I just ordered the head, string trimmer, standard battery charger, and 5.0 Ah battery as part of a kit. I opted for this setup for the versatility as I know a couple tools I want to get for this system. I liked your review. I learned a lot, and your review helped show me a tool I was undecided on buying. Thanks again!
Keith Fillinger FANTASTIC ! As this comment came through I was just sharpening the chain on the chainsaw attachment to do some cleaning up of lower limbs. I’m very confident you won’t be disappointed. 👍🏼
Which powered battery to use with the long reach hedge trimmer already have the 2.5ah which I feel it’s quite heavy with unit just thinking 5.0ah would be even heavier when trimming hedges all day what do you recommend 👍
Greetings from Canada. Good video guys, thank you. I want to ask a totally unrelated question that pertains to protection/safety. Frequently when I use a string trimmer is very hot outside and I am probably in shorts. Occasionally when the line breaks i get a good dart in the leg from the flying string. What are those things you guys are using for leg protection? They are visible at approximately 2:52 in the video. Do they have a name? Are they a retail item? Thanks...
They are wearing bush tramping gaiters. . Line trimming or brushcutter chaps are also available, like chainsaw chaps. Also cheap trimmer shin guards are available. www.trademe.co.nz/2050518467, www.atmosphere.ca/categories/men/accessories/gaiters/product/mckinley-straight-zip-gaiter-blacksilver-332364042.html#332364042%5Bcolor%5D=01, www.mowermegastore.com/product/brushcutter-shinguards-2/
huge awesome video mates. ... I want to ask you brothers if the brush cutter blade will fit to the pole trimmer line ? also is it a sharp blade or just too thick thanks
Matthew Wood I have personally changed many friends ideas and minds regarding electric OPE. You need to try it to believe it ! (Or trust a couple of spuds like us) haha. Very impressive evolution of tools happening...(mike)
One thing nobody says is that while a multi-tool can save money, it will always, without exception, be heavier than a dedicated tool. Why? Driveshaft and gearboxes. By using a universal motor in the back of the device, you have to use a big heavy driveshaft all the way down, it needs a chassis strong enough to avoid twisting under the force over all that distance, and then you need a gearbox at the business end to adjust the RPMs/torque appropriately for the job since a weed wacker has to go faster and a saw for example much slower. All that extra material means its going to be way more bulky and tiring to use, compared to a direct drive unit where the motor is in the business end directly without the use of a gearbox and can use a much lighter and weaker shaft since it has no torque to control and needs no driveshaft.
Oz tool talk should I buy the combo kit or the dedicated tools?the combo comes with small battery and standard charger will the EGO ST1535E Anti Clock wise Spinning Commercial Brush cutter comes with a 5AH battery and fast charger then just buy the hedger skin?
Sean Rorie very hard for me to answer mate, I’d probably piece it together. If you asking you are prob already leaning towards piecing together and getting fast charger and bigger batts straight up. (Mike)
What happens with the rapid load string trimmer if the line breaks? I think this is the most annoying part on string trimmers even more than loading them.
Do you find it easier or harder using the dedicated brushcutter compared to the multi-head system? I am wandering if not having the two handles and the harness is a problem? I need a brushcutter (don't really need the other attachments) and was going to buy the dedicated one, but seeing your multi-tool video I am thinking this might be a better choice. But if holding it for a long time without a harness is tiring, then...?
Jon Pearce If you want dedicated brushcutter and that’s what you would use mostly then Multi-head system wouldn’t be the best choice. Ive used the dedicated brushcutter for hours and it’s fantastic. The one on the multi-tool is also great but they need to be considered different beasts. (Mike)
Where on earth do you get this brush cutter attachment ? I have some ego products already and loving them and was going to get the multi tool, but haven't seen the brush cutter attachment anywhere???
chrisodle007 It came with the system from EGO. I will follow them up and see where you can access it. If you follow us on Facebook or Instagram please message me as a reminder if I haven’t got back to you in the next couple days. (mike)
chrisodle007 I have spoken to Ego and there isn’t a stock issue so stores should be carrying them. Below is a link to maybe do a ring around and/or get one of them to order one in. Hope that helps. 👍🏼
Lou Cifer Considering the extra cost of 4 more motors then, I’m not sure it would ever happen. I don’t think the vibration is enough to even contemplate that.
Hey guys, love all the reviews! Just a question about the mower blade for the 50/52cm models - how often do you recommend sharpening the blade? I've seen a lot of people saying it comes with a pretty dull blade and recommend sharpening it quite often to keep the cut quality good.
Very heavy with plastic parts, the pole saw is the worst heavy and the chain constantly comes off and the plastic cover broke the first day(due to chain flipping). Hedge trimer is way too heavy for long runs, add the 5Ah/7 battery and oh man😔. That line trimmer is by far the worst to get it off and reload too. The only good about Ego was the blower and that too broke on me the first day (I got proof of warranty repair) Wish I invested in Husqy
That's possibly the worst run we've heard of ever for ego, makes me wonder if there's a bit of mayo on that story it mate. This exact setup has been in my worksite from day one. It's used by MANY inexperienced people and is still kicking beutifully. The chains has been an issue for a couple people but I think it's more care and maintenance that stops it being a major issue. (Mike)
@@OZToolTalk No mayo whatsoever, I'm a professional and invested in Ego to help the enviro and to save time reloading gass & oil. I'll make video on it soon! Ego does have potential if only they made them lighter and durable.
The fellow on the right of the video is a bit of a rapid speaker. Combined with his heavy accent, makes for difficulty making sense of what is spoken about. Perhaps a slowing down of his cadence would be welcomed!
This video has it all...great demonstrations and insight into the products from pros. Kudos and Many Thanks!!
Ego's power-load system is brilliant. It makes re-stringing a line trimmer so easy and quick.
SO easy :)

