Since I practice pretty quietly (I can't let my family know), the way I bonded with my tarot deck is a get-to-know-you spread at night when everyone was sleeping, and then I put my favorite rock in the bag it came with, as well as a little glass stone. Neither of them are crystals, at least I don't think the rock is a crystal. But they're what I use to ground and focus during readings. As far as cleansing and charging, I'll put it on a windowsill under the full moon with the stone and rock when I remember and have time, but I mainly just use energy. I can't smoke cleanse, use candles, or anything like that.
I love Lenormand, it’s so underrated! It’s much more intuitive than Tarot in my opinion and it’s more of a „what will happen“ than a „why does this happen“ or „what are the backgrounds to this. Especially if you do the full spread with all the cards!
Yes def! Lenormand for me is much better at predicting events, whilst Tarot is much better for reading emotions/energies. Lenormand is for “what will happen”.
Hard agree. Lenormand is my *favorite* system of divination- particularly for Real-World/Mundane related readings
this year I committed to drawing my own tarot deck. I bought blank playing cards and each day I draw one card (about 20 mins). I sometimes keep Rider Wright imagery and sometimes made my own associations. it's been a great experience with tarot. can't wait to use my very personal deck. (10 cards left to draw!)
Yes! I have been doing the same! I've been trying to come up with images from my garden or nature in general to represent each card, I have the majors done so far. For example, the Tower is my beautiful purple bush bean stalk being attacked by garden snails, and the Hermit is a beautiful ancient tree that has stood alone in a pasture nearby for generations. It's been fun 😆

This is my favorite deck I own, because I’m not as experienced with Tarot, Lenormand worked with me incredibly easily. I’m extremely picky with my decks (I only own 5). But the art for green glyphs is INCREDIBLE. If anyone is just getting into Lenormand I really recommend Lisa Loves Lenormand on UA-cam

As I was getting back into and committing myself to a proper practice recently I pulled out my two tarot decks and did 'get to know you' spreads with them. One of them, arguably my favourite for its really cool art style (its a cyberpunk aesthetic deck) straight up told me to piss off for a while because I am burnt out and don't have the energy that deck takes. So I pulled out the other one, which is a much gentler fantasy vibe and it gave me just caring and almost motherly comfort? I laughed so hard. These two decks just were so clear on what it was they were going to do for me and I just laughed at the fact one of them told me to just set it aside until I am ready to deal with the fact that it can be a draining and rather blunt ass of a deck. 🤣
Side note; Gosh I wish I could sound and smoke cleanse. But we have an indoor cat (smoke is not good for those little lungs), my wife gets migraines from incense, and all 3 of us humans in the household are autistic and we are quite sensitive to sound. I am considering getting a small wind chime to hang at my altar though, wind won't get to it so it won't generate sound all the time and be overwhelming but I will be able to quietly jangle it myself...well that and when my cat decides she wants to bunt it and make it jangle 🤣
Lenormand is my favorite system! It’s very narrative, and straightforward, whereas I’ve personally found tarot to be much deeper and complex in each individual card
ohh Frankie the Lenormand is a whole new journey, it’s not that hard to learn, but it’s very different from tarot, and it’s also WAY more aggressive 😂

Usually when I get a new deck, I’ll start off with a smoke cleanse, a quick look through and „get to know you“ spread. By that point the decks have usually let me know what they would like to be treated, wether they want to be stored a certain way or wether anything else is required or not.

I think my way of bonding with my divination tools (I don't own any decks yet, but I got some eine stones, dice and apps 😅) would be just talking to them, letting them know how in doing, what im thinking about, letting them absorb some of my energy etc.
Carrying them around with me would probably also be a great way :0
I've just started working with the Seasons of the Witch Samhain oracle deck and I found this video very helpful. One of the things I do is placing the deck on my ancestor altar overnight with a prayer for cleansing when I first get it. Thanks as always Frankie, I always walk away from your videos with something new

Ooh I have a tip for you if you don't want to get oil on your decks! Take some unsented, non-foaming hand sanitizer and add your favorite oil to it with your intentions. Apply a small amount to your hands and go ahead and hold your decks without getting oil on them. I do this for all my decks with essential oils and they are quite partial to a nice Thieves blend

Ususally just a smoke cleanse and let a new deck sit on my altar and then let it sit next to my favorite deck so they get to know each other as well. After that I use it every day for a week or two until I feel we’ve made that connection. Great video, thanks!!!
I love reading with Lenormand cards. But to be honest I had never seen them till about 2015ish. So in the mainstream in the English speaking world I think they are fairly recently becoming popular. With Tarot each card has alot of depth and various meanings whereas Lenormand relies on card combinations to tell you what is going on. Can be as few as 3 or 4 cards or a Grand Tableau with the entire deck. That is why they are usually considerably smaller. I find Lenormand is much more blunt and straightforward in my own personal readings. The tarot deck featured in this video is very beautiful and the Lenormand is rather traditional and a beautiful art style.
I usually don't cleanse my decks, but if I would, I think, sound cleansing would be best for me or charging up some clear quartz. As it comes to bonding with a new deck, I like to pull cards regularly. My favorite oracle decks are the Seasons of the Witch Oracle Decks. I usually struggle with remembering the meanings of the cards (even though I read tarot since I was 15, which was 17 years ago!), but I can read these particular oracle decks intuitively. Which is amazing. 😍 The Woodland Wardens Oracle is sooo beautiful!!

