OLD TIME JOURNEY FANS HAVE TO NOW RESPECT THE BAND AGAIN FOR THIS NEW LOOK, AND THE NEW SPARK DEEN BRINGS TO THE JOURNEY MUSIC COLLECTION, HOW GREAT TO GREG ROLLY BACK AGAIN
Playing as part of the Journey 'tribute' band with Arnel pays the bills. But this is real music, and musicianship, and artistry (put aside the sound quality of the recording). I would give anything to see THIS band in concert again!!!
Gee that's a PRETTY IGNORANT statement! ( rollling my eyes) You OBVIOUSLY don't really know anything about Journey or their founder's history and motive for starging that band. (You ALSO DO realize that Neal is a multimillionaire right? No need to "pay the bills".). Arnel Pineda is the longest running vocalist for Journey. Johnathan Cain and Neal Schon have been Journey for decades.
this is the first track from Journeys first album, 3 before Perry! I wonder how Schon and Rolie felt at end of 1980 Departure tour,, the last they played this. Wow, 28 years later, they did it again. (Perry not required)
That was awesome they got a good band Neil and Greg keep it going this is what your fans want to hear you guys are the heartbeat of the band yeah that that set you just did just gave me goosebumps that was smoking yeah that's what I'm talking about some people want to hear one off the bottom like that I'm one of them psychedelic to the Bone
I wonder if Neal and Gregg really believed after the 1980 Departure tour that they would never play this song together again or if in their heart of hearts, they felt that they would. This venue is perfect, kudos to whole band and Rolie but especially to Schon who adds so much taste and finesse to his original guitar work.
Neil if you watch any of these videos on UA-cam How about getting this version to tour .This is a great line up dam Deen is sounding fantastic and gregg rolie is so missed.Think you would have a tremendous turnout at all the shows or do an album then tour .Just a thought Neil .
I was at that concert night Ranger George Lopez Santana Journey concert at Shoreline look what Carlos did he opened up with a old school song from the bottom of the deck when he came out and he played that song and it was beautiful because like wow he brought it off the Abraxas album that was truly amazing for the crowd cuz we were just sitting in amazement of this song that he brought out it was the first song on the Abraxas album not to get off on Carlos but you guys can do the same thing need to put Ross Valor as a bass he's been there since day one I met him at a gas station one time in san bruno ave You guys was gigging locally back in 04 05 blew my mind I'm a really big fan good things are coming your way I'm glad Greg's back in your corner that guy smokes I seen at the boardwalk and it sounded just like the damn Record Man like it was yesterday hes got the pipes hang on to the good things in life rock on brothers peace out
I got every Journey album and I'm a faithful fan since day one you guys rock I'd love to see you guys in concert anytime but bring it back to the old school stuff that's heartfelt man that's pretty cool that's where you going to get your fanbase audience that's where it all started from go back to the beginning Where it All Began let's make an Anthology album
I agree Neil is good I like me a lot I like his style of playing he plays with a lot of Heart by the fire he comes from a long line of old school music is very talented and got a sound nobody can touch he's one of my favorites
Thanks brother that was kind of you I can't wait till they come out the reunions tour I'm going I don't know about you I want to hear some of that old school stuff you know psychedelic is where it's at little bit more refined Progressive but it's digging down pretty deep it's real music very instrumental it's a artistic different and it's like there's music these kids are playing nowadays let me tell you Journey rocks in my book
While Deen is no Aynsley(few are/were), they would be a solid gathering (former Journey/Dead Daises) group of musicians playing both the Old, Progressive tunes, with a mixture of Perry/Rolie Era, and a few of the later "hits", on their upcoming 2019 Tour Dates.
Aynsley Dunbar needs to get up on that record I don't know what niels trying to do but needs to put the original artist back together just like Carlos did keep it old school baby
I wouldn’t say that Deen takes a back seat to anybody. Nothing about his style in any way limits this band. He is rock n roll, he is raw, he is spot on the money. And his vocals are epic.
Ah, but you're missing George Tickner from that original lineup. 2nd guitarist. Very good player, influential in developing their original sound/style. Of course, Journey did just fine without him. Schon is just a monster.
I remember seeing Neal when he was about 16 or so with Santana, really really good. Looks like he's gained about 40 pounds or so... still a really great guitar player despite the weight.
Synthonaplinth, Actually they had SIX albums with Rolie before they got Cain. 3 without Perry and 3 with Perry before Cain. And Journey's first album still is my favorite. I has great instrumentals on it, which they can't do with Cain. He's not capable of playing those songs, plus Cain isn't a B-3 player and I think Journey songs with B-3's kick ass.
This and "Look Into The Future" are my favorite ALL time, of ALL SONGS. From day one....way way back then......and Greg`s voice for me the very BEST!!!
Me Too
Those were my dad’s songs too. Used to watch him vibe out to those albums growing up in the 70s and 80s. I really wanted to take him to one of these shows. He passed in 2022. But I still have the memories and the music. “It’s right around the corner. Just around the corner.” 🔥
Yeahhh Right around the corner....Brilliant memories that last forever..@@Mister4-20
Neil is so criminally underrated. What a master. And this is just a better vehicle for him than the Cain band.
listen to Neal's solo albums
This is as original as Journey could ever get and there are just as many original Journey members playing in this gig as there are in the original Journey. These older songs don't get the love they deserve but I'd love to see this gig live.
With one difference: two keyboard players instead of two guitarists.
Fantastic song !!
@@synthonaplinth5980 in the original Journey there was only one guitarist Neal Schon
@@jeffmusgrave6467
Nope. The original Journey (1973) had a 2nd guitarist named George Tickner. He was only on the first album.
@@dadduorp yes, their first album.... Commercially a 'flop' but artistically THEIR BEST ALBUM!
Now this is the good stuff right here! Love the old Journey.
I hope that Journey thru time goes on your again in a year or so. I would love to see them live.
This is what we’ve been waiting for for sooooo long. Please guys tour again with these old great songs.
I hear you brother I think they had to go on tour with Carlos make it real all the way I bet you that Tori would make some money man they would sell concerts out then get $200 a ticket
You may get your wish soon.
Still can't get over this awesomeness. So great to hear the older, original Journey classics played live again. Sounds SO GOOD!!!!
Neal looks so happy playing with his buddy from his high school days
The musicianship on their 1st album is incredible. Truly the Golden Gate Rythum Section.
Awesome tune! Song by an Awesome vocalist!! Greg is the Man 👍❤️
Wish i could have seen this. Concert had to be mind-boggling. 😮😊
That is Journey's ( Stairway to Heaven ). The tasty guitar work and those Vocals on that original recording, just blew me away, Great song.
If this (Of a lifetime) is their Stairway... , then "Midnight Dreamer" is their "No Quarter" and then what is "Kashmir"? "You're on your own"? "Topaz"? "Here we are"? one of the GREATEST.
Awesome guitar 🎸 player great 👍 Neal Schon...Ray Patel
Best combo... Neal and Greg... AMAZING
Amazing! This is the Journey we know. Winterland, Cow Palace New Years 77/78.
Wonderland magical place. Extraordinary acoustics...
I wish you had more footage from this night. It’s great quality. Love this song.
OMG! Greg Rollie singing HIS song again. The last time he did was right before he left Journey during their 1980, 1981 world tour. I love Perry and Arnell, too, but THIS was Rollie's song, one of the few he still sang after Perry signed on. THANKS FOR POSTING.

