I’m low income I save $35 a month and I don’t touch it, I don’t cash stuff it wasn’t my cup of tea, I cash stuffed a year , and went digital, I set a goal of saving $500 a year doing a savings challenge.. $42 a month.. I don’t try to go over it that goes to my emergency fund and it’s down as a monthly bill in my. Budget…. I put this money in a HYSA every month…. This is how I built my $1000 emergency fund I started last year..
Great job saving! I am going to try to tighten the belt more next year and save more. Sometimes it just takes a while to reach a big goal. I hope UA-cam helps with your envelopes for trips and things for your family.
You are so right....even if you just save 5 dollars a week....it's something. I started seriously saving in May when I had my first surgery, I tried starting in Jan, lost interest, reallocated everything to start again in May. ....I am 7 weeks behind on saving since I was in the hospital due to an emergency surgery in September. Today I cleaned out my wallet, and stuffed everything into my savings.....I have to say I had so much fun...:) I really enjoy it. I was able to get caught up on a few challenges. But I'm still behind on the 100 envelope.....I want to use it to pay extra on our mortgage. I know it will be ok, because I am still saving. I will get it to where I want it. It's a process. I'm doing what I can with what I have. Keep going! Do what you love! and we will continue to be inspired by you!
We can't discount that change. adds up more than people think. I remember working fast food, I used to pocket the change people left because they just didn't want it. It can stretch a long way.
I am working on your 100 envelope challenge Amanda! It is so less stressful than the original. Might still take me a couple of years, job hunting so not much to work with, but I am trying. Also I LOVE coin jars 😅I might have a problem because if I didn't control myself I would have way more of them than I need lol
I saved my first $500 in coins last year. I’m on ss benefits,this money I put in a high yield account and just been adding what I can monthly but I have saved another $500 plus this year..
@ That is terrific. We live on Social Security, also. Neither one of us like to carry change around and so it goes in the penny cans. He usually spends it at Harbor Freight. ♥️
