    I don't know about the generator efficiency, but that's a nice looking property with an amazing view. Congratulations!

    every time I see a whole house generator video it makes me want one more, definitely something I'm going to invest in when I get a house

    Interesting to see, luckily you have the generator makes a world of difference. I think it was well balanced. I will say that one year after using a generator to power some things in the house when the power went out shortly after the capacitor failed on the AC unit. I blamed it on the generator but it could been a coincidence somehow though I feel that the generator caused it to fail. Good Luck! 🍀

      Yeah so far it is all working okay. Utility power still has yet to come back though.

    Speaking of the power outage, back in June 10, 2020 at 6:02 PM, we lost power by the strong winds causing tree branches to fall down and snap the power lines right at the late afternoon and early evening, until later at midnight or at 12:15 AM, we finally got a power back, all there is a wind damage that had done to the utility line.
    Now speaking of Hurricane, I've been recorded on VHS Tape from WS 4000 locating at Ocracoke Island, NC, I caught on tape that there's an eye of the storm and along with the Tornado Warning, and it's very historical like going back in 2017's Hurricane Irma in Florida. All-in-all, WS 4000 isn't that bad at all.

      Well, I just got back home. Still no utility power back.

    That's crazy! I had no idea CT got hit so hard. Thankfully it seems like no major damage. Is that the first time the generator has been used for an extended outage? I'm somewhat familiar with those. Living in FL, several of my neighbors have them. It's funny though, one neighbor right across the street from me got one out in, and probably less than 2 weeks later, Hurricane Irma hit, and knocked the power out for about 2.5 days. Right after, 4 or 5 more people got them put in. I don't have one, but it seems intriguing at times.

      Yep. First time indeed. 6 days to be exact! Stopped it twice to add oil to it.

    It never ceased to amaze me, the mishmash of what's on which circuit. The front and side house lights can all be on the same circuit, the backs should also be, cabana is its own entity. But to hear the front door lights don't work but the walkway lights do, and the left light is out but the right one works, and 2 of the outlets in this room are dead but the other 4 work, that's ridiculous. Even though the generator was an add-on, I'm still not entirely confident in how it was all wired. That's not necessarily the fault of the generator installer as much as it is the electricians who wired the house.
    Like a bathroom, for example, should have one circuit for lights and fans. Another circuit for outlets. If there is a heater, that should be its own circuit.
    Sharing circuits around like they did when my house was built, where a light the basement is shared with the garage, as you have, shouldn't be happening. The sheer fact that you have NO light in the basement is also not good. Yes, it's unfinished, I get it, and there is nothing else down there, but even so. The dehumidifier itself is excepted, like the hot tub, and even the 2nd floor A/C.

      The walkway lights actually don’t work either. I thought they did for some reason. The slider light is tied into the sunroom, and the other back light is with the living room. They aren’t the same areas. This house already has so many more separate circuits than the other one did. The bathroom lights and outlets are separate too. A heater would be nice in them, but that’ll probably never happen.
      The garage lights I am fine with since we can just use the opener lights to get around it. I see your point with the basement lights, but I haven’t lost any sleep over it, and there is plenty of light down there during the day, if not, I just use your spot light that you gave me. Easy for me to say because I live here, but I know mostly where everything is down there. The outlets over the work bench do work actually, so if ever I needed to do something on it, I can use the Work Zone or some other kind of lamp in the interim. Dark basements don’t scare me.
      The only way things would have been done so perfectly is if the house and generator were done at the same time, but the fact is, they weren’t, so we had to improvise the best we could. The generator was expensive enough as it was, and rewiring everything was not practical, and we already moved multiple circuits around as ya know.
      I know what you said about the laundry machines too, but they aren’t used every day (at least for us). Right now I have the washer on an extension cord per your idea. Wire ends at the plugs are a little warm, but the cord itself is cool, so it’s probably fine. The motor also goes right off the start winding for everything including the spin drains. Aside from when the igniter is on, the cord will handle the dryer fine obviously since it uses less power.

    So out of interest...basically you're running the house electricity on gas right now...if a regular day was $10 worth of electricity...how much is a day via generator in gas charges?

    • @Sharkie626
      @Sharkie626  4 роки тому

      Unsure on that. Haven’t really had a gas bill yet that reflects gas usage.

    • @jaykay18
      @jaykay18 4 роки тому

      @@ZCount I'm also curious. It can easily be calculated by figuring what a regular gas bill in the summer is, compared to what it was after running the generator. I can indeed tell you, at least from my gasoline generators, that it is far more expensive to generate your own power.
