I really appreciate this video and the reasoning behind it. It’s easy to be performative in support of Black lives in any aspect but it’s true allyship when you recognize brand issues and stop putting dollars towards them. These are the type of dupes I love! I'm not necessarily looking for something cheaper every time I want a dupe. Sometimes it's just finding a formula that does it better or something with more shade options!
I’m so glad you agree! For most of these, I found color dupes with formulas I consider better. While that may not be a dupe for some people, it’s definitely what I look for

After hearing you talk about the Bite OG (and knowing your love for the Fitglow lip serum), I think I have a lip product recommendation that you might enjoy whenever you run out of the Bite. It’s the Neova Cu3 lip repair. I have Sjögren’s syndrome so very chronically dry and inflamed lips. The Neova is my HG after trying 20+ lip products. I don’t know how it works with makeup but for PM it’s the most nourishing, hydrating, healing, long-lasting lip care product I’ve ever used. It’s definitely made my lips more resilient. It’s not a dupe for anything since the INCI is pretty unique but it’s occlusive and nourishing without being gloopy

Ugh can't even deal with how gorgeous that Em cosmetics blush is. The time and effort put into this video is amazing 👏. Now I just need a dupe for the brand new all mineral sunscreen that Tatcha just launched. It's sooooo good, all mineral, fragrance free, tinted, looks gorgeous on the skin but it's $60.😥. Wish I didn't love it so much.

Yay! Kiss of Rose is now back at Sephora! I ordered it during the sale. I never got one when they were limited edition. I’m excited to try it! I loved the original Bite Beauty agave mask too. I wonder if they are going under. So many of their things are sold out and haven’t been restocked since.

Anytime! No they aren't similar. Kiss of Rose is a powder formula, reddish copper shade, lots of fine shimmer. VBB Miniskirt is a satin cream, no shimmer, more of a reddish brown. Very different
I’ve been using that lanolips tube as my dupe for the bite and like it but still miss my bite beauty original 😭 also def considering buying that Mac eyeshadow on your eyes love it!! 😍the 3 nudestix ones I have because I love the colors are in taupe, putty, and nudity.
Agreed! If you miss the feeling, I would highly recommend the Naturium phyto balm in clear. Feels virtually the same, just doesn’t transform my lips quite like Bite
I'm not sure if it's a dupe of the bite lip mask, but I think you might like the Paula's choice lip and body treatment balm.. it's got lanolin and beeswax and it is pretty thick too

On a desperate whim I tried the Aerin rose lip conditioner, I wear it to bed every night and even through the winter I wake up with soft lips that still have a protective layer sticking tight. It’s sold at Sephora and it’s not cheap and I wish the packaging was a little more special for the price but I’m sold

Oh good! Sweet Heat is a tad lighter/more cool toned but L’Oréal Amber Rush is super close

Kait: How does blonzer bare minerals in rose kiss compare to em heavens glow blusher in venetian rose? The luminosity and shine, texture and shade? Kiss of rose in stock here in UK BM. Im trying to decide which blush to get. Or milani baked rose doro. The Em does look incredible!! Help! Even the clear coloured heavens glow in light colour looks like gorgeous highlight…
Kiss of Rose is SO much more red/bronze, whereas Venetian Rose is a warm pink. Totally depends on what you like because both formulas are amazing

@@StateofKait I would love a dupe for the Maybelline infallible color tattoo eyeshadow in "on and on bronze / bad to the bronze" (that's what it's called in the US)! I adore the color and the lasting power however the formula dries out after about a month or so and then its just a pain to use... It's a very unique color, so if you haven't tried it, I would highly recommend it (even if it's just for a month ;)

Regarding HG's Ray, perhaps Urban Decay's Space Cowboy warm beige base with silver sparkle may be a good partner to dupe with a bronzed peach?
Yeah I think layering space cowboy over another product could give a similar effect!
@@StateofKait One last reply as I thought of something relevant in my Sephora cart. Temptalia reviewed Sephora single metallic eyeshadow in Demanding #31 which is described as a dark peach metallic which is a close dupe of Cava from Natasha Denona's Cava from the Gold Palette. PS-Great video! :)

I found that the EM Cosmetics blush in Venetian Rose is also a spot on dupe for Hourglass Mood Exposure, at least on my skin. Thank you for your efforts on this. I feel like I missed some of the online/social media missteps from a bunch of brands since I’m not really in the scene, as it were, online. I appreciate that you called them out, and gave us helpful dupes in the process. Unfortunately I had heard that Naturium’s founder launched her brand in a really shady way, so I’m not sure I’d want to support them. Honestly it’s tough to keep up with all the bad behavior that’s out there.
That’s precisely why I allow people to be forgiven. In the case of Naturium, the launch of the brand was shady but it seemed to be because Susan Yara made a wrong judgment call - wrong - but harmless. To me, that is not the same as systemic racism.

@@StateofKait Sooooooo good. I’ve given it away to friends and family and they all love it. It’s nice and thick so stays on the lips very well. They sell a three pack for a little less. I think a single tube is $12.

@@StateofKait It’s not really scented. It may have a slight scent from the ingredients. My husband says he doesn’t feel like it does. It has lanolin and ceramides. I find it pleasant.

The only thing I've found that comes close to the Bite Agave Lip Mask is Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream... the ointment. In unscented. The scented one is strong and smells very vintage.
Oh man then I guess I only tried the scented version because it was so gross and medicinal

If you are looking for a nice thick lanolin lip product, take a look at Dr Sam Bunting, Flawless Lip. It has lanolin and ceramides. And it’s thick.

Have you tried Lansinoh as a lip mask? If you like the original Bite mask, you may like this. It’s 100% lanolin nipple cream. But it is the most occlusive, nourishing balm. Very thick, slightly fragranced. More clinical feeling than cosmetic but it is literally meant for cracked nipples when breastfeeding so 1) totally safe to use on lips and 2) super healing. Think about it- you want cracked nipples to heal ON THE DOUBLE, so this is formulated to be super healing. my go to if my lips are chapped. Added bonus- for a huge freaking tube, it’s $8ish. About 1/2 the price as Lanolips.

The liquid matte “velvet” lipsticks from Em/MAC/BareMinerals are sooo similar (Em and BM are fully identical; MAC is only slightly tweaked) that I suspect they’re from the same manufacturer. I’m not surprised that there’s overlap among their other products. Have you noticed other similarities within those brands?

It seems like a LOT of Bare Minerals products are going out of stock... it was sold in August last year, so I'm increasingly afraid it's going out of business or being revamped somehow!

MAC warm soul changed because the Italian lab that created the original unfortunately closed. The formula is now produced at another lab so in theory *should* be the same, but it’s not!!! The old one was deeper with more depth!
