Neal George Joseph Schon (born February 27, 1954) is an American rock guitarist, songwriter, and vocalist best known for his work with the bands Journey and Bad English. He is Journey's only constant member, having participated in every album and tour to date. He was also a member of the rock band Santana before forming Journey.
Inducted into the the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame August 23, 2013.

I sorry but Caruso is not song about some soapy "love story" with young lady. It is great poem about Life of an great artist who even in late years of his life adore beauty, kindness, humanity and devotion as basic element of our life. What we are without it? Hymn to all who were lucky to be touched by gods aim and be able to recognize it.

Neal’s is one of the guitar’s great voices. Across the years, in so many venues, he represents the instrument beautifully, serving the melody front and center.

You can really hear Carlos Santana's influence, especially in Schon's older years. This guy was my first guitar hero. Still is. He's the reason I wanted to learn guitar over 35 years ago. I worked for two summers and two winters to save up enough money to buy a Les Paul. Learned chords and scales on a Fender Squire and a Rickenbacker Amp. When I finally bought that Les Paul, I made it a point to learn every Journey song I could. More than 35 years later, I still have that Les Paul (and a few more) and I still rock out every now and then to some of Journey's B-side tunes. especially from Evolution, Departure and Infinity. Those B-sides are where I think Neal Schon's finest work can be found. For those of you who are too young to know what a B-side is, its the song that was on the other side of the single when vinyl was the primary format for record releases. You had the "hit song" on the "A-side" and usually a song from the album that didn't get a lot of airplay or attention on the other side or the "B-side" of the single.
I won't say that his best work is behind him. I think he's evolved as a guitar player, as any great player should. But, to my taste and perhaps I'm a bit biased, but, I think his best work happened between Evolution and Frontiers. There are few players like him that are so edgy and yet, so melodic. Many of his guitar solos are just as memorable as some of Steve Perry's vocals.
TBH, Neal Schon is pushing 70 and can still shred with the best of em. \m/ \m/

Absolutely magnificent! Earlier I've known Schon only from cooperation with Journey but by this performance he shown that besides Journey he feels equal right in other repertoire. Huge, sincere appreciation words' from my part.
Check out his work on the Abraxas Pool album (with all the original Santana musicians except Carlos) and his entirely instrumental playing on his Beyond the Thunder album, plus, on the Santana Caravanserai album, his alternating solos on the instrumental called Song of the Wind!