I was looking through my older notifs here on youtube, on this was very needed! I recently got the Crow tarot deck, and I'm so excited to start using it
I like to do the deck interview as you mentioned to get started. However I just start using them in small ways and track all the readings and cards in my journal. I find over the course of using them they bind with my energy (and the energy of the deity or spirit I may be exclusively using them for - or purpose). Great video!
To bond with my decks I put a few drops of essential oil of choice on a small square paper. I dry the paper and the scent is left behind. I then place the paper in the middle of the new deck to scent it. Then I will place the cards back in the box. When ready I will continue to scent the deck by letting it sit by a stick of incense. To call spirits into a deck I will ring a bell over it. This is my bonding process. I love the lemon and but my favorite playing card oracle are the gypsy which cards. Both my grandmother and her mother read these and my grandmother's mother's deck had been passed to her, and I now own it.
Lemon is supposed to read Lenormand.
Which is supposed to read witch. 🧹

I just picked up a couple oracle decks, a messages from the spirits of nature deck, and the heavenly bodies astrology deck. With the astrology deck I felt instantly connected and dove right in to learning and playing. With the nature spirits, some of the cards didn't resonate with me, so I went through the deck and smoke cleansed each card and asked that I see what I was meant to see. It was time consuming, but it feels pretty good now and I've gotten some sweet messages already. I have yet to find a tarot that really calls to me, but I'm on the hunt ✌️
I do my own walk through with each of the cards, just looking at each card for a few seconds as I flip them. Then I riffle shuffle at least 10 times, cut the deck and knock on it 3 times. Then hand over hand shuffle. This lets me know if I can even work with the deck as my hands are somewhat disabled. If my hands can't work it, the deck gets returned. If all is well, I will smoke cleanse, or set it on my selenite disk over night, or set a clear crystal on it overnight. Shuffling is asmr to me so I'll keep the deck nearby and shuffle a few times, then pull a card (or 3) randomly until I'm used to it. 😊✌️❤️🔮🃏🕯🍁🍂🐈⬛👍🎶

My favorite way to cleanse my decks is to blow on it and then tap it on a table/ground three times since I can't smoke cleanse anymore and its easier for me to do 😂
I want this set so bad, but I can't afford the $200 right now. I'm really into Lenormand, so might just get that one. If you like Lenormand, you should check out Kipper. I'm just starting to get into both, but they're pretty similar. If you can read one, you can read the other pretty easily.
A note about Lenormand: The smallest unit you can read with Lenormand is a pair of cards. Drawing one a day to familiarize yourself works, but if you want to do a daily practice equivalent to Tarot daily draws, you'd need to draw a pair, or even better, a line of three.

hiya frankie ! so, i know you likely outsource the creation of subtitles to someone else because there a occasionally moments where there are errors that wouldn't have been made by you. this usually doesn't impede your meaning, but it did at around 8:15 -- "full-Catholic" is lowkey the opposite of "folk Catholic," which is what made me want to bring that (and the "God" error right after) to your attention! i know that longer-term viewers probably caught it and understood because, well, They Know Who You Are, but ! yeah ! i just wanted to let you know that !! :) !!

So.. A few hours ago I was thinking that I'm not into tarot (or divination really although the runes intrigued me) but that I should try it. By watching a video of the witch of wonderlust I knew I needed the wild unknown tarot and now I want to buy this box.. I don't have the money.. So I'm screw but my mind changed quickly.. 😅🤣
After watching this video, I decided to ask my deck what it would help me with. I got a very positive card, so I was well pleased. Then I decided to ask if there was anything else it could help me with. I guess I got greedy or something, because it delivered an absolute truth bomb that I felt cut deep into my soul. At least it's keeping it real? 😅
Hmmm...so I've been giving each of my decks a rock , sometimes they find themselves under a pillow. I've been knocking them before pulling a daily card for the day. Or I ask what the deck has a message for me. :)
my favorite way to bond with a deck is by shuffling them! it makes me feel closer to them 🥰 i also like to do small, "conversational" readings; pulling a card just to ask how the deck is doing, etc.
This might seem like a dumb question..(I'm a beginner when it comes to witchcraft and tarot). Are tarot decks essentially their own entity? Or are they simply a way to communicate with whatever deity you worship and/or work with?
Also, would Holy water be ok to cleanse a deck with? And with charging a deck, can any stone or crystal work, or are specific crystals recommended?
Is it ever okay to get a deck even though you don’t practice? I have found 2 that I’m thinking of getting. One is a Vlad the Impaler deck and the other is a deck of supernatural monsters (vampires, werewolves, ect., how would you use these, anyway?). Does it ever make people angry to hear that people buy them & don’t use them? Hope to hear from you soon!

i wouldn’t trust what he’s saying about what the runes mean. everything we know about the runes comes from the rune poems, and that’s it. anything else that people are putting in their books or rune sets that isn’t from the rune poems or isn’t included in the rune poems is… well… a load of made up bs