How does this compare to the Milwaukee system. Which do you prefer?

I’m not sure what you are asking sorry ..?
Oz Tool Talk to I mean to take the blade from the brush cutter pole and put on the trimmer pole by taking of the rapid head first of course
נועם אברהם דודאי I guess you could but the idea with this is the convenience.
Oz Tool Talk so the bottom line do you think they the same gear that fit 30cm blade?
this machine like and this machine how parches and how dilevary your sistem 9975559403
Iv never used electric gear in the yard but that makes me want to give it a try.

But don't you miss the mixing fuel and working on Carbs?
EGO USA does not list the hedge trimmer extension.
Please may I know the price of this machine

i hear you, but I think you'll find if you pick this one up that it's actually pretty good. [Dwain]
Great review, though you could do w/o the extended POV camera work, it becomes a little much. Thanks for the great work
Thanks for the tip! Cheers.
Nice looking gear.

thanks guys good job
[Dwain] we're doing exactly that at the moment! should be uploaded in a month or two.
Oz Tool Talk perfect !

Great review, gents!
The oil in my pole saw
What happens with the rapid load string trimmer if the line breaks? I think this is the most annoying part on string trimmers even more than loading them.
You just pop the head open same as a standard trimmer head. Then reload 👍🏼 (mike)
Get Ego's power load line trimmer. It makes reloading a breeze. It is so quick too. No winding of string by hand.

they do not seem to even list it on the EGO website
76jmlaw I’m not sore why but I spoke to Ego Australia and was told there is plenty of stock Available.
Oz Tool Talk well shoot, I guess they are not sold in the states. That’s really unfortunate .
How does the brushcutter perform with gorse?
didn't have any to try it out with. maybe someone else knows?
Should have kept the motor at the head would have better runtime more power and less vibration

[Dwain] i don't do mine often. But its so easy to take a file to it (battery mowers go upside down ;)), there's no reason not to do it frequently.
Thanks mate, appreciate the quick reply. Do you notice a change in the cut quality that indicates that it's time to sharpen it?
[Dwain] like any other blade, it's hard to notice the change over the year as the blade dulls, sorry man. I'm sure the cut would be better when sharp.
Hello extra review. Love this. Could you give advies versus the stihl combi ?
haven't used the Stihl sorry. [Dwain]

weed wacker looks a bit weak
it's a lovely unit to use, but it's true that there are more powerful models around.
Weak? I'm guessing You've never used it... It has plenty of Grunt believe me.