I looked up classic rock song in the dictionary, there's a picture of this song !!

Neal and Deen lighting it up!!!l
Hello, how are you doing today? Nice meeting you here.
I know we all love the classic Schon/Perry/Cain era but this is so goooooood
not only Neal Schon, sounds like the whole original Journey, with Gregg Rolie on the organ and vocals
first two albums were the best by far.
First 3
One badass guitarist of all kinds.
Just like the old days I seen them lots in San Francisco
Glad to see Neal and Gregg dusting off some original Journey Songs.
The Best Song of Journey´s Progaera.....
Yup! Killer tune!!!! We still smoke a little reefer and listen to 1975-1977 Journey.

Neal is superb absolute legend
WOW !!!!
Man I wish Neal would come out with his own line of guitars/amps/effects/ Sorta like EVH....I'd buy everything in the catalog!
Now put your phones down and try and enjoy the show.

Two different drummers theirs nothing to compare - Deen is no slouch he is a world class drummer like Dunbar .
I wouldn’t say that Deen takes a back seat to anybody. Nothing about his style in any way limits this band.
He is rock n roll, he is raw, he is spot on the money.
And his vocals are epic.
@@michaelstevenson952Aynsley likely wouldn’t be able to tour if they did decide to hit the road, though.
Best Journey line up was the original 4 IMO
Greg Rollie Neil Schon
Ross Vallery (spelling) Ansley Dunbar
I thought they were at their best with both Steve and Gregg as vocalists. Gregg also did a great job sharing vocals in The Storm.
Ah, but you're missing George Tickner from that original lineup. 2nd guitarist. Very good player, influential in developing their original sound/style. Of course, Journey did just fine without him. Schon is just a monster.
frodofraggins thanks for reminding about The Storm. I do have the CD and I need to get it out and play it on my way to work tomorrow.
Still got it.Love this!!!
My favorite song before Steve Perry joined the band.
Classic!
oh my fng god
There's only one Ansley Dunbar!!👍
I really miss Ansley Dunbar and Ross Vallery on this song. ( and every other Journey song) They were really solid and worked great together.
Wow
Fantastic song from the era of the real Journey - before they were "cornified" by Mr. Perry!
My fave response when something slays me like this is borrowed from Johnny Winter: "...Does that get it or what??" Freakin' killer!!
Neal should grow out his ‘fro to make it truly authentic.
"Yep"
Ouch, that was good.
Question, has this show been recorded as a live release. Is it available? This is a trip down memory lane. So awesome.
You can get a while show on UA-cam.
I remember seeing Neal when he was about 16 or so with Santana, really really good. Looks like he's gained about 40 pounds or so... still a really great guitar player despite the weight.
What the f*@k does his weight have to do with his guitar playing
No one cares about his weight except you lol
You can keep your Claptons and all those I’ll take Neal
Where was this? Could there be a professional recording somewhere?
1st album1975 of a life time
Now if only Aynsley Dunbar was on the drums.......
Or Prairie P., who did these all too, just not when put to the vinyl
I don’t think Aynsley plus anymore, and he couldn’t tour.
I went out with him once.
I think Quiet Riot stole the awesome riff in the middle part.
Anybody know who’s on the drums here?
Deen Castronovo. Journey’s current drummer. He did all of the Steve Perry leads.
looks like Neal is putting on weight
Yeah, get rid of Arnel, Jonathan, both are dead weight. They need to go back to their first album and do their songs from Pre-Cain.
LOL, their first five albums were 'pre-Cain'.
Holy cow These vocals are truely awful-sounds like a strangled cat
Martin Weckwerth
You are right.
