    There are many programs that can do camera tracking, and the same basic fundamentals apply to all of them. In this video, however, Niko shows you how to get a flawless camera track in Boujou!

    Nice job on the tool and ability to abstract the methodology of motion tracking. I've been playing around with VooCAT and find it fairly intuitive plus powerful. Has a great tool set similar to Boujou that you demonstrate in this video.
    For those looking for a motion tracking app, even though it might not be quite as powerful in some area's, it's price tag for a commercial version might be just what your looking for.
    I can't wait for more of these tutorial video's from you guys!

    I'm going out on a crazy limb here because I never dealt with a shot like this , however I believe depending on the shot you will either be ok or need some manual tracks to fill in the gaps like Niko's talking about.

    Select one of your nulls on the ground, press p for position , copy and paste the data into the position of your object. Press r for rotation and paste that data into the object aswell. Done.

    boujou will be able to track any shot as long as its rectilinear, aka the straight lines arent curvy like the gopro's fisheye. All you have to do is undistort the fisheye shots, which you can do in after effects with the "lens correction" filter.

    Still one of the best tracking Boujou tracking tuts out there :D THX for this :D I hope you or someone will answer me this question: I need to track a small plastic gun in my hand as the camera moves around me so that I can replace that plastic gun with a 3D model of a gun. How can I do this, can Boujou do that for me?

    • @iggorr25

  • @hardisk
    @hardisk 11 років тому +1

    That would be long for them to make, have you checked UA-cam tutorials for your 3D application? There is already all the info needed out there, while in - depth Boujou tutorials were pretty rare.

  • @hardisk
    @hardisk 11 років тому

    Boujou is better at handling JPEG sequences for reasons nobody knows. It will affect quality however this doesn't matter since the JPEG footage is only use for reference. When you export your 3D models out of your 3D program and put them back into your edit, you're still rendering the final movie with your original rush ;)

  • @L1NEBRE4K

    Long process. When exporting, Set start index to 0, scale scene to 100. When you have your .c4d file made, open it in Notepad/textedit. Search for 3.14 until you find 3.14(etc) in-between two sets of 0.000000. Top 0.000000 should be negative. Bottom should be positive. Change the top to positive, change the 3.14(etc) to 0.000000, Then search for "ParentItem 10000001" then replace it with "ParentItem 10000002". That should fix it. Also make sure to use a h.264 compressed video inside Cinema 4d.

    Does it help to increase the contrast and or add a sharpen effect to your footage before you export it as an image sequence?

    • @evilmorph
      @evilmorph 9 років тому

      I'ts logic to think so but I read in many places that the alghoritm works better with raw footage. (raw as untreated)
      .No Color correction
      .No sharpening
      .Recorded with Fast Shutter to minimize motion blur
      .Not to going out of focus also helps a lot :p
      .Image Sequence instead of video (.tiff / targa /jpg etc)

    Hi, Sam and Niko.
    Thank you very much for the tutorial.
    After tracking and solving (with specified overlapping _Gold_ points spanning over 100 frames and all) everything looked pretty solid and made sense visually. However, upon switching to 3d view, to my astonishment, I found that the generated point cloud looked extremely shallow (nearly flat). In fact, some of the points corresponding to features in the scene *further from the real camera* actually appeared *closer to the solved camera*. What the hell?!
    You emphasized at one point the importance of paralaxing to a good solve. I'm guessing my problem is due to lack thereof in the shot?
    S.O.S.!

      it's depending on the video quality and the camera movements. the better the resolution, the better result. you should use a spot with proper contrast and shadows for your video. i bet you guys simply use videos of shitty quality^^

      @gownerjones2 9 років тому

    You basically mask the part that you want to object track, then invert the mask to get the whole scene except the object masked. When exporting, select "Frozen camera, moving scene" . Done. In your 3D program, parent your 3D object to the moving null.
